It is not contested whether or not the ownership of the SatAM belongs to Sega, it is the fact that those characters bleed over to the Archie series were Ken participated and he started putting his grubby hands all over them. (ew) I have no doubt that with the success the Sonic movies, Sega would love to create additional media as new animated series or even reboots of the older SatAM series, specially considering how nostalgia driven is the current pop culture landscape. But Sega simply wants to avoid any association to those older characters precisely because of the Ken lawsuit. Hell, the entire Archie comic continuity was altered with an incredibly contrived "Super Genesis Wave" plot just to get rid of all of Ken's characters and story lines and make the new plot more focused on the games.

It is utterly absurd once you start dissecting some of the details of which characters he ended up walking away with. Sally Acorn belongs to Sega but Ken owns Alicia Acorn (literally Sally's doppelganger mother, because he "created her") :stress: WHAT!?

Even assuming he does own "Alicia Acorn" he can't own the concept of "Sally's Mother." You can't claim copyright to broad ideas, only specific applications.

Look at the stink Ken is raising on Twitter over Knuckles, that for him is enough to claim infringement on his ideas despite the fact there is nothing in common between the movie and his stories except perhaps the words "echidna" and "father".

Ken believes he's a lot more influential than he actually is for Sonic Lore, and also more importantly, wants attention and money for nothing. Him raising this stink over this is probably exactly what Sega would want from a PR standpoint.

I still can't understand why. I'm sure he thought he was going to gain something, but what would he get from these spinoff of a spinoff characters?

He thought he'd be getting fat licensing checks because "they HAVE to keep using my characters"

I found a meme and a simp of his. DA41283C-7C4C-4A44-BB99-9AFC2FCF871C.jpeg809BECEA-0BC8-4D85-AF7B-34732C64CCC3.jpeg

Got some videos.

The upside to that is that we got the Sonic/Mega Man crossover, "Worlds Collide."

On that note, I wonder what caused Archie to lose the Sonic license. While the whole mess with Ken probably paid a part, I personally suspect that Archie could no longer pay the licensing fees to Sega. Take note that the Mega Man comic was cancelled went on hiatus shortly before the Sonic titles and didn't have the same legal baggage.

Archie's legal competency is a liability. There's the lesser known case where another Archie writer, Scott Fulop pulled a similar legal stunt. Archie failed to produce the same agreement that caused them to lose to Penders, and the only thing that saved them was the fact that too much time had passed. They did not learn from their mistakes, and risking IP hell alongside a legally inattentive third party from another country is not ideal or cheap.

So Archie had to pay a licensing fee to use Sonic and Mega Man and decided to go all in on Riverdale so they stopped paying their liabilities visa vie the comics. SEGA withdrew the license and the artists and writers were never paid for the last few months of work

Should someone tell Ken that Obama help fund a genocide in Yemen and the laptop stuff is real since he is living in denial or just send him copies of the laptop from hell hook or that politic writer’s book about the Biden’s or any of Matt taibbi’s writing or biden inc article. To break from that I got another sonic art piece from him. The other art pieces he posted are unrelated to sonic.38571BBF-82A7-44C4-B5D5-FF94889FAFC4.jpeg64F94AD8-26A2-4053-8C6C-901FEE99A0BB.jpegE7ED0734-8774-4944-AD30-91C44C13A067.jpeg

A question for those of you who read the comic: Did you like any of Ken's characters?
I liked the stuff they did with Sonic’s parents. Like his dad being the first ever robotizized Mobian and later on, the ONLY robotized Mobian. Essentially it was done because he was literally dying from massive battle injuries, and turning him back to normal would kill him.

Penders’s characters were only really interesting in their relation to the Sega characters. Completely removed from them, they have nothing.

They were ok until Ian started to “retire” them like as one person wrote killing knuckles dad as a big middle finger to Ken and him writing a story about a female enerjak. God ken’s characters were weird on occasion. I didn’t like when he gave sonic a Birth name to be honest. I almost forgot Ian turned that creep of a skunk into a bad guy that was fun.

