Might be an unpopular opinion, but people should be a bit more careful with their application of the word.
I see the same thing happening on the political right that happened on the political left with the word "Nazi". The liberal use of the word against non-applicable targets will yield the same result, too, the word will (and is already beginning to) lose its power and it will become a groaner before too long. This will allow actual child predators to avoid scrutiny.

I liked the word "groomer" more, because, while it implied pedophilic motives, it was directly referencing the pattern of behaviour that people were taking issue with.

At least one of them synthesised it using carbon tetrachloride as a solvent, which is wild because carbon tetrachloride hasn't widely been sold since the 1980s (carbon tetrachloride fanatics literally have to buy cold war era fire extinguishers to get it) and also because it is ludicrously toxic. The person who was injecting it ended up in a 6 day coma and has permanent organ damage (and couldn't start real HRT for at least a year after due to liver fibrosis).

Then there's obviously Otokonoko Pharma - specifically recommended on Keffal's DIY HRT Wiki, and famous for sending the vials in holographic packages with an anime girl saying "look at my giant girldick". That's a random Brazillian trans woman who makes HRT in the kitchen (and apparently literal bathtub) - repeatedly sold contaminated HRT with visible cat hair in it.

Plus there was Estrolabs which were selling a HRT herbal supplement that turned out to be ashwagandha (which actually boosts your testosterone) and yes, some attempts at extracting HRT from horse urine or literally boiling plastic bags to attempt to extract the xenoestrogens (compounds that mimic the effect of estrogen, but are probably Not Good For You). There's also a big question mark over some of the estradiol powders getting sold on sketchy Chinese sites in little ziplocs, because the pricing does not match their claimed origin. Frankly it's a wild west, although HRT Café does apparently send some stuff off for lab testing, or at least has users that send their own stuff they've ordered off for lab testing and then uploads the outcome... probably not very good for sketching DIY HRT chemists who don't have consistent quality control.
