Granted, I've seen a few videos from their channel before, in the last two months, and I hadn't seen anything that set off any big red flags to me. That said, I only found myself watching a few short videos here and there, as well as their Legend of Korra review, and I don't even remember the shorter videos. It never really occurred to me that they might be a bit "off" until the Steven Universe video.

I mean, there was also the very masculine voice with the female avatar, but that wasn't really a big deal to me. I thought it was ironic at first, and then I sort of assumed from listening that they were Trans, and I didn't really mind or care that much, but I digress.

The Steven Universe video started off pretty decent IMO, with the shit about hiatuses and the varying quality of animation, lack of Pre-Production, etc.; I like the show a lot, but I have really grown a bit critical recently, so I found that video somewhat entertaining at first, but then they started likening the Diamonds to Nazis, calling Sugar & Co. Alt-Right Apologists, and talking about how moderate White people were problematic, and then I looked and noticed that the video wasn't even halfway through, and got the idea that I was in for about two hours of sperging out over imaginary Nazis by a person who was looking a little too deep into a show meant primarily for younger people.

Sort of funny, though, I knew that Lilly Orchard was heavy into MLP stuff prior to that video, just seeing video titles, but to learn that they're actually reviled by the MLP Fandom at large is sort of funny, in an ironic manner.

I find it funny as hell though they love Avatar: The Last Airbender, but they litterally redeem uncle iro and zuko aka two metaphorical nazis who are actually hunting to basically kill the last jew, but yet condemns steven universe for doing the same with the diamonds.

Overly verbose stories about very little, padded with “worldbuilding” and overly simplistic themes to the point of being drab and uninteresting.

Now I know why he hasn't released Tales of the Valkyr.

He's afraid it'll be criticized for the same shit he's criticizing Tolkein, Martin, Lewis, and now Pratchett for.

Now, granted, I can understand not liking classical literature (and whatever A Song of Ice and Fire is), but he shouldn't downplay the impact things like LotR and Narnia (and even things like Scarlet Letter, which I've seen him dunk on before) have had. And I doubt he does, until I see otherwise.

I also love how he says that the genre needs "actual creativity".

Jerry, the main character of your magnum opus WoW fanfiction is a wish-fulfillment Mary Sue who can kill God. Stop pretending like you're the arbiter of creativity in Sci-fi.

Okay, I have to interject with Pratchett. Maybe it's because he's one of my favorite writers, but I feel like Lily misses the point if she complains he's not "c r e a t i v e" and is "o v e r l y v e r b o s e".

The man knows that he's writing for all sorts of people, and doesn't generally waste too much time setting a scene, conflict or adding flavorful words. To give a sample,

Is that verbose? Is that spending too much time on the world-building? This is the entire prologue to The Color of Magic, the first of the Discworld series. That's a mere two pages, with rather large print, to describe the world.

And the lack of creativity and overusage of "simplistic themes"? You can tell Lily's never read a Pratchett book, since almost all of them rely on subversion and bringing parallels to the modern world, with a large chunk of them touching on real-world issues. For example, Snuff, third fastest selling novel in the UK since records began, covers issues of slavery and might honestly be the quickest rundown of African American history in the US whilst still remaining a fantasy novel with goblins, crossbows, and your usual fantasy fare. And even so, that's not even touching into other books of Pratchett's that are just as good if not better, like Going Postal, Hogfather or Mort.

I can agree that Tolkien has issues getting to the point and maybe the theming in Narnia isn't the best, but trying to entirely discount their works wholesale is beyond fucking stupid.

But, then again... Lily also thinks you need to be left-leaning to be a person.

Jerry, who says he’s a transwoman, once created an edgy af character who destroys planets, is able to kill God (yes, that God), and espouses political views Jerry jacks off to. One day recently, it seems Jerry suddenly thought “why isn’t this character a woman?” And then turned him into a transwoman, just like him!

This is the pinnacle of sci-fi. You can’t get much better than this. This is peak storytelling.

I am loving the fact that I found out about this directly after he made a post talking about how Tolkien and Lewis weren’t “creative” enough for him.

Because according to him, you don’t need worldbuilding or character development or the literal invention of your own language or any of that silly stuff to have a good, creative sci-fi story! You just need a main character who is undefeatable by any of the Dragon Ball characters and a cast of characters who are primarily LGBT (because that’s supposed to be the most important and most interesting part of them) and have the power to kill the Hebrew God! And god forbid you be culturally insensitive. Destroying planets filled with people, families, children, and LGBT people is okay but if you brand a brown female character for being a rapist? Fucking toxic.

Don’t forget the LGBT. Jerry made it very clear that his characters have some kind of LGBT orientation.

...In the end, isn't that what any good, decent human being should WANT to happen? For "bad" people to change their ways? It's one thing if someone's a homicidal maniac, but it's another thing if they're just suffering from their own ignorance and prejudice. When it comes right down to it, people who think like Lily just want the people that DON'T to suffer--or even die--and that is the polar fucking opposite of being a good person. You don't fucking want people to suffer, nor continue to be ignorant and potentially spread it. You don't hurt the PERSON. You don't get rid of the PERSON, you get rid of the IGNORANCE AND PREJUDICE. You can't just sit around behind the safety of a screen and passive-aggressively tell people to stop, or wish them harm. You have to fucking get out there, and be around other people, TALK to other people. They're going to be more willing to listen to you and consider what you have to say if you actually treat them like a human being.

Daryl Davis dismantled an entire chapter of the KKK by befriending them. A literal skinhead did a complete 180 after befriending his black female parole officer. People like Lily can't allow for redemption in others because they're too fucking BITTER. They don't have room in their hearts for forgiveness, because it's too full of resentment. And yeah, I get it--I know I'm too naïve and optimistic for my own good (which has gotten me into plenty of trouble). But there is just...no fucking reason not to give people a chance if they still have the capacity to change, especially if they're a goddamn CARTOON CHARACTER IN A SHOW INTENDED TO TEACH CHILDREN HOW TO NOT BE INTOLERANT, HATEFUL PIECES OF SHIT.

In slight defense, there's nothing wrong with enjoying some simple-minded storytelling sometimes. Not every piece of fiction has to involve deep, thought-provoking themes and morales.
Sometimes you just want to watch Looney Tunes and get a good laugh, or play Doom to plow through some demons.

I don't want to bring more attention on Jerry's mom, because I imagine some of his fans heckle her already, but she posts about and talks about being Native on her facebook page, as well as shares a bunch of Native-American related things on her page. Unless she's making it up (and we have no way of telling), then I'm inclined to believe that Jerry's telling the truth about having a Native background.

I've only seen him use it as a badge of oppression a very small handful of times, maybe just once or twice. He's not making posts every day about how the damn colonizers trampled his lands or whatever. And even then, I remember some of his old perspectives. He believed that it was okay to tear down a church or some holy spiritual ground if you needed to make a farm or a restaurant or some place to sustain yourself/your community. I believe his wording was "I think God will forgive you if you have to tear down a church for a farm" or something along those lines. Granted, sure, that was 3-4ish years ago, but 3-4ish years ago, he wasn't as big of a lying, hypocritical fag.
