People have a very shortsighted view of things. Yeah they poked and prodded and harassed him enough to get a funny reaction. Great. But there’s consequences to it that rob us of even more funnier moments over the long term.

Notable examples:

1. Getting his t-shirt shops shut down. Joshs t-shirts were always absolutely absurd and hilarious. It was one of the few things he did that made me laugh until I had tears in my eyes. We almost lost all of that forever because of people mass reporting it.

2. Getting him banned from frosty’s. Yeah it led to the admittedly hilarious “leave me alone I’m autistic” moment but now we will never have any frosty’s moments ever again. Is one funny moment worth trading in countless potential others indefinitely?

3. Egging him and warlord on to fight in that discord call. Now their friendship is over and we’re robbed of any and all future warlord and cobra moments. Great, hope that was worth it.

4. Putting in prank orders from delivery places. If his address gets banned then it’s bye bye to absurd “food hacks” and “challenges”

And you just know there are people flagging all his videos to get his channel taken down or for him to get banned off Facebook. Even then posting harassment and all this nonsense on his fb when he’s publically interacting with others is just going to get him to shut down, he already completely stopped accepting new friends.

What’s the angle here? We get a brief laugh that they taunted him about jerking off to a woman’s daughter on her public fb? Hilarious. Now he’ll probably be way more hesitant to post or interact on other peoples stuff. You might think “oh he’s too dumb he’s not going to stop posting on fb he’s not self aware enough.” You might be right. But if he ever grows a second brain cell and completely deletes his fb then all of that shit is gone, and all future Facebook hilarity is gone just for a one off joke.

I dunno. The meddling sometimes leads to a laugh but it’s always in the short term instant gratification sense and it risks taking significantly more moments and laughs from us and just doesn’t seem worth it.

I think it’s the types of people that watch him.

You have the people, like you and me, who watch to see the stupid shit he does. We laugh at his fucked up wands, the crazy awkward social shit he does, and are more than content to let him run the show — he’s been more than entertaining on his own. Some people send him packages to maybe prod him on but it’s generally just to get a laugh.

I think the ones who poison the well are the assholes. They want to see him rage, they want his life to get worse, they take joy out of his suffering. They are the people mocking him for crying and SWAT him hoping for the worst. These assholes are why packages are screened before opening, why he is wary interacting with anyone, and why his streams have degenerated into rants about trolls and fake laughter as he reads shitty comments.

Tapping the glass is a topic in any lolcow thread. I believe it can lead to some great content. The cockholster, Trump letter, etc. The problem is when the crowd gets too large.

A few people tapping the glass trying to get the monkey to dance has now become a crowd of people pounding their fist on the glass. They don't want a dance, they want rage. Then some assholes throws a beer can, another dumbass climbs into the cage.

For these people, I imagine is has less to do with the lolcow's behavior and more to do with being seen by the crowd themselves. It's probably why Cobe's inner sanctum is even more bizarre than he is.

I agree with your entire post except a couple of points. And forgive me if I'm doing TMI or showing power levels or shit here but everything has been going down hill ever since the reddit was created and those first ever discords showed up. Bitesize personifies this era and this entire philosophy IMO.

In that first year of the reddit starting there was the first discord, a lot of the 'discord sessions' album was recorded around that time, and a lot of new people started to make themselves known. I think this was around the time that oprah basically did what I felt was unforgiveable and took the side of the new weens. I think he did it to try and ensure that he was up to date with everything they were doing, but once he'd first joined one of those super early discord 'break offs' with Dana and Bitesize etc. he was lost to me, which is sad given the dude kind of prided himself on being independent of a lot of the 'trolls'.

Then the internetcollective started and while Kevinbuttchin did some good art that entire period of time was just terrible. Cameron AKA Snails AKA 'The reel King Kobra', basically a rich canadian dude trying to springboard off of Cobes to no avail it all just became this weird mash of people trying to impact Cobes life and do 'schemes'. Then vapor buys him the sex doll and he goes viral multiple times, and it just keeps tumbling down.

You are totally correct on the short quick buck shit too. Look at the differences between trappped's original doc and Bitesize, sorry, "MountainWizards" doc. One is a slice of life that follows him around and observes what he would pretty much be doing on any other day. The second enforces its will upon Josh and basically treats him like a child, even the talking parts feel horrible and even scripted at the start. RepublicanAtheist is an asshole (release the clint tapes dude) but I think he was right to avoid that second doc.

So yeah, I agree with you, those of us pathetic enough to have been following Josh for 10+ years now, the best lulz were had in the way Josh was in just himself. I am aware those days are never coming back with how popular Josh has become, but still the new him isn't the reason I ever became a fan of his to begin with.

Boglim Backup is the biggest douchebag I've run into lately. Thankfully he's retreated to Discord with his "internet fwiends" so no one has to see the embarrassment that were his live streams and chat. Anytime anyone says anything slightly negative about Backup or the group he hangs with he goes into an autistic fit, screaming about how they are a tight knit group of friends and they don't need new people and they don't care blah blah blah. He billed himself as a Cobes streamer for when there was no chat then got mad if everyone there didn't specifically praise him. Regarded to the fullest.

I don’t think so. I remember he got trashed on Reddit and people stopped watching. As far as I can tell they’re just some faggots and libtards who think they’re better than others because they became friends but I don’t think they’re active on the sub or even restreaming anymore.
