Almost every time I hear DSP talk about what they do together one of the highlights seems to be "listens to relaxing music". Now I'm not saying that "relaxing music" is the hallmark of your classic stoner, but listen to him talk about this experience:
Now if that link doesn't go to the timestamp, click over to 35 minutes and 45 seconds in order to hear what I would consider to be one of the most cliche descriptions of a stoner experience possible: "We quickly threw together food and then sat on the couch listening to relaxing music and watching a nature documentary."
This
man pig who has answered the question "what kind of music do you enjoy listening to" with the response "I don't listen to music" (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLhzX_wkvEU&t=181) has seemingly has a newfound passion in life: wonderful, amazing, relaxing music that his very loving and not at all emotionally disconnected wife introduced him to.
In my life people I've talked with who claim to "not listen to music" tend to exhibit behavior very similar to what DSP is describing here. They may find a song they enjoy after hearing it in a supermarket a couple of times or they may use music as background noise while driving to work but it doesn't factor into their life enough that they have a specific band or genre they like.
Additionally, listen a bit into that second vid and you'll hear him list the types of music he used to listen to as "alternative rock, grunge, metal, that kinda stuff". Now I know that DSP is a sad excuse for a man so I'm not saying that he actually had favorite bands or listened to good music. I'm fully assuming that when he was traveling down the road his hoof would just turn the dial to the station that served "the edgiest rock in Connecticut". However, that natural predisposition towards a certain musical genre is generally rather consistent and unless the Discovery Channel has switched a lot of shit up recently I'm pretty damn sure that the fishes aren't going to be frolicking to "Master of Puppets".
