🎨 Artcow Ken Penders - Former Archie Sonic Comic Writer/Artist

Howdy, fellas. Y'all might be interested to know, some folks recently got curious and decided to get their hands on the records of Penders case with Archie, and some of the information is rather.. interesting.

Particularly how it shows Archie not only provided signed documents regarding his work for hire status, but also records of emails between Ken himself and the at the time editor over the comics, where KEN asks for copies of his wfh papers. So, he asked for copies of documents that he claims never existed, and claims Archie later forged, even tho the court records show that the signature was in fact genuine.

I'll post a link as soon as it's shared publicly, but enjoy these snippets for now~

But for late 90s I still think his humans are passible, but lacking in any appeal. He has relasped. Drawing is not like riding a bike.
I still don't get how it deteriorated to this point. Is it just autistic degeneration? My original theory was it's just he's natively bad but can be rehabilitated into at least half-decent under supervision, but his current work is like he unlearned everything he ever learned and instead learned whatever bad habits give us the creepy, ugly looking stuff he does now.

When i was struggling through some learning curvee I started trying out daz3d and poser mostly to the detriement to my progress. Learning to work digitally you can pick up some really weird and really bad habits, and if you do t have the foundations to fall back on it gets even worse.

I don't know if he uses 3d models, but he did have several made.

You CAN EFFECTIVELY utilize 3d models but without the fundamentals and knowledge how to pose them properly and adjust visually you're going to end up in uncanny valley very easily especially if you just trace them.

Better to use them as references but building your own mental library. He's gotten lazy, old, hes deteriorated.

I haven't caught up on the whole thread yet so this might've already been posted, but don't forget about when he did a PAID commission for a picture of Shadow the Hedgehog, and he just copied art from Sonic Chronicles, the game he filed a lawsuit over for supposedly plagiarizing his ideas.

Ok, so this is a bombshell!

If this stuff was available during the lawsuit, how the fuck did Archie/Sega lose?

Got access to the court records. It's perfectly legal to request access to most court cases. I have a link to the entire thing, but I don't want to share it around until after some other folks go thru the entire thing. Someone is working on a fairly detailed synopsis of the whole thing to make it easier for the average non-Penders IQ level person to comprehend it.

Post both of them since there might be some legal scholars or law enthusiasts who might want to understand it. You are doing good work since what you posted is better court journalism than anyone i can think of.

I'm not the one that requested access to the documents so I'm not going to be the one that publicly shares the entire thing until the person who DID get the link says ok. It's not like the court records are going to suddenly change or anything, I doubt Ken has that much power. I'm not really doing anything but sharing stuff other people are digging up.

thanks for clearing it up and ken probably has little power but not that much in the long term of things getting realeased.

Imagine you're being sued by a hobo for possession of an empty soda can in your car. You can prove that you are the lawful owner of that soda can. You have the receipts. You can interview the cashier who sold it to you. You can prove that you typically bought a similar can of soda every week at the same location for years. All of this proof is available to you, but you still need to hire a law firm to prove this in court, and it will cost you around $500 an hour for hundreds, if not thousands of hours.

The soda can is worth exactly $0.00 to you, because to you it is garbage. You will never use it again, now that it has been emptied of it's carbonated elixir. You will throw the can away in the garbage later.

The can is worth $0.05 to the hobo. Do you defend the lawsuit, or do you give the Hobo the can?

My theory is that earlier in his career he put effort in his work because he had strict editors at Marvel, DC, etc, that would put pressure on him to deliver and kept him on a short leash, in other words, he was 'tard wrangled into shape. Later at Archie, the standards were far more lax and his tendency towards laziness and being a thieving dirt bag just took over. It doesn't help that he seems like the type that does not like criticism. He never learned how to draw the "Sonic style" because he ignored anyone saying his Sonic art was nightmare fuel.

When i was struggling through some learning curvee I started trying out daz3d and poser mostly to the detriement to my progress. Learning to work digitally you can pick up some really weird and really bad habits, and if you do t have the foundations to fall back on it gets even worse.

It is very unlikely he uses any 3D models, his digital coloring show he has a superficial understanding of how to use digital tech, let alone using a program to model anything in 3D. It is clear that indeed his fundamentals are lacking. I think it is his lack of discipline and practice and not so much his age what has deteriorated his skills but going a bit further, him being such a fat ass cannot be good for his overall health. Some studies show that people who are as overweight as him can suffer from worsening memory and higher risk of dementia, so there is that.

Ken is a massive hypocrite and utterly shameless. Any other artist who had pulled that stunt would have quit social media out of embarrassment, but not him, that's is "just referencing you see".

You would think that needing to make your comic appeal to customers would be enough pressure to keep your skills sharp, but yes, there's some correlation between insulin resistance in neurons causing memory problems.
