more like too useless; welding is a very well-paid skilled job that needs concentration, steady hands and attention to detail, not to mention acceptance of the risk of potentially being burned, electrocuted, blinded, poisoned (by ozone or NOx generated by the electric arc) or suffocated on the job, or the increased chance of cancer if you're a TIG welder who continuously handles lots of (mildly radioactive) thoriated electrodes day in day out, for many years at a time

your man here is yet another example of someone who got a university education because they couldn't or wouldn't get a proper job

that cat deserves a better life for sure
cancer risk for real??

i was once a tour guide in my college days for few Americans , there was this dude 32 years old welder who told me he even had a bmw

Skilled certified welders make substantially more than most college professors or PHd’s.

The thing that makes those idiotic comments that seem to be boob shaming a comic character even worse is this clown is supposedly an informed “comics journalist”. There is a well defined reason that both his and her outfits are the way that they are. And it’s not some obscure bit of nerd porn argued by tribes of sexless geeks in dark corners of the interwebz. The explanation comes from one of the most defining and important moments of comic history. 1956’s DC comics Showcase #4. (Warning nerd rant ahead!)

Once again this is not some random bit of nerd frippery such as who would win in a fight between Batman and Superman. Showcase #4 is a historical and pop culture milestone. It marks the beginning of what came to be known as the Silver Age of comics. It is one of the huge milestone comics alongside Action Comics #1 and Amazing Fantasy #15. A big part of that was it was the change from classic comics where heroes had powers “just because”. To a more thought out “scientific” basis for the stories. It was the bost war era of scientific discovery and advancement. The dawn of the Space Age. Super powers and weird things now required some thought and explanation to be believable. “How could a man break the sound barrier without shattering his body?” Showcase #4 was the first “reboot” or “retcon” in comics. They took the concept of The Flash from the 30’s and remade it as a scientific character that followed in universe rules to explain how he worked. It was the first time this had really been done. The character Was Barry Allen. The new Flash. And chief among those rules for how he worked was when running his skin was surrounded by a protective frictionless force bubble that allowed him to run at the speeds and not die. Only things snuggly right up against his skin shared this protection. Thus he had to wear the ultra tight spandex.

And yeah I know it seems trivial, but here’s the thing. This concept. This attempt to think through and engineer how a heroes powers could actually work, “with science!” Is the precise dividing moment between the Golden Age of comics and the new Silver Age. All modern comics ultimately come from this moment. From this attempt to think through and explain how things would have to work. Now most comic fans likely would not know this. At best they might know that Showcase #4 marks the start of the Silver Age and introduces Barry Allen as the Flash. But Kieran is a professional (hah!) comic journalist. You would think knowing just a bit of the history of the medium he is covering might possibly be a useful job skill? Maybe putting that history into context? Or at least recognizing and referencing it? Ah who am I kidding. On the list of this clowns sins this one is trivial, but still irritating for its ignorance and incompetence in his own supposed area of expertise.

An innocuous comment by a comic book creator on twitter wondering why the comic book press don't cover his book leads to complaints about white entitlement and ends with Shitstach blaming Marvel for blacklisting him for bravely calling them out for not being inclusive as the reason why his comics website failed.

The original tweet:

Lots of fans of the comic and others chip in and Maclean and calmly and politely interacts with them.

This lady is not happy with it though

She used to occasionally write for Comics Alliance and I believe was also responsible for stirring up some outrage before related to Comicsgate but I can't find it. She decided to call out this guy because white fragility amirite?

Another Comics Alliance guy clap emoji retweets it and starts whining about how he doesn't get paid what he thinks he deserves for his half assed musings on funny books and that the closure of the site (Comics Alliance) is literally raping queer people or something.

Also it's totally Marvel's fault that the Comics Alliance site failed by racistly not throwing money and free stuff at them so they succeeded:

“It’s so unfair! Marvel Blacklisted us and forced us out of business! They had no right to stop talking to us or giving us free stuff! We. Were completely in the right to call them racist sexist transphobic homophobic trump loving Nazi’s! Repeatedly!... oh by the way... I need another Sandwich. I’m really hungry... nobodies feeding me anymore not even Mom. She stopped after I called her a racist sexist privileged tool of the patriarchy with internalized misogyny. “

Many Indians have responded by saying they didn’t find Apu offensive and rather thought he was a good character and not a negative stereotype.

But the garbage that passes for journalism these days only cares about what some idiot on twitter finds offensive. If we had objective journalism, you’d hear both stories.
As long as just the possibility of 1 Indian getting offended exists, it won't matter how many hundreds/thousands say it's not a big deal.

He’s a “digital media EXECUTIVE” uh huh. I don’t think that word means what you think it means? Or to put it another way “dear Kieran, given your oh so impressive work history and online personality disorders, any company that would willfully hire you as a “digital media executive” is in some way a horrific criminal enterprise looking for a Patsy.”

Still crying about Gypsy (From Flash Tv Show):

He's the guy who wrote the Luke Cage comic during the hype of the Netflix series and failed (miserably). He then started blaming comic buyers for being racist for not buying the book, when his series got canceled for low sales.

Unfortunately he goes into DFE mode often, so I've missed a few great tweets that I would have added here.

This was said by the Devil:

Curse of Brimstone is basically a Ghost Rider rip-off. Here the Devil basically says, the town the MC grew up in has to be burned to ash to accommodate the demons that will be taking over:

Again Gypsy is not a fucking slur, he read that on wikipedia *sigh*

Nobody in the "travelling community" is offended by the term "Gypsy" being used in comics and related media; a) because that is literally what the Roma call themselves in English and b) on the whole they do not know how to read and write.

I sincerely hope that this fly-by-night vape company that he works for goes under leaving him unpaid simply so I can report him to the DSS for benefit fraud for having a patreon when he goes back on the bennies.
