What parts of the game are pretentious? Was it the MP3 players that dumped exposition? I remember the developer expressed regret for even including them, but I have no idea why he thought they were a good idea to add in the first place.


It's on his linkedin page. Eagle search group is apparently out of business now and the website is gone. I'd like to give Jason credit for that, but it's more likely they were just not doing anything useful and died after the government money ran out. I think that was recent because I remember reading about them getting some sort of grant from the department of labor for a period of time for god knows what. These grants are all public if anyone is in the mood to research and archive it before it falls off the map.

Yikes, I mentor entry-level people who wrote resumes better than this. You'd think an industry expert with 40 years of experience would know to put some actual impact or KPIs into his shitty resume.

I know it has not been the first time but it's one of the few things he'll, begrudgingly, step down from 1337 status.
Considering how important this skill is for a (solo) game director such as himself, it's even funnier.

The grant is DEHS0000086.


So eagle research is not a no name group here, but the DOL grant was for their work with the DMV. That is probably the team that Maldavious was on. Their DOE grant. However, started in 2013 and ended in 2020 and did involve cybersec.

There is a caveat, though. Maldavious was hired and let go within one federal pay session. He may have been fired, or his clearance may have been denied. Looking through this, it paints the picture of someone who either A: acted like a blown hard and got the sponsorship for the clearance, then didn't get it due to something found in the investigation or B: he worked on the DOL grant.

I am of the opinion its B. The DOL grant fits his timeline much better, and doesn't require a clearance. The DOE Grant would almost certainly require L at the minimum. If he got L he only worked for ~6 months and was then either let go or told to resign. If it was Q there is no way he got the clearance or if he did he was only there for a month and something happened that made them let him go.

It's B. Mald has 20 years of experience in holding Ls.

No fucking WAY Jason knows 2 languages, let alone all 6. So he's just putting his writing through some automated slop program and delivering garbage translations to his audience.

He often brags about paying his translators well, so he doesn't do it himself. I think he says it's hard to translate the game because he has to put lines in languages he doesn't speak into the huge array and make sure they're assigned to the correct index value. Weird of him to complain about that, since he has also made a youtube short bragging about how the genius array makes localization super easy. I can't find it though, probably deleted it out of embarrassment.

I saved this clip a few days ago of mald reading an email he sent to Tobyfox, the developer of undertale. It's not much, and it's awkwardly edited, but i downloaded it in order to try and read the emails in full. However i found it interesting that mald messaged toby to tell him he had gotten hate from Undertale fans. It seems to be a recurring thing when he's looking for sympathy and attention.
