People externalize thoughts when we want to work out problems. Thoughts are conceptual but words are tangible, real things we can grapple with very effectively in terms of forming further ideas and working out problems, so we will write in diaries or say stupid things out loud when we’re angry or write on Kiwi Farms. It’s actually really healthy that Josh externalizes whatever horrific thoughts he has with a consistency of negative enforcement.
