My biggest gripe from the past 2 or 3 years or so involving jojo was finally getting into Jojo as a whole despite being reccomended it for like way over a decade. I had vague memories of seeing part of the anime OVA miniseries at some point in my life, but it was one of those weird ones where I wasn't entirely sure if it was a real thing I watched or not for a while. There's so many dumb fuckers out there that either never read the thing or completely disregarded what happened in the story, woobifying some of the more eccentric or morally questionable guys in the series, when in reality said characters could and probably would fucking rip of your face for the hell of it. I think the explosion in popularity a few years ago of n already popular series to the point where it got extremely obnoxious mightve had a bit of an effect on my procrastination on "getting around to checking it out" even worse, and It's one of the few times that's actually happened with me.
Something that really pisses me off is how within the year of 2020 alone jojo merch prices have suddenly gone through the roof and official reissues of figures are releasing at scalper prices from retailers. The only articulated figure I've been able to grab was the white variant of yoshikage kira, but now that one's been bumped up to absurd scalper prices as well.
What makes that situation worse is there's no an entire subgenre of youtube video where people essentially brag about paying over 100 dollars for the things when they're worth about 50 or 60 dollars. They're really good at translating the 2d art to 3d, but they don't have the QC of a figure that would normally cost over 100 dollars, let alone 60. Common complaints about the figures are that joints are too floppy or the neck peg breaks when trying to change the heads. There's also minor paint defects that show up at times, and even my figure that I got for 50 has 2 or 3 spots where the paint kinda fucked up. Kinda wish I had felt the need to get these a few short years back when they were 50 dollars and freqently went on discount for 30.
We are in a timeline where the only affordable jojo figures are nendoroids, and even then that's a questionable statement because some of those get bought up and scalped to hell like Jotaro and Dio.
I've recently gotten the 2 part 4 Nendoroids I ordered early this year, so now I can have kira terrorize manlet versions of josuke and rohan. I also managed getting a mista due to the fact his preorder bonus is literally a part to let him hold his gun like he's shooting it. Wouldve gotten the other part 5 Nendoroids if bad coincidental release timing, money, and scalpers really liking main protagonists didn't get in the way.
This message is reaching a bit too much text for my liking, so I'm going to bring this shit up and stop before I go rambling off on 50 more tangents.
As cheesy as the original part 3 miniseries anime's voice acting can get, and the fact that it skips over some stuff, I really like a lot of things about it. A lot of the scenes where Dio uses The World's timestop and You see things from the perspective of the other characters are genuinely fucking spooky, and overall captured the vibe somewhat better than the newer adaptation of part 3.
