Some things about this paper just don't make sense to me. He wrote a paper about a historical event for English class? And he sprinkled in some Spanish words like Ricardo Weston Chandler, Ingles, and Trabejos "Cited." I looked up what trabejos means, and it does mean work, but in the context of like a job. (I think. I don't really know Spanish)
I don't know about Chris' school, but at the schools I went to, whenever they wanted a paper with a bibliography. they showed us the format to use. Or did Chris not listen to his teacher's instructions? And his paper doesn't really fully explain the reasons that Japan and US went to war. I don't think this quality of writing would have cut it even in most 5th grade classes. Or maybe I went to really tough schools.
And skipping every other line,That's the whole thing? Two pages typed?
What I thought was stupid is that Chris has a name that has a Spanish equivalent. If he had my Spanish teacher, his name would've been Cristobal or Cris, not Ricardo. And yeah, using the names was retarded, but it was a bunch of 13 year olds and it didn't last. CWC still claims the name Ricardo. I wonder what the motivation was? What was his Spanish bear for that name? The teacher? Another student? Has the name Richard ever appeared elsewhere in his life? Or is it as simple as some sort of I Love Lucy connection? I don't want to accept it as being THAT simple.
Now granted, my experience with American high schools is somewhat limited, but surely this is way, way below what would normally be considered adequate for a passing grade?
"On my honor, I, Christian W Chandler....."

Okay, so
I've got a Masters in History. After recovering from my initial reaction to seeing this paper, I had to make an official recording of it.
So,
A very quick, and I hope, fitting dramatic reading/ documentary film based on Chris' writing.
God help me, God help us all.

On my Legos, I will trySounds like he's trying to recite the Girl Scout pledge:
"On my honor, I will try
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout law"
And ironically, by doing so, it did more harm for their son than good.Bob probably ranted at the principal/teacher, threatened to sue and brought up the lawsuit he tried in the past to show he meant business while Barb cussed up a storm and also threatened to sue.
Does anyone else think it's ironic how Chris' essay resembles some of the defining moments of World War II?
