I recommend against anyone else paying for this information from BC: CSO until there are more developments. They gouge you, and you have a limited session to download the documents before it times out. I'll try to mirror this stuff on a separate site when I can later tonight or tomorrow.

The newest one is an action against Donald Smith. Today Yaniv tried to bring a without notice application for what is in essence a restraining order.

Please clarify what you mean by "newest one". The only one I see from Dec16 is Smith v Yaniv. Please clarify.

It was a ss of a request from the Langley RCMP to provide contact info and a copy of the alleged video of the potato masturbating while communicating with a minor. If this video exists it could be a catalyst to the end of Yaniv.

Personally, I don't believe there is such a video. If there was we would have seen it by now. I hope I am wrong.

Given the subtleties of Canadian law and the large number of things the charges could be, I don't think this will compromise anything. But in any case the information is already out there due to the Twitter post.

I think that the location data is not being publicized because of the clusterfuck at the last hearing. It is the same date the weapons charges were adjourned to.

To be completely fair to the Canadian legal system, given the last shit show, and the presumption of innocence, they should take some effort to protect the accused. This is reasonable.

Also, the legal basis is given as “Canadian Criminal Code”. 1) That’s not how you cite that, 2) You can’t just cite the whole law (imagine saying a law is unconstitutional “because of the Constitution”) and 3) the Criminal Code is rarely helpful for civil cases.

Thanks, Donald filed his on Dec12, Yaniv filed his Dec13, and they were merged with respective limited fee waivers. There's a Riot room for debrief, if you care to indulge. I've just finished reading an article "The Double Life of Ben Levin" ( https://torontolife.com/city/ben-levin-child-pornography-sting/ ) no similarities really (this bloke was an intellectual, well-liked, well respected and had a loving and supportive family) but made for an interesting read, particularly the narcissism, a feeling of invincibility, oh and the death of a parent. Seems he felt that as he hadn't actually physically harmed a child then hey no big deal, yeah.

That kind of excuse is just bullshit. I've been devastated by loss before. I never once thought that seeing photos of naked kids or fantasizing about having sex with them would make me feel better. Not once. As they say, adversity does not build character, it reveals it. And in Levin's and Yaniv's case, it revealed that they are pedos.
