Read part 9's first chapter:
really like the sibling dynamic and like how Jodio is a major fucking dork. surprised we seem to be going for a heist plot but as a lupin fan I am down for it.
Get the vibe this is a weird "its like poetry, it rhymes" approach since we see that its about the start of an empire of wealth like the Joestars had in part 1, and I assume Araki will probably make this his last part just due to how old he is.
I like the whole ability of November Rain being either pain reflection like early giorno's magic bullshit or just shit passing through him like it's kidney stones
also wtf why the hustle as a stand ability araki thats cursed as shit
also Smooth Operator is like Kiss mixed with Harvest
ITS HERE MOTHERFUCKERS GET TO READING

Also dragona isnt intersex, just a dude. The cop gets turned on when he finds out he's been diddling a boy.
Araki is probably gonna get weird with it, I trust him writing this sorta shit so whether the character ends up trans, a trap, gnc, or the second coming of Mikitaka It will probably be unconventional for this sorta shit but well written

I like that Jodio is a fucking crack dealer and has committed so many crimes in one chapter. Though I feel like Part 8 Josuke is going to be the Japanese guy they're robbing.

Why is this manga called "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure" anyway? What's so "bizarre" about it?

I guess the title had more context in part one, at least before Hamon Energy is introduced and it becomes just your typical shonen fighting manga.

I love that they were just like "yeah, lets make Reverse Giorno, whatcha gonna do about it?"

Just finished reading the chapter from the /a/ thread. Really strong start.
As someone who is pretty critical of part 5 when people ask me what I don't like about it I always say that we never really get any real criminal/mobster activity from your mobster criminals besides Giorno doing some pickpocketing some folks very early on, the discussion of drug trafficking and the killing of other monsters (this is among other things). Watching Jodio and Dragona do some straight up nefarious shit and seeing a heist get planned is fucking awesome and I can't wait to see how it plays out. love all the character designs so far especially Dragona

From what I read she gets sexually assaulted but uses her Stand to change her vagina into a penis because her Stand can change matter. So I guess that technically she can be but that's a temporary thing.
Ok so just wanna say for the record I was completely wrong on this one lol

So far looks promising, like @MightyBiteySnake said one of the most disappointing aspects of Part 5 was that the mafia background barely played a part in the story so it's great to see that at least here Jodio starts already as a low level grunt and doing all kind of criminal shit and his stand look awesome and pretty menacing. Personality wise he definitely is a welcome change after the stoic Josuke of Part 8, hopefully Araki doesn't neuters him at the end like he did with Gappy and Giorno.

Secondaries have great personalities so far and cool powers, hot dog guy seems that will be fun. Seeing that next chapter is going to be about the heist of the Japanese guy I expecting that's when the main plot starts kicking.

Can't wait to see more of zoomer Jojo.

Honestly Jojo has some really great starting chapters, Araki really knows how to open a story. I also like how this story looks like it has a much simpler plot compared to Jojolion
We say that now. 50 chapters later there is a non-zero chance the gang is fighting cthullu. Anything can happen in the bizarre adventure.

Not that I care for Google, but it just so happened that Jojolands Vol.1 was at one point trending as the fifth trending topic on their site. Probably the first time I've ever seen something like that when it comes to an Alphabet company.

@Saxxon I'm not sure if I would call Gappy stoic, he's certainly a cool customer (which I think is mostly to contrast him to the very eccentric and wacky Higashikatas) but he had his hot-blooded and goofy moments that I think made him a very fun JoJo as he continued to develop through Part 8. He had to make choices for himself that impact how the story progresses as he progresses as a person and character, unlike Giorno.

I think the immediate connections to Giorno are interesting; Jodio's name literally being a portmanteau of "Jo" and "Dio", Jodio being introduced laying a beatdown on a corrupt character trying to take advantage of him, being a criminal and having an absent father (who we are led to believe had a poor relationship with Barbara Ann) are all pretty straightforward. One minor allusion part 5 I'm not seeing people discuss is that the gang is getting their first job (and introduced to a new gang member) but a literal giant a la polpo.

I'm gonna be very interested to learn the mechanics of Jodio's power, immediately it reminds me of the way the WoU redirected rain drops to attack Gappy and Mamezuku.

Well at least that's the way I felt about Gappy by the end but to be fair that's probably because in my opinion he never really strike me as an interesting Jojo and his character arc didn't really left an impression on me.

You are right about the Part 5 parallelisms on the way the gang works and given how all the members so far are stand users my bet is that Qi has one as well. Also Smooth operators gave me a lot of Sex pistols vibes.

I knew that I wasn't the only one that thought of that, the big difference is that WoU made the raindrops kind of "melt" them while Jodio's seems to just apply a lot of pressure like a punch probably his way to do a stand rush: literally angrily pissing on his enemies.

haven’t had the opportunity to read the new chapter yet but on the topic of Part 5, I started watching the anime recently (read the manga a few years ago) and the biggest issue is that Giorno is a goodie-two-shoes with the biggest Mary-sue red flag, he’s always right even when he realistically shouldn’t be. Like his one cool moment of development is in the Babyface fight when he figures out that he can use Gold Experience to replace damaged body parts, and that’s literally it. The whole “drugs bad” motivation was honestly also kinda nonsensical. It would’ve been better if the central ideological conflict was completely centered around Bruno, who sees his men and the people in his turf as his family, versus Diavolo, who sees people as nothing more than tools to be disposed of when their existence is no longer convenient.

I would definitely like to see how “what if Giorno but actually a criminal” plays out throughout this part.

Yeah not to mention how Giorno also is a static background character throughout his own part. Like he has what the pretentious people call the "Flat Character arc" where he exists to uplift others, but that doesn't mean he's good. He's definitely the weakest Jojo whose only a sort of interesting character up until he meets the gang.