I liked his characters only when he wasn’t the one writing about them. I guess it comes down to good concepts with horrible execution.
Edit: For example, Evil Sonic was a fun idea, but he was literally just Sonic, but evil until Ian turned him into Scourge

Of course ken like xenophobic conspiracy theorist Rachel Maddow Good god. Also it’s Soviet not Russian Ken learn your history.6020EF93-13FA-44E6-BB50-E7C8B04BA070.jpeg

You'd think this weirdo would actually be happy that (he thinks) people still reference and remember his gay echidna wank and that he may have left an impact on this franchise, but instead he's so bitterly possessive and greedy that he would rather be hated than remembered.

Any similarities the film's elements have to his creations are purely superficial yet he still thinks they're totally stealing his ideas and that he somehow has ownership over the concept of the red echidna boy he didn't create having family. And to further the irony, he still uses Knuckles and Sega's version of echidnas in his new work but under vague names despite it obviously being Knuckles and echidnas, characters he technically should have no right to use according to his own logic.

The only time you could make a case for the games ever taking any influence from his ideas was for Bioware's Sonic Chronicles shit, but even then it was distinct enough that it could only be considered an homage to his work that was more focused on what Sega introduced (while also being significantly less obnoxious than the shit he introduced), but instead of being honored the faggot decides to throw a hissy fit and has the whole thing shut down with Sega and Bioware barely putting up a fight while he just smugly gloated over achieving nothing and gaining nothing other than shutting down a project.

I honestly hope he does go after Paramount, a movie studio that wouldn't hold back against him in court just so he gets a taste of what happens when you're no longer fucking around with the incompetent management of Archie and SoA.

Archie Comics are ran by incredible assholes. I'll never forgive them for what they did to Dan DeCarlo after he slaved away for them for 50 years and almost single handedly made the owners into millionaires while he got none of the financial windfall from it despite working himself to death for their sole benefit. He was involved in another IP rights case over the Josie and the Pussycats franchise, Josie being based on his wife Josie, but this time DeCarlo lost just beause of the statute of limitations. Overall, I love that Penders stuck it to those jerks and embarassed them even if it makes Sonic autists seethe.

That's the point of view I don't get from the Sonic fantards. Save for the artists and others they use as slave labor, Archie Comics is fucking awful people, they are not the good guys in this or any universe. Fuck, if you want to know how rotten they were, look into how involved the owner was in the Comics Code Authority and running competitors like EC Comics out of business. He even was the one schreeching over the Spiderman comic about why drugs are bad, which probably helped dumb down comic books for decades longer than had to be the case. While being the premier girls' comic company due to DeCarlo, they also did a lot of shitty things.

If Ken learned his history, he would know that Finland and Nazi Germany were co-beligerents in the Continuation War, which Finland LOST.
Once again he does not know one signal thing about history at all. That Holocaust poem was a dead give away. He is just a cunt.

I feel sorry for the poor bastard at Paramount who probably had to clear the film for copyright issues and write a Memo about Penders' shitty characters. They probably had to read all of his shitty comics. Or at least read shitty wiki summaries.
once upon a time at a con it was the early 10s, and the panel was about movies based on comics
one of the panelists explained how a buddy of his had the endless hell of being the designated rep for DC on board for development of Catwoman, and basically his entire job was "compose long detailed explanations of how things were wrong, then everybody else didn't give a shit. see you next week"
that was probably about as bad as having to tard wrangle the entire internet to make sure the movies were clear of anything

I--frankly--think that many of Ken's stories from the 60s onward aged like year-old milk, especially the "Green Knuckles" arc that lasted for almost three years. Granted, this was after the cancellation of the main Knuckles title and Archie regulated the character to a backup feature. It still felt incredibly drawn out and even imposed on the main Sonic title. I can only wonder if Ken punched a hole through a wall in tard rage when Karl Bollers effectively destroyed Echidnopolis and basically genocided its population post-"Tossed in Space".

Ian Flynn made Locke's death interest by having the character sacrifice his life to free Knuckles from the hex that turned him into Enerjak. As for Geoffrey St. John, his betrayal was made interesting by that fact that Geoff was willing to leave Nagus out to dry because he was happily married to Hershey the Cat. He only returned to Nagus' service when she was presumed killed on a mission to Cat Country.
