Genuinely I am dumbfounded as to why he hasn’t included even a single joke about playing bad games has turned him bald from stress, it’s right there in front of him and he hasn’t capitalised on it at all. I genuinely don’t know if it’s just shame or he’s that crap a writer he can’t write even the most obvious gags that aren’t swearing like a Tourette’s syndrome patient on strong crack and discussing animal faeces and which he’d like to drink.m or eat accordingly.

Like late I really was the secret brains behind the whole thing and the series will never be the same without him? Out of curiosity what is there current relationship at this point? I’ve literally maybe only watched one AVGN vid this year which was the earthworm Jim one due to fatigue. If things get too bleak for James do you think he’ll try and crawl back to his buddy matei and ask him to help him with episodes again? Do you think he’d help James?

Matei is still kinda involved with AVGN, but to what extent is anyones guess. I know he does some footage capture for them at least and probably throws an idea/joke or two to them if he thinks of one. You'll occasionally be able to figure out what an upcoming video is going to be about by looking at Mike's Twitch stream. An example is Kid Icarus and Doom. Mike just so happened to be playing through EVERY port of Doom prior to the AVGN Doom Episode iirc.

I think during a stream not too long ago he basically went through all of the AVGN library and did a breakdown of his involvement with them. I think someone posted it in the thread somewhere. I can't be assed to find it though.

This had the potential to be a good video and I guess the nicest thing you could say about it is that it's okay. There's the usual awkward moments between the two of them but it's just not going anywhere. The conversations just aren't interesting at best and cringe and awkward at worst. Ironically, James probably would have responded better to Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle.

It's a very fun casual puzzle game that's a love letter to the series. Way better than the other game without drama from the devs. When watching James' video it mildly infruiates me whenever anyone says that the lawsuit shut the game down when that's not entirely what happened. James even states that they couldn't add Jason X to the game but no. He is in the game:

Tons of shit went down and continues to go down with the same publisher (Gun Media) going down the same exact road with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre game.

Unfortunately Friday the 13th Killer Puzzle isn't available to buy anymore since January of this year. Friday the 13th Killer Puzzle is effectively a reskin of Slayaway camp so James could have just played that game instead. Also interesting to note is that there is a sequel to Slayaway Camp that is unfortunately only available to Netflix Subscribers.

Mike pretty much created Cinemassacre and James just kinda stayed the front-man because he had more of a charisma than Mike.

People say this but they funnily forget that Mike had his chance to shine during the filming of the AVGN movie when he was the one doing the videos and it was a trainwreck. It is clear that beyond being the charisma, James also served as a filter for Mike bad ideas and probably helped him refine his ideas.

Eh that's half true. A lot of Mike's COMEDY videos failed like the Elmo video. But he made some good-enough retro game type videos where he talked about about the NES and SNES and some hacks that were well-received enough. Nothing groundbreaking. But considering that the audience was there for James, I think that they did fine.

Agreed that they really are at their best when they're together.

imo Mike's output from that era isn't nearly as bad as people say, he made some pretty good videos (like that Disney comics one, that for some reason got removed from the main channel) but Elmo in Grouchland & Minecraft with Gadget were so bad/bizzare they overshadowed everything else.

I'm surprised he didn't jump ship earlier given how bad he is at handling criticism, negative comments and trolling. I was watching his Diablo streams and he spent almost 40 minutes sperging about the YT comments on his previous VOD, it must have been hell to be forced to take over the channel while James was having his audiovisual abortion.

Probably had thicker skin or was more used to criticism back then. Mike was very reluctant to show his face on camera before he took over the channel. He was probably a little bit better prepared for harsher criticism back then

CinemassacreTruth was originally a Hate-Mike-Matei sub created because of mass bannings on the official sub. Which is pretty ironic since Matei now gets Lauded as "the true nerd" because he freaks out during his streams in a way the classic AVGN would do (and there is a pretty good chance James is just adopting Mike's mannerisms for his character)

This was around the time Bootsy left and Mike posted a picture of a dick on the official sub, causing a bit of shitstorm. He was already kind of hated because he just kept being embarrassing in public (weird sex posts on official accounts, the elmo and gadget videos, the Loco Bandito strips, etc).

Most of the AVGN fans are very casual watchers that drop in every once in while to watch the latest one, so most don't even notice some of the things that have happened.

The Rex Viper videos were hosted on the Cinemassacre channel until a few months ago where a separate channel was made. My theory is that Screen Wave told James the harsh truth and he decided to just keep it going because autism.

You seem to just not get it. The band is awful. They wish they were mid. And they're not promoting the videos for Rex Viper because no one wants to watch it. It should be very obvious with everything we now know that ScreenWave has say on the Cinemassacre channel and it looks like they're shutting down any more Rex Viper content to be hosted on there.
