i like the new vid. Had no idea that location was used for so many power rangers, star trek, etc. shots. I knew about that one other mountain place that was used in Power Rangers, Star Trek and Bill & Ted

Did James Sperg off about Vasquez Rocks again?

That place really isn’t that significant.

One of my favorite things is when James is shown a modern game and it completely blows his mind.

He really is a boomer.
It might have already been pointed out, but a while back him and Mike are doing something with a 360 dashboard on the screen behind them, and he has no idea what he's looking at.

one reason I like James content is he remembers stuff the way a kid growing up in the 80s and 90s would.
Same, as that was the entire point of the AVGN "character"; some old man who was still mad at the toys he used to have way back in the day and refusing to let it go. Which made people finding out he wasn't someone who kept playing vidya into adulthood something of an autistic personal slight.

Holy Hell, those responses. I know people living through other people is nothing new, but this is pathetic. This response is my favorite though

What a fucking loser. Imagine having your identity based off of a person reviewing games then crying about it. What a bunch of incels

1 Corinthians 13:11
"When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."
This what was taught to previous generations. For some reason, recently, our generation is proudly defying this.

It's perfectly OK to outgrow video games, comic books, toy collecting, and such. The last game console I had was a PS3. I barely played it, compared to the hours I put into gaming as a youth.

So I don't get why people try to push James outside his wheelhouse. There are still so many shitty 8-bit and 16-bit games to cover. When he has done 21st century console games, it sucks. Check out his awful Drake of the 99 Dragons review for example.

That’s that entire subreddit in a nutshell.

And thing of it is, he did like vidya and did have a (albeit much smaller until he got more money) videogame collection. They're just mad that wasn't the only thing he did, and only liked the shit he had growing up.

I thought you were going to quote Ghost in the Shell but yeah.

3000 games, and he's only been collecting since he discovered the AVGN? What a consoomer.

I still play videogames, read comics, anime, etc. Though I have a job and college and prioritize them. It's summer already and days I feel a lot more aimless when I don't have college for a few months. Growing up also comes with the discovery that being productive actually can make you just as happy, and you need a good balance. Find a lifestyle you like and can sustain. James did find it with filmmaking as he could enjoy a medium he liked (movies) while making a profit.

Redditors probably get their consoomer collections from stimmy money and can't comprehend productivity actually bringing happiness. There's a reason they're so miserable.

Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie
Very late but no I have to disagree, To Boldly Flee Is way worse , at least James actually had passion for the film and he did genuinely work for years on this ‘magnum opus’ of a film. Even if it’s turned out terribly, it doesn’t seem cynical in any way. Oh and the soundtrack genuinely slaps. I can’t say any of that for TBF, the entire production cycle was reportedly hell for everyone involved, and I don’t see any sense of passion or any feeling that anyone enjoyed being in a single frame of that shitshow. It’s not even so bad it’s funny, just a cynical and depressing watch throughout.

"Incels crawling out of the woodworks to label her a fraud and whatnot"
They just described their own sub but with two letters changed....
"Muh muh muh incels!!1"

I would be part of the group of people who don't watch anything from James' outside of AVGN. I wouldn't have known about him reusing the stuff from Contra memories unless it was pointed out here. So for that, I won't fault him for reusing content from his other stuff
I literally had no idea who Bootsy was for years. Still don't know what he sounds like and don't plan to find out. The one clip I saw of him made him look like a massive douche.

AVGN was the worst movie I've ever personally seen. I've never seen To Boldly Flee because I never followed Nostalgia Critic, but everything I've heard about it just sounds like cancer.

Movies by YouTubers are their own crock of shit, and might even be worth making a thread over. The best one I've seen is the first Ashens one, and it was just boring and I don't remember anything about it

AVGN movie was a 'competently made' unfunny movie. The NC videos were handycams pointed at autists who legitimately had nothing resembling an idea on what to do. In that sense I give James the point because I felt like if he had the same money, same equipment, and same timeframe but someone elses script and better actors, he could have made something funny or worth watching, whereas give Doug that same cash, time and technical resources, it would somehow look every bit as awful as his handycam kino.

"Loser" would be an improvement, there's genuinely something wrong with him. He treats gaming like fags treat "coming out", and his identity is so strongly rooted in not only old video games but also strongly dependent upon other people validating him through them living similarly.

In fact, that way of thinking also sounds similar to fags... I wonder if he's in the LGBTBBQ acronym, it would surprise me if he's not. He's at least an effeminate libtard.

Also, he's wrong about James being full of himself. He seems about as humble and nice as they come. He mentioned they played a game he worked on, I wonder what it was?

To be honest, I liked the AVGN movie when it was first released. But it was back before AVGN saw any significant drop in quality, and my opinion of James was at an all time high. He was (and to an extent, still is) the type of content creator where I don’t care what he makes, as long as he enjoys making it. I could tell that the movie was a big passion project, and that made me enjoy it more. Though looking back, some parts of it were definitely bad, and I feel like if I rewatched it, I would “realize” how bad it actually is, so I want to at least preserve my nostalgia for it.

Speaking of which, I finally got around to playing the AVGN 1+2 remastered collection, and several things have been changed for legal reasons. All the ScrewAttack/e-celeb cameos are gone, Nostalgia Critic is replaced with Fred Fuchs as the second game’s recurring villain… and all references to the movie have been removed. Did they really want people to forget about it that badly? The wiki says the movie characters are owned by Screenwave, but Screenwave also made the game, so that shouldn’t matter.
