Do you guys think he even knows that people dislike him or does his team hide it from him?
People think the whole "I'm not going to watch Ghostbusters 2016" incident and how he handled it is some kind of 1000IQ genius underwater backgammon move.
When in reality, its my belief that he's just THAT oblivious outside his bubble.

Both Mike and James are pretty sensitive as well, I remember GameSack dude mentioning that they told him they didn't like their parody some years back

If he does, he doesn’t care in the slightest.

Despite people coping and seething and trying to deny it, his response to the Ghostbusters 2016 backlash is absolutely genius. He found the antidote to cancel culture before it was even being called that.
Despite Redditors laughing at James for the silly things he does, he still wins.
They’re a vocal minority, James is still a beloved internet legend and all of his haters’ words fall on deaf ears.

Shoutouts to Gamesack. That channel is great if you actually care about retro gaming.

Monster Madness has always been the best show on the channel because classic 'harrer' is something James is intently interested in. Years ago he was freaking out online when Universal announced they were tearing down the original Phantom of the Opera set. Many people love horror, but very few appreciate any films in the genre pre 30's

It's a shame he's not doing 31 reviews like in the golden days.

I barely remember GameSack but that parody was pretty funny. Thank for the link,,,ASS! :)
*sigh* It's just hard for me to watch Bimmy anymore. I'm a long time fan of both the Garfield Halloween special and (pre-Slobwave) AVGN, but...
  • Doug Walker has a better pumpkin jacket
  • The episode (counting the stupid fucking ad) was almost as long as Garfield Halloween
  • The stupid fucking ad
  • The...fuck it, I'm tired and don't want to waste anymore time on this, here's a meme I made

...oh yeah, and the stupid fucking ad.

I think James never understood the internet at all.
I think he just got lucky and since he was first to a genre. The Soylent sponsorship shows that James doesn’t even know basic internet culture. It’s apparent that he hates the internet and wishes he could be a Hollyslop director. Do you guys think he even knows that people dislike him or does his team hide it from him?
He's long past the stage where he's mentally checked out, he simply isn't putting out new videos out of passion or for any reason other than to collect a paycheck anymore. Even Monster Madness (which I always suspected was his true passion project, I'm firmly in the "he was a film fan who stumbled into being a game reviewer" camp) now relies on ghostwriters these days.

And you know what? I don't see that as a reason to hate him. The guy's been doing this for almost twenty years and he now has a family. It would be weirder if his priorities hadn't changed in all that time. People can either keep that in mind when they watch his new content or they can just stop watching. The fact he's pigeonholed himself into being an Internet content creator is ultimately his problem.

Also, the few projects he's made recently that you can tell he genuinely cared about (like that godawful "Rex Viper" band) show that he's the kind of person who the memes about Soylent were mocking to begin with, so as far as sponsorships go it's honestly quite fitting.

I’ll always love cinemassacre especially monster madness and AVGN up to about 2013. Seeing him now though, bald and a bit decrepit looking is kinda depressing. His content now is complete shit and he hasn’t put anything out worth watching in years. It comes across like he doesn’t gaf about his fan base anymore and hasn’t in a long time

I wonder how much of these new reviews is being shat out by ChatGPT. Considering previous generations of slobs weren't shy about resorting to plagiarism, it's not out of the realm of possibility.
I wouldn't be shocked with how bland James' content is now.

James is too much of a Boomer to use ChatGPT.
>Implying James even writes any of his videos anymore

Irate gamer parody gamesack did was classic.

And GS is a great watch every other Sunday even if he does it solo now

He's more or less admitted this...and had said he really stopped gaming in college.

John seems like a nice guy but I can't stand his fucking voice, mf sounds like a cartoon anteater.

nah, it was the opposite, he stopped giving a fuck about gaming in the early days of the N64 until he met Bootsy and Mike in college. They mentioned a few times how they would pull all-nighters playing Bootsy's GameCube and Mike would lend Atari and NES games to James.

Bimmy had to be tard wrangled into success
