Jon Stewart will return to ‘The Daily Show’ as host — just on Mondays

Comedian Jon Stewart is rewinding the clock, returning to “The Daily Show” as a weekly host and executive producing through the 2024 U.S. elections cycle.

Comedy Central on Wednesday said Stewart will host the topical TV show, the perch he ruled for 16 years starting in 1999, every Monday starting Feb. 12. A rotating lineup of show regulars are on tap for the rest of the week.

“Jon Stewart is the voice of our generation, and we are honored to have him return to Comedy Central’s The Daily Show to help us all make sense of the insanity and division roiling the country as we enter the election season,” Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement. “In our age of staggering hypocrisy and performative politics, Jon is the perfect person to puncture the empty rhetoric and provide much-needed clarity with his brilliant wit.”

Over the years, “The Daily Show” — first hosted by Craig Kilborn, then Stewart and Trevor Noah — has skewered the left and right by making the media a character and playing it absolutely straight, no matter how ridiculous.

I'm not even sure what this is about, but some people are angry enough at him on twitter to get him trending.
He really is one of the Trump deranged? lol. That is the most pathetic thing possible. Jon Stewart, the liberal vanguard, the one that inspired every bugman to screech out in glee after he announced his return, now reduced to the ranks of raving psychos like Stephen King and Keith Oldermann.

I love it. The Year of the Kiwi rolls holy onwards.

“Ah ‘who’s next’, the persecuted minority of the investment community,” Stewart taunted.
He is far more pathetic than anyone could have thought. Look at those arguments! hAhahahahahahaha. "Eat the rich, am I right, fellow anti-establishment rebels? Vote Biden, he's noble!"

Doesn't he have a brother that's an investment banker? I really wish there was one liberal talking head that wasn't an hypocritical piece of shit.

I was expecting better of him. He has chosen to stoop to the lowest Trump derangement shit. That was foolish. He should have been advised to behave like the adult in the room. He could have eaisly tard-wrangled some conservatives by meeting them halfway in order to con them. All he had to do is not fall to the liberal mean. He has failed, his whole return is already a wash.

That seemed to be what he was doing at first, and he got called a fascist bootlicker by his liberal allies. I wonder if that maybe bent his resolve? Whatever happened, this is the funniest outcome at least. Jon Stewart behaving like Stephen King is another 2024 gift.

Not just conservatives either, he could have talked liberals off the ledge. They're going to be pulling out their hair en masse if Trump wins. They will go insane to the point where they are an imminent danger to themselves and others. They have been driven too far insane for them to be able to handle another Trump presidency. They'll break. The things they always say that conservatives will do, take to the streest with wanton violence, they themselves will be doing. They'll be bombing shit all over. There'll be political assassinations by deranged covens of pink-haired middle aged women.

The videos of them exploding if Trump wins will be enough to reduce them to a state of permanent mockery. Trump really has to win now.

The state of public discourse, at least online, is so many lightyears ahead of any kind of milquetoast mid-aughts humor or """""subversion"""" that this old kike could muster up that it would like be comparing a line to a tetrahedron. Any and every smug, snide remark he'll try to throw out into the zeitgeist will be instantly, if not preemptively, BTFO by the most aggressive, ghoulish, and still catchy kind of distortions imaginable. John Stewart will be 'jakked, he will get choked by a fat-assed Sneed while kvetching "I CAN'T BREATHE." He will be executed and emulsified by chuddies. The future is now old man, and you're not gonna be able to smuckle your way through this one.
Necro-ing you comment. Although that's something I agree with, that is horrific purple prose.
They aren't the only two. Literally every property owner in NYC overstates the value of their property.
Every property owner everywhere.

I don't know how I could stand this kind of entertainment before. Maybe its just me, but after unplugging for so long, watching this is unbearable. Let me share my pain with you.

