James essentially re-purposed the talking points from this video for the AVGN Contra episode. He even opens the video saying "I don't think this would make for an AVGN video." He probably forgot he made this a decade ago but kept a script with talking points.

Move this thread back to the lolcow subforum or internet famous or even beauty parlor where fat girls can argue about other fat girls.

I love these little edits. Because I barely watched any of the Rental Reviews for obvious reasons (hint: they sucked) but this dude made it funny at least. I am blown away that Justin and Tony liked The Predator AKA Predator 4 AKA The One Where The Predator's Hijack Autism In Humans To Inject Themselves With Autism Because (according to the logic of the movie) Autism is the Next Form of Human Evolution. That's a long ass alternate title I tell you what. It's obvious that James didn't like it (good on him) but he either didn't want to upset or just agreed with them to just get the video over with because he didn't feel like arguing with the tards.

Another Reddit tard making 5:40, “Sleepy Bimmy”, and “No Time” videos. They’d be funny if there wasn’t 5 other people making the exact same jokes in the exact same way so they can post it on TCT for instant gratification updoots.

The worst thing about the new episodes is AVGN's voice. His screaming and fake anger are ear piercing and not funny, I can't put my finger on it. Probably just can't put his heart into it.

They're still watchable though and sometimes good. People hated the Majora's Mask episode, I liked that one.

It was rarely genuinely " LOL" funny, but it was humorous and entertaining. I never cared for the skits or characters like Shit Pickle or Glitch Gremlin, but his acting and his points were more genuine, which is where the real humor was derived from, being relatable.

... I kinda went into the Contra episode thinking we all knew it was gonna repeat some beats from the Contra Memories thing. I know I would've been weirded out if he didn't retell the "beat Contra before breakfast" story.

I personally still thought there was enough new to make it worthwhile (particularly, Memories only discussed the first Contra, not any of the sequels).

The AVGN episode was still overall good but I just found it funny that it was made of up of a rehashed video.

I think he's just hedging his bet that not everyone who watches AVGN also watches his other content. And to be fair to Contra specifically, there was a decades-long gap between the Memories and the AVGN ep.

Not to sound like I'm sucking up to the guy or anything, its just I can see the possible rationale for this... aside from (or in addition to) just laziness.

Too true.

I think I may have said something like this already, but one reason I like James content is he remembers stuff the way a kid growing up in the 80s and 90s would. It's most noticable with his Zelda timeline video, where at one point he goes on about how the title "A Link to the Past" implies a prequel.

A modern day youtuber or someone younger would've not brought that up, or dismissed it as a localization thing and been all "Japan version is canon and that version is called Triforce of the Gods," or just cited the Hyrule Historia.... but James' video is easier to appreciate because he's essentially talking about Zelda as I remember it.

I really wish he had done more Chronologically Confused videos.
