I just don't care enough about niche geek controversy anymore. Everything offends somebody and sometimes I agree with why or disagree with why, but most of it still gets forgotten about faster than it ever has any impact on anything. There's no big ongoing PC censorship movement from either progressives or conservatives, just insular little controversies that come and go, honestly

Long story, a year ago, bawg once posted some dumb thing on tumblr(I think the link are on the OP) about how feminist either did nothing wrong or don't have any influence in video game whatever. I told him in his DM he's wrong and showed a link to an article(remember when a feminist group put pressure on Target australian to remove GTA V from it shelf?) BIG MISTAKE. And the ''white people have limited food preference count as mean denigration'' message is probably called it as racism when bog said white have no taste

No actually it is deeply alarming how much content is now under the control of such a limited number of platforms who are making their own judgment calls. People on my side of various politics are getting silenced without explanation, and then we've got politicians seriously floating the idea of felony charges for so much as copyright strikes.

But no, video games were never in danger of mass censorship by the outrage of feminists any more than they were by the outrage of gamergate. We get boycotts over characters being gay and they remain gay. We get boycotts over series being homophobic and they stay homophobic. Disney's star wars generated anger over being too diverse and over not being diverse enough and both sides were wrong; Boyega felt he was treated like a token and his character lazily squandered (which it was) but that wasn't even what the loudest fans were fighting about and neither changed anything. Creators have pretty openly regarded criticisms only as much as they personally wanted to and the only thing actually affecting media are the folks higher up the ladder, it all comes from the top down. Sometimes there's some clueless corporate heads misunderstanding the fan feedback or blowing some complaints out of proportion, but that's always been a thing. At least there's an indie scene now, but yeah, that's beginning to go so corporate, your webhost is now basically your Network Executive.

Here is some more stuff. SJW-flavored censorship is one of the reasons why readership of comics and new animated shows is going down for US-based publications and studios. It is like the "woke" movement is Jack Thompson 2.0 except now it is with SJWs rather than hardcore conservative and religious people.

The pro-censorship political right never went away, but right now it is a certain strain of the political left that is the issue in terms of being the loudest voices in this regard. I am not branding all of the political left with this but rather the woke "liberal" crowd that seems to be the loudest about its promotion of censorship and canceling. Unfortunately, they have a lot of influence and pull in the entertainment industry, social media, and cable news media and conventional publications and these people are just as toxic now as the people they claim to be defending against.

It ain't black and white though. Some people also get "cancelled" because they actually mistreated others; Joss Whedon sure as hell dug his own grave over the years. Cancelling gets ugly and can get misaimed but there also shouldn't be an environment where celebrities get away with whatever they want just on their fame or charisma, it has to be a fair middle ground.

When it comes to media content, I can't even remember the last time almost any work has been pulled or significantly altered for either right wing or left wing complaints. The GTA Target debacle? The most recent bitching I know of regards obscure, irrelevant things like some superheroes rebooted as different races or some characters wearing slightly more clothing, things no normal person is affected by and aren't even all because of controversy. They're still drawing sexy ladies (and dudes) into kid's cartoons and they're still making games where you can rip someone's spine out of their ass.

Wait pokemon vore? That's a thing someone's mad about? I was just a SA goon wannabe who thought peak 2008 internet fun was gawking at gross or scary fan art and all those niche internet fetishes like vore and inflation. By now my opinions have changed to where an adult writing ash ketchum torture fiction or drawing buster bunny's high-res feet over and over is too unpleasant to get any spectacle out of, but if they JUST have the fetish and aren't about pedobait or stalking people then I'd feel bad making fun anyway.

The people aren't mad like this pic make me angry. They are just horrifyingly digusted. And the fact you removed from the page just mean you took it personally when people whined.
Also when gross fetish spread on internet like herpes dosen't mean that people enjoy it(and when I mean people I mean a majority of user) Either don't delete it, ignore complains and be true to yourself, or just learn to better self censor and cut the edge for a wider public... Uh, I don't think that's the kind of thing being brought up. The old forums had "art cringe" and "disturbing images" threads that skewed towards a lot of weird smut, which was common on a lot of sites pre-2010's, like the SomethingAwful hentai reviews and their FYAD forum. I never got any complaints about it and that isn't why the forums went down, that's years before the existence of tumblr, my current webcomic or anything else you follow.

That's a take I've actually never seen before, the horror thing, I always thought the artist meant the kink to be the focus and that there was a harder line between that and the same art being creepy to everyone else. Super Conductive Brains is obviously the artist's fetish, but what I remember from it was just the most frightening sci fi manga I've seen that wasn't Junji Ito.

But that's entirely fair, I know a lot of people just indulged whatever they wanted under the pretense of irony, trolling or shock posting and I'm glad I grew out of that shitlord thinking where anything is fair game as long as it's fiction or an alleged joke. I just didn't think there were that many "real" creeps until I got older, like how I believed "real" racism was rare and I let people run around my forums with nazi icons because they called it satire.

There really isn’t much wrong with liking things like this for ironic reasons. The pokemon eating the girl is pretty gross if you’re looking at it through a horror lens, which I thought it was pretty obvious you were. It’s kind of stupid to criticize you of all people over this. You draw things like this all the time and it’s why people love you.

I would say the same thing about swastikas and nazis though. They make great bad guys in fiction and musicians use the imagery to be shocking all the time. Hellboy, indiana Jones, inglorious basterds, dead snow.. all that good stuff.

I do realize there are national socialist (nazi) people, like on /pol/ or whatever who believe every race of person has a right to their own country, too. There are other people who try to be edgy and provocative on purpose using ironic or real racism, but in this day and age I really don’t think these kinds of people hold much power in the public eye over others besides maybe fighting for the freedom to offend (which is what we all should want too, or there would be no swalot).

I wasn’t going to reply here anymore, Kiwifarms is pretty lame. but I wanted to say I think you’ve been really fair posting this past bit and I want to point out that it’s cool you’ve been showing a lot more humiliation over your political beliefs and what others might believe as well. It seems like you’ve gotten slightly more of an understanding of different ideas of the political spectrum and maybe even see the positives of them all. It comes off as much less spastic and more confident than you ever have in your own beliefs.

Is there anything that has changed at all with you for this?

I really don't care that much about jonathans passed behaviors, but I do like how jonathan likes to justify it with shit like "it was years ago, I was a different person, it was normal back then" but still seems to think people like jim carrey are horrible shitlords for transphobic/homophobic jokes in movies from decades ago and shit.

People are allowed to dislike you for shit you pulled years ago, jonathan.
