Not here it ain't. that's sadly pretty much par for the course.

If you expect to spend less then $750 a month in rent, you expect to rent an indo-Canadian's illegal basement suite in Surrey.

Any legit housing is $1000 a month or more minimum for a single bedroom or studio apt. fleapit in Greater Vancouver. Most approach $2500/mo for a bare bones condo.

It depends. If it’s a settlement and not paid into court, it’s not attached before he gets it. The rule for attachment is (basically) that the money to be attached must be in the hands of the debtor at the time the order is sought. There are exceptions of course, particularly for wages. There are also some more complicated things that can be done in complicated cases. Not worth it for $6k. But if I were the physiotherapists or their lawyers, I would give a friendly phone call to Jay Cameron so he can get the order and serve it immediately once the money is in the bank.

If it’s actually a damages award paid into court, then the money can be attached relatively easily.

Of course, just because the money isn’t attached doesn’t mean that Yaniv is off the hook. There are routes to go down to force Yaniv to pay. They take a bit more effort, but the costs of enforcement are ultimately paid by the debtor.

Kinda dated, and qualified on utterance, but they dislike Yaniv.


EDIT: In response to the above by @C4605 that might be technically correct, but it's not gonna happen. Not a snowflakes chance in Texas.

I wonder if Yaniv can be dis-invited or otherwise barred from attending? As the event organizer, there must be something he can do to prevent JY or some other problem child from attending, even if it's just blocking him from the online meetup thing and then changing the time/place. Or maybe he can get Yaniv kicked off Meetup altogether?

Good to see he's in the know about JY, though.

These Meetup things are all held at public places, like coffee shops, restaurants, and bars and the like, so "banning" him is not easy to do. They have no say in kicking him off the premesis, really. But they can probably block him from the event listing or group page so he can't register that he's going. Wouldn't stop him from just showing up, though, if he found out about the gathering.

If I was the organiser I'd be announcing a change of venue and asking for anyone wanting new venue details to DM me..
That way I could send everyone to Bombay and Yaniv to Fuego, problem solved..
