Screenwave Media employee Sean O'Rourke is credited in every video this year. He replaced Kieran. James' deal with Screenwave is at least very different from the one he had with ScrewAttack. In his book he mentions how several of his close friends - likely Kyle and Bootsy - were very against the deal and practically begged him not to take it.

Because they actually and genuinely HATE James. A few people on there are those who wanna post stuff without the real AVGN Reddit banning it like the old days. Some despise James because of the Bootsy departure and their (incorrect) perception of the Kyle Justin departure.

Others are ones who Truthed Out (similar to Trooning Out but more niche) when Screenwave showed up out of nowhere in 2017.

Which, to go off on a tangent, could have really been avoided had James put out a video where he told everyone that he’s been doing the videos for over 10 years now with just him and Mike and that he’s starting to get burnt out. He and Mike don’t want to stop making videos but they wanna get some help with the vids moving forward.
That’s when Ryan, who we’d seen here and there up to this point could introduce Tony, Justin and Kieran and explain that they work at Screenwave and they’re going to be helping out.

It was the way they just appeared out of nowhere that was so jarring to people, myself included.

Transparency has always been something James has been VERY bad at and a lot of the problems could have been avoided had he just been more transparent.

I’ve been watching some of the James and Mike Mondays lately and seeing those have got me wondering if there are any other YouTube shows like James and Mike Mondays.
i already know about OneyPlays but that’s really hit or miss (I mostly enjoy the Zach episodes but it also depends on the game) and GameGrumps hasn’t been good since almost the beginning.

The audio is bad and I'm not even 10 seconds in. But -I'm just talking out loud- aren't they violating some anti-trust shit by not disclosing James' relationship with Screenwave? Not that I think anything will come of it but the internet just loves to nail Youtuber asses to the wall over that kind of shit but that was when Youtubers were shilling gambling and gambling-lite shit.

Personally I think it's sadder to be an A-log of Cinemassacre than the whole rex viper shit myself. Guy's just going through a mid-life crisis and he's just trying something new to feel young. This'll eventually pass and he's just gonna move onto something else.

Who knows, he'll probably make a series of short movies based on the movies he used to make as a kid. Maybe even collab with doug walker for it.

I would somewhat agree with you if Rex Viper had been a tiny little gag he did during the pandemic and made those few music videos, as bad as they were.

But no, James has doubled down to the point of performing live numerous times despite never rehearsing with the band, and he regularly promotes the live videos on social media like it's a legit thing he wants everyone to follow. The live performances never have positive feedback on Youtube, and hell, look at the audience reaction in the official uploads.

When I checked Twitter the other day and saw Cinemassacre unironically share their October Portland show -- and treat it like it was something they were proud of -- I visibly cringed, and then cringed harder after watching it.
