Sort of AVGN adjacent, but I've heard Frankie Frain of the Red Cow Arcade podcast mention twice in YT videos this week that him, EJ and his channel are more-or-less retired from covering James Rolfe news.

He mentioned it in his latest podcast clip in a context I can't recall while discussing another topic.

He alluded to it again while on a livestream with fellow Rex Viper alog Josh/Dancing with Ghosts on their channel. Where the host Josh, who runs a music critique channel, was talking about how his own Rex Viper alog videos finally pushed his channel to the next level after toiling away for a decade with triple digit video views.

Josh went on to mention that he invited Frankie on to his channel recently to participate in some "Top 10 AVGN" content. But Frankie politely declined as he's over anything AVGN despite its link to his own channel's growth.

Looks like that's working out great for them lol

I find it incredible that such a small and relatively obscure channel is able to operate a podcast behind the Patreon paywall (full episodes paywalled, podcasts recorded every two weeks, clips later posted to YT).

Red Cow also has two roughly equivalent channels on YT: Red Cow Entertainment which hosts their mostly defunct series Box Mac where they review macaroni and cheese & Red Cow Arcade, which mostly hosts podcast clips talking about what Marvel & Disney properties they streamed recently.

It was the podcast clips channel that made a couple of AVGN videos around the Newt Wallen/Monster Madness plagiarism era that went sort-of viral in terms of YT and TheCinemassacreTruth attention.

I recently watched the interview with Dancing with Ghosts and there Frankie tells that he got a full time job so the podcast is just a hobby of sorts.

Considering Frankie (and EJ) both view Youtube as a hobby, I'd say it is.

Don't forget, Frankie has made *multiple* films, has a loving wife and daughter and multiple friends that he not only spends tons of time with, but also seemingly enjoy taking part in Youtube WITH him.

So I'd say he's doing much better than James overall.

I listened to the interview with Dancing With Ghosts as well (the Josh guy wasn't a very polished interviewer IMO & wasted too much time obsessing over his own videos that didn't get views).

AFAIK, both Frankie & EJ have had FT jobs somewhat related to the corporate editing/digital media industry for a long time. They keep it fairly discreet though and only refer to their day jobs obliquely.

My comment about their small podcast being paywalled was more stating my surprise that they had enough paying customers to paywall it even before their AVGN criticism went viral when their decades old YT channel was below 20k subs.

I'm glad he did it, but he acts like he accomplished some Herculean task just by going out to the movies.
The guy is married with two kids, right? I don’t think it’s ever been established how old the kids are, but fatherhood may make just going to the movies to do a YouTube review abig task for James. I think I remember him saying that at one point, he had to make sure his kids were sleeping before recording AVGN episodes.

MUH KIDS is a meme for a reason. I think most families have at least one parent working full-time. They don't bring a baby monitor into work with them and make a big deal about making time for MUH KIDS.

1: He "works" from home (his AVGN studio is in his garage) so he is always in the same house as the kids.
2: He has a wife that is a teacher, i don't know how much she makes but my guess is that a productive James would be the bigger breadwinner
3: His kids seems to be around 7 & 9. He has been unable to work in any consistent pace since around 2016. So i guess he got some really messy and high maintenance kids then.

Listen, i ain't pissed that he chooses to be a stay-at-home dad, it's just that he tries to keep on the lie that he is still as active as ever, if he, instead of blaming his kids told his fans already when it all went dwindling down that "Hey, hanks to my lovely kids, i gotten other priorities, i will keep doing stuff, just not as often, thanks for all the years!" it would've been fine.

Remember the Monster Madness fiasco? two days in they found that it was plagiarized, James who not so long ago professed that it is and always will be his voice and his words coming out had to quickly as hell come up with something to cover the fact he's been working as a hyped up voice over for some time. Now it was "Well what do you expect? Of course i have to get help! But i always put in the final touch... except the plagiarized stuff, that was totally Newt's fault.

He is a wholesome sperg but to believe he is this holy figure is ridiculous, not that i accuse any in this thread for it, but whenever Screenwave can help it, there will be censorship and only "James totally saved my life, guise!" comments allowed.

Didn’t James do a charity drive for Shriners because they helped when one of his kids was born and had some health issues? Wonder if those have stuck around.

I think a lot of Internet people are like that. At least when it comes to not phrasing issues in a way that could save a lot of trouble.

Linkara comes to mind.

What's up with you turning it into a weird competition?

It was nerve damage in her arm and James says she's completely recovered. The kids aren't the problem. I assume it's James' autism and domineering wife causing the current situation.
I think James just does not care about his YT and checked out ages ago.
