For years, when speaking to women he met in social media groups, Jonathan Yaniv inevitably turned the conversation to menstruation and menstrual products, especially tampons. Jonathan Yaniv’s obsessive interest in periods and feminine hygiene products primarily involves recurring fantasies in which he “bonds” with women and girls via menstruation-related interactions. The two main fantasies, which he discussed with numerous women over the course of several years, were:

1. Asking nude women in changing rooms for a tampon or pad, particularly after observing the string of their tampon between their legs, or
   
   
2. Being asked for tampons by “10-12 year old girls” in transit on BC Ferries, and subsequently showing the pre-teen girl how to use the tampon.

At various times, Yaniv has claimed to have a period, in spite of telling waxers in 2018 that he had male genitalia (menstruation with male genitals is not possible in any known intersex condition or disorder of sexual development). He has used “heavy flow days” as a pretext for discussing period-related fantasies. He collects menstrual products of many brands and absorbencies, and claims to be certain he will be approached for a tampon or pad eventually. When a woman mentions having an experience being asked for menstrual products, Jonathan requests a play-by-play, including location and the age of the girl in question.


At times, Yaniv appears to clearly be using lines of questioning about menstruation to determine the best angle of approach for discussing menstruation with pre-teen girls. In one exchange, he asks first whether it would be “weird to approach a 10-12 year old girl to ask for a tampon or pad,” and when told it would indeed be weird, switches tactics and asks, “What if however I get asked for one cause she started her first period?”

This is posted as a response to this thread over on the main GenderCritical subreddit, where extremely large amounts of anti-trans feminists fawn over the white genocide conspiracy theorist (source) anti-feminist and anti-race mixing (source) and potentially-kidding-potentially-not muslim genocide advocate (source) owner of the trolling website, Kiwifarms, for his actions against some online trans person I'm not familiar with. This includes him showing up in the thread and being heavily upvoted, along with a slew of comments about how he's great.

While casual cooperation with questionable groups is already par for the course for some facets of the community, I have to admit, I was shocked to see this level of support for a website that openly mocks the disabled, PoC, and other vulnerable groups as well as trans people. To those who share the sentiment expressed in this thread, could you explain how you feel able to overlook these issues, or why you don't feel they are important? If you don't, would you mind speculating from the perspective of someone active within your community why you feel so many are able to?

Unlike the evangelical thread, I'm not posting this as a sort of a bad opinion honeypot. I'm honestly thrown off. Up until this point, I'd had the loose impression that radfems were still broadly leftist, so now I'm feeling unsure about how to even approach these issues.

Edit: To put this here since people keep mistaking my intent, my point with this topic is not to criticize the "work" this person is doing in this instance in isolation, but rather the lionization and unqualified praise of a white nationalist.

I will not be posting on /r/GC until this blows over because of my disgust and discomfort with this KF shit. I had never heard of KF until recently, on GC. I spoke out against it when someone shared a screenshot of their front page with the nword on it. After commenting that it was disgusting to be sharing kf stuff, I was told I don't care about women. It made me cry. For my mental health i'm gonna have to stay away. I am longing more than ever for a leftist gc space because I am not okay with white supremacists.

RadFem here, don't give a fuck about the wacky behavior of the owner of this site. Just because I post on this site and engage in the 'community' via forum posts doesn't mean I endorse everything everyone says, including Null. Likewise, I don't support all the wacky fucked up shit Mark Zuckerburg or Jack Dorsey, and I certainly don't agree with all their political views either.

This idea that one must automatically fully agree with & endorse every member's ideological beliefs within any community in which one participates is fucking ridiculous. Engagement does not equal agreement or endorsement. I have absolutely zero problem with the concept of freedom of speech and freedom of expression; hence I am comfortable and used to sharing spaces with nutjobs who think the world is flat, Hitler was fake, Elvis is alive, and the holocaust didn't happen. Doesn't mean I have to believe those things, and in fact using my freedom, I can mock their dumbasses for being ridiculous.

I'd much rather exist within a system like this than some curated 'safe space' where my involvement in any discussion is indication of my implicit endorsement of all the ideas of all members. I don't need a black and white world, I can handle nuance, and I'll gladly any day take the annoyance of having to read posts about nazis over the dangerous censorship we currently have everywhere else. This idea that IDEAS THEMSELVES are dangerous and need to be controlled is fucking scary. NO, ideas are not dangerous. Ideologies are. And ideologies happen and are nurtured and grown to extremism in curated environments where dissenting ideas are not allowed.

It boggles my mind that ANYONE who stands against Yaniv could also simultaneously support ideological safe spaces and / or equate engagement with endorsement. Yaniv has been created and continues to thrive BECAUSE of these sorts of dumbass moral equivalences.

For the last time: engagement with a site is not an implicit endorsement of any of the content created by any member, or the content or views of the site's creator. Everyone here has their own moral agency and beliefs. Only thing everyone here agrees on is the freedom to express those beliefs within the stated site guidelines.

If you support any other viewpoint, you're supporting the same system that created and continues to support Yaniv.

If the internet is supposed to be like physical space in any way, then hanging out on Kiwi Farms is the equivalent of hanging out at a rude, "anything goes" comedy club with an open mic and a lot of insult comedy, sharing a few drinks and laughs with a group of regulars and frequent newcomers.

Being in a venue like that doesn't mean you endorse the views of every comedian there. If someone starts making jokes that offend you, you don't have to leave, you could heckle, or you could get onstage and tell your own jokes about whatever offensive shit you believe, or you could just sit stonily silent through the set and wait for the next guy to talk.

Would that venue be worth unpersoning every attendee from? I can't see this kind of thing taking place over attendance of real-world events with the breadth of focal scope seen here. It's only the internet that makes people draw these weird lines in the sand.

Someone experimented with this by tweeting "Jonathan Yaniv him" or something like that but I can't remember who it was so I can't find out if anything happened. Of course most people could probably slip under the radar by not being prominent enough, I know my account did despite being near the top of the #waxmyballs Hot list for a short while. That was before Jonathan re-activated his account.

“Not being prominent enough” sadly means nothing. I have a very small twitter following and I got sent to Twitter jail tweeting about this shithead. Glad to know social media protects predators.
