I've also noticed that he avoids eating his food when it's hot. He always let's it cool down, possibly to room temp. I'm not sure about his drink combos, but I'd like to assume they are also room temp.

I would guess hot or cold would be agony to him, and if they're not because his nerves died, he got in the habit when they still hurt.

Is there something else cobes uses that would cause the dry mouth?

Alcohol does that too, and I'd assume he goes into a coma-like stupor when he sleeps, and he'd probably sleep with his mouth open.

I once had a room mate who had one, it was misplaced by someone at a party, or the tank was left open or something. It was nowhere to be found and assumed dead, after a few days went by. The roommate ended up finding it hibernating under his bed a month or two later, it was still alive and was able to be nursed back to health.
