Josh's old computer would normally output 15fps, which then got frame duplicated up to 30fps simply for compatibility reasons I guess. So the frames would look like AABBCCDD, effectively still being 15fps. If his computer was feeling up to the challenge it would output a true 30fps (ABCD) but that was rare.
Currently on his new computer his frame rate is set to a true 24fps which it seems to be managing fine. 24fps is standard for motion pictures.

Prety much every Intel iMac looked like that, but his is a 2013 imac the desktop background is that from OSX Maverics https://support.apple.com/kb/sp687?locale=en_GB so his mac is pushing 8 years old if it was new in the box still it might be good but it's already on the edge of OS support from Apple I think it goes legacy middle of next year. I'm new to Cobes but from my understanding Clint has or had a photography studio and did lessons and the imacs are left overs or old ones from that period, so they are a mix of old stock and family hand me downs, Mac's tend to have really long life spans more than windows machines of the same vintage anyway.

Some updates you don't have a say on, they will patch them regardless but they are critical bug fix or serious security ones, when you power on a old mac or do a rebuild during the setup phase it ask's you to install updates including OS version, but the update process isn't as jaring as going from XP - 7 - 10 etc on windows, the UI remains consistent.

I think Clint understands that the videos are a net positive for Cobes. It's a source of income and what else would he do with his 24/7 free time? The only thing that could potentially make Cobes lose his dad's support is sinking deeper into alcoholism, which is likely.
