slopes game room, while nowhere big as james, puts out longform retro gaming content/docs that are at least 30 mins and up...he only recently quit (i think 2 or so years ago) his real job to do YT fulltime. He has a family too...but never put out lazy crap that james does...and as far as I'm aware he does all his stuff by himself.

if slope even had 10% the help james has, he'd probably pump out thrice the conent lazy james does.

So, Rex Viper is doing a show in Portland Oregon. Rex is interesting because it sits in this uncanny middle ground between middle school garage band and midlife crisis. If this was my 7th grade son, this would be amazing, but as someone who's routinely dealt with musicians, it really does just suck. No love show is ever as good as the CD, so it's important to nail the energy and hit it out of the park to make up for it. If everyone is fucking dancing and singing and movin, then this white boy did alright, but it's really bad in that every video I've seen they have no stage presence. That's the most important thing during a live show.
Here's an exercise. Watch any rex Viper show, but turn the audio off and just watch what they do. Minimal energy, no attempts to hype up the crowd, nothing. If you're just gonna play the music and nothing else, You're wasting everyone's time, we can just listen to the CD.
My god, I've seen high school cover bands with more charisma.

I wouldn’t go far as to say Midlife Crisis. But it’s odd. Rex Viper is something even I, someone who still enjoys some Cinemassacre content, can’t defend. James isn’t even the worst part of it. The rest of the band are so boring to look at.

I watched the Sidescrollers interview from earlier this year with James. It was pretty good, plenty of nostalgia for old Screwattack and early nerd episodes.
Now that we know just how far the autism rabbithole goes with him, I can't really unsee it when Bimmy is talking, he's a genuine autist. At least he clearly felt comfortable around Craig, an old friend, so he didn't need to pretend or act(lord knows we know how bad that is these days)

By midlife crisis, I mean the lack of passion. They always hype up shows, but if you're in a band and you're dedicated, you constantly want to get better, you practice routinely and most importantly, you play. It seems anytime it comes up, it's because he's got a show.
Let's be real, is this because Rex Viper has a dedicated following, or because James Rolfe is a recognized name.
They have ten videos on the rex Viper YouTube channel and it's just their full set, a channel intro, a full concert and an advertisement. There's no EP, no CD's (or if there is, they're advertised nowhere) fucking, when I was in highschool, me and my minimum wage friends were able to find a distro to get out CD's out into the open.

The total lack of passion screams midlife crisis and not the good kind like faith no more.

I used to post a lot on TCT. I made a Reddit account just to post there (deleted it since then). It's cringe now because its the same joke over and over again. It just takes from that shitty Nerd room tour, which was funny at the time but is retarded now. Too many jabs at James's wife, which I'm not a fan of. I like to mock people like Anisa Jomha, but she's a public figure who acts like a bitch in public. James's wife is a private citizen, leave her alone.

The only good thing to come from TCT recently was the Balls on the Dick remix, that was Grade A comedy gold.

The TCT Monster Madness was okay I guess. It would've been funny if it was just one video, it's the same jokes for all 31 videos.

I stopped caring about James Rolfe after the hype for the autobiography died down and we all had our fun, but ran across the "Balls on the Dick" remix and came back to try to catch up.

Nothing of note seems to have happened besides Screenwave trying to make this show with James' neighbor work (spoiler: it fucking doesn't). Also, Soylent sponsorship, they just have to be fucking with James intentionally now.

I still check TCT every few weeks or so, and despite the a-logs and the repeated unfunny memes, there's always some weird minute shit that makes me laugh, like James not knowing how to drink from a glass.
