I think he could have made a feature had he kept it small scale. But James decided that because he directed hundreds of home movies that he was ready to direct a movie costing about half a million with hundreds of actors and special effect sequences and bullshit. It's a daunting task for anyone and he wasn't up to it. Simple as that. I think his ego and autism are ultimately to blame for it.