Jon Stewart Claims Apple Stopped Him Interviewing FTC Chair On His Podcast

Stewart asked Khan why Apple and other big tech companies were “afraid” to have public conversations on various issues, to which she replied: “I think it just shows one of the dangers of what happens when you concentrate so much power and so much decision-making in a small number of companies.”

Jon Stewart Slams How the News Media Is Covering Trump’s Trial

“Are you trying to make this O.J.? It’s not a chase — he’s commuting,” Stewart said on Monday’s “Daily Show.”

Seriously. They really must be afraid of Trump winning if they gotta bring back Stewart to make sure the old millennials vote the right way.
They are so afraid, that's why they have implemented a media blackout around Trump and aren't constantly making him look like a martyr with their smear campaigns and toothless lawfare.
After all he really opposed them with operation warp speed or when signing multiple trillion dollar spending bills.
Or with his stance of more immigration than ever, but legal.
I think he really frightened those swamp creatures when he made Wilbur Ross commerce secretary.

Looking at it, he really is the greatest threat to the establishment.

I am sure if this is considering necro-ing the thread, if so apologies. I haven't watched the Daily Show in forever but it seems like he's taking the piss out of the left more and calling out their hypocrisy? There's even a subtle jab at how these late night hosts always go for low-hanging, Trump jokes:

I don't know, it's nothing earth-shattering but it was not what I was expecting given what I remember from watching it in college. Of course, there's an obligatory "dunking on states and guns" part of it, but it seems like he's not all on board with the DNC-State Approved comedy bandwagon. Am I just viewing him through the rose-tinted glasses of nostalgia?

Stewart and Report era Colbert pretty regularly took on Democrats, even if it was just out of a sense of, "Please do better." It was only after Stewart left and Colbert went network that things went full on "orange man bad and nothing else matters" in late night comedy. Democrats had to warn their congress members away from doing Colbert's "Better Know A District" because he made them look so stupid. His fall into pathetic pandering and TDS was sad to see.

I'm always torn on Jon. He is most definitely a roaring leftist who hates everything about the right and Republicans but he will regularly point out when "his side" are doing something shitty or getting lost in the weeds with tit-for-tat shit. It's a rare quality from an arch-liberal.

Also, i have huge respect for him for pretty much shaming the US government into looking after the 9/11 first responders and their families when they started dropping dead from cancer/respiratory illnesses.

Whatever else you might say about Stewart, he's a perceptive guy. He knows there is a large chunk of his former audience who used to be left but wised up, and if he can draw those views that's an inroad to a demographic no one else on the left can access.

Does he still have TDS?

lol, look it up dipshit. its medical fraud. Like everything else the government pays for, the procedures and treatments and diagnosis' were hilariously over estimated. like how the military pays 90k for a toilet seat. thats why its mostly fiscal conservatives and literally anyone wanting oversight over this shit that tried to put a stop to the blank check. And to really hammer in that point, Jon's own brother is the one who gets all the fucking money that then goes to 9/11 faggots medical bills, so even more reason for Jon to want the government to be his family's paypig.

Sorry, I should have been more specific, when he went after the media it was (almost) exclusively Fox. You're right, I do remember them being a thorn in politicians sides in general. It makes me so sad to see Colbert now; I can't believe the guy who stayed in character to troll a congressional hearing is now a Seth Meyers skin walker. Feels bad.

Likewise, this was a moment of someone using their clout for good and actually doing something beyond tweeting about shit. Although that might be a very :optimistic: take on my part.

Iirc he lost his shit because a lot of the members of that committee didn't bother to show up to the hearing, but they'll be patriotic in September on Twitter? That seems like fair criticism to me, they should do their jobs. Do you have any links about Jon's brother and the other stuff you mentioned?

Yes, I think he does but he isn't totally pozzed by it. He acknowledged that the world didn't end in 2017-2021 and that no matter who is elected, life will go on. A very milquetoast, kumbaya and even that seemed to piss people off.
