He's right in that he didn't put the shield down but he's wrong. Counter Rush is a guard mechanic that triggers when blocking beam attacks that allows you to charge at the beam's source. You don't lower your shield and cancel your guard, you have to keep it up to even do a counter rush. Problem is: Shields are a line-of-sight damage avoidance tool. If the damage source is in front of your raised shield, you're peachy and safe. If the damage source is above your shield and your shield isn't--or can't be--moved to compensate for the direction change then the shield does nothing.

So it just makes him look stupid and bad at the game. I feel like it's a way of dying in wilds that only happens because people aren't thinking. Not that I would know, I only pirated World and Rise the other day to see if I'd like those games and I've never played the series before now.
That's also a very good point, why the fuck is he shooting at melee range? If you're gonna shoot your gun it's best to get away from the literal tentacle monster that wants to rip your guts out, Doomguy is a terrible rolemodel. It's also just a rifle with a bayonet on steroids, so why isn't he using it? I feel like Gunlance's moveset might allow you to get melee hits in and potentially back up to shooting range, but again, Monhun noob here.

Gunlance firing range is nothing unless you specifically use wyvern fire (the charge up move) and even then it's low-mid range at best.

The entire point of gunlance's kit is that you melee and detonate on each swing, there are moves like downward swings which end on an explosion that causes the weapon to fling it back up to attacking position, these moves also do a shitload of damage and are the bread and butter of the weapon, gunlance might look like a long gun with a bayonet but it plays more like a guandao with bombs attached to the end of it. MH Milds also introduced perfect guards to all weapons with shields on them, but since he's fucking awful at the game he just slobbers his thumb over the block button like a scared turtle.

The weapon he should be using is a light bowgun, it can support and lets you range shit at a safe-ish distance, but my man also wants his turtle mode safe space so instead he chooses to play garbage builds he believes make him a 400 IQ master.

It's why I called it the worst gunlance playstyle. The gunlance has 3 types of shelling: normal, long, wide. Each have their own characteristics. Normal has most of the ammo and is therefore best used with burst (the one where you unload all at once). Long boosts your charged shot damage and wide has the most damage per shot and I think more wyvern fire damage iirc. That's why on normal you rely on slam into burst while with wide you do the classic poke+shoot. But on long, some people do the charge shots only.

Which is imo fucking retarded to play because it's a gunLANCE. You might as well indeed be playing a bowgun if you only do charge shots imo. It's why, while I only play GL only occasionally, I always avoid the long shell GL ones if I can.

For those who dont play: gunlance is a lance and shield weapon that has a gun attached to the lance. You can do swings and pokes and then do a short range shooting attack in between melees (think squall from ff 8 or you can just do shots on their own and you have to reload once you're out of ammo. One of the attacks is slamming down the lance and then unloading all the ammo, or you can do charged shots or normal shots plus two other types of special attacks so the gunlance can be played with at least 3 play styles like I mentioned above.

I'm sure he'd be that kind of charge blade player that never use the super amped element discharge and never charge the sword. And instead just spam normal element discharge.

It being a slow weapon and one where it's high risk, high reward I can see why he's not using it given his roach gameplay style.

I have not thought much about this but just hearing this it sounds shady? Maybe it's just my bias thinking but a company he works for is announcing a donation bundle where 25% of the profit goes to his private rescue that isn't registered as a charity...which means he can be as opaque as he wants to...right?

Speculation: is he at the point where he has to start looking for other avenues of income to keep up his 50+ ferrets now that his streaming career got cut down to 30% of what he had?

If i have to take a guess i would think his nepotism bleeds trough every aspect of his life... Including subconscious decision. So he striving to hit the same sweet spot of nepotism back then at blizzard when he done jack shit but he wasn't annoying enough to got rid of him... + sprinkled a lil ego boost top of that.

I think there's a post on here showing his ferret rescue isn't registered as a charity but instead under piratesoftware(which I don't think is illegal) but the other stuff seems pretty damning if true. Does anyone know if there is a way to check if mald's ferret rescue(officially snail's house ferret rescue) is actually not registered as a ferret rescue with washington state?

Here's a tldr from a previous look into it.

tl;dr Ferret Sanctuary is part of Pirate Software because he didn't want to bother with 501cs. This feels like its going to cause many problems that could have been resolved by just starting a different company. There are many ways to donate on the Ferret Software Channels, with the implication that they are going towards looking after the Ferrets, but Jason has given himself wiggle room to pocket it and call you stupid for interpreting things the way he wanted you to interpret them.

And that leads me to my next concern - I did a search of every nonprofit registered with the IRS in Washington with the words "snail" "ferret" "Rescue" "hall" "Jason" "thor" "pirate" "sanctuary", and a few others that may possibly indicate Snail's House. And nothing ever came up. Nor is his rescue listed with the Ferret Association of Washington, any public facing animal shelter, Ferret owner's club, or animal control. His rescue has absolutely no footprint at all anywhere and no paper trail.

There are also no surrender forms on his website or anywhere to be found. If I had an injured or sick ferret and I decided that Snail's House is a good home for it and wanted to surrender it, there is no way for me to do it or even get in contact with it - So where the fuck is he getting these supposedly distressed ferrets if not a pet store?

And my more speculative concern - Since he doesn't have any registration with the IRS, and there are no records of any form 990s, he is *not* a non-profit. Now why would any shelter, even one used in this manner not be registered as a non-profit? There are numerous tax breaks you could get for it even if you had more nefarious intentions. Because he can't. The ferret streams are tied directly to his personal streams which he profits from. He has both a reputational and financial incentive for hoarding these Ferrets because of the ad revenue of the streams. And being able to point to his work as a rescue is a PR smokescreen for his online persona. He can't separate them and give them their own independent streams with their own independent accounting because he wouldn't be able to leverage it for his own gain.

This would also explain why he does not adopt them out once they are rehabilitated, as every other shelter does. These are not animals that can't be adopted out, like big cats, wolves, or other exotics. These can absolutely be treated, rehabilitated, and found another home. But he doesn't do that - and my belief is because he needs them for ad revenue.

This is in my opinion no better than dog fighting - neglecting these animals for personal and financial gain.
