Kiwi Dominions 6 Community - TW:WH3 but for actual autists

I also had shit luck with meaner indys, had to wait a turn. Not the end fo the world though. With mapnuke at least we aren't stuck with 3 provs or a 2 and a throne curbing you off the bat. I don't like the way it looks but it's got much better/more fair map gen.

Man, I'm used to sub-10k population provinces in EA. This is very new to me.

If you are new to Dom6 they changed the way population works. I tried combing through some chats about it I but I couldn't find the exact stats, the general consensus though is that growth isn't needed like it once was in Dom5, and Growth maxxing is reserved for nats with high upkeeps like giant units or for terraforming purposes like with Ashpodel, otherwise the immediate benifits of prod or ord are just better. If I recall the blood hunting numbers also went up so if you go searching for adrenachrome you're going to have to look in like 10k or 8k areas minimum to get decent returns. I forget that number as well, I don't play blood much but it got bumped up a little.

You can maybe find the more exact information on the steam forums, illwinters documentation/changelogs (lol, lmao), or elsewhere.

Loggy (man already did the hard work of reverse engineering the morale system from Dom 5, and it's retarded as you think it is) probably already datamined this shit somewhere, or in the process of doing so, so hopefully the info is out there. Aside from that, game still plays largely the same as 5, just with slightly shifted meta in favour of powerful, elite troops now for a longer period of the game.

I'm putting down this roll call just to keep easier track of who is who:
Sauromatia - @Mister Uno
Yomi -
Marverni - @GreenJacket
Caelum -
Tir na n'Og - @Kane Lives
Niefelheim - @R00k
Rus - @LowlyPheasent
Agartha -
Pyrene - @Ensi
Mictlan - @Agent of Z.O.G.
Mekone -

Some of the players I haven't been able to identify yet.
The players you don't know are friends of mine who wanted to join in. Two of them are vets and the other two are newer, so it's a nice balance.
Meanwhile in my other server, filthy peasants attack my priest while he is examining two young girls living there. Thankfully his imp homie saved his bloody ass. Honestly with the blood hunt changes the imp familiar is actually pretty useful. 5 slaves for a slighty better research and a body guard that does well against commoners makes blood hunting a bit easier. But you still have to deal with being horror marked, to which is common in this run due to finding a site that makes every unit in the game get a slight chance of being marked.

There's more players then I think there are guys in the thread, I think we have some lurkers joining in, which is fine by me. The more the merrier, just sucks if there's a conflict in nats people want.

Edit: Nvm, missed Unos post somehow.

Just make sure it doesn't have any pure white on it. For whatever reason the devs in their infinite wisdom opted to use exactly white for flag placement for provinces in the map editor. Also for as far as the terraforming is concerned either just put a color filter over a layer for the different versions of a province or add some type of map icon on it denoting "Forest" "Ocean" etc. etc.

Making the maps isn't super difficult, just tedious and retarded.

Looks like it's already year 1 in the EA game. I hope everyone is doing well. (There's still quite a bit of empty space I see around.)

I got off to a slow start but I'm rolling now at least. Nature of the beast though with this game. Sometimes you're surrounded by bone tribes and cav off the bat.

2 growth and 2 nature gems you say?

First throne btw

My primary complaints with 6 are:

Retarded UI Changes - A lot of newer guys don't know there's hot keys, and for some reason ui like "save" and "load" for pretenders was removed when it was present in 5. You can however always press "?" to bring up a menu of hotkeys on the page. Those save and load features still exist but you need the hotkeys (ctrl-l and ctrl-s) now. That and making the general ui shittier (somehow).

Multiplayer Lobbies - Lacks a lot of the features of counterparts. While good they finally started adding them, Blitzserver is still better, though supposedly Blitzmin is helping them make it and improve it.

Music - Really just a nitpick but it lacks the soul of 4. You can always just play Dom4's OST (which I do) but it's also an understandable corner to cut if you put the money and time into gameplay and new features like they do.

That being said I fucking love it and all the shit they added.

I agree fully. I wish I could revert back to Dom5's UI since it was much more user friendly IMO. Illwinter really need to hire someone or sitdown and think on it. Even in Dom5 it wasn't great but still better then what we have now. I also don't think the game should be 45$ but I got my moneys worth already.

Also modding for this game is weird. We need an easier way to make maps because it's so convoluted. Paint the map using specific colors at a specific size, do the art for it (why can't we use default assets?!), then you actually bring it up in the map editor and have to tweak it which could take awhile. Also the sound format is something I've never seen before and have specific requirements to work. I tried to get the Johnny Test whip sound effect for manikins when they attack, but the requirements make it come out sounding completely different.

Yeah, map making is a nightmare. As stated before, you can't use white in map art because that's what dictates a province flag. There's also the fact that it has to be within a file size limit, while this isn't an issue for normal games, grand games where every nat has a player, or one age cluster fucks can be a pain in the ass to get within the file size limit and now with the new terraforming spells every tile on a map has a version of it that's Forest, Wastes, Ocean, Farmland, etc.

They should work with someone to design a better map maker or hopefully someone with a 3rd party tool can do better. There's MapNuke (which I used for this game) which is alright. There's basic editting in it if you really want but you don't get to draw up borders so the puzzle pieces you have are what you get. Nuke has done a good job of making a map generator with better balanced maps though as vanilla can literally leave you with 2 or 3 provinces or thrones spawning on your ass curbing your expansion both early and in the long run.

If you want a bootleg way to do things if you aren't as artistically inclined (I certainly am not on the digital art front) you can use a map editor for like an age of empires/age of mythology game, zoom out and snap shot it/stitch that shit together and the go over the screenshot with gimp or paint to place province markers and shit. I'd do this myself but I'm simply to fucking busy to play cartographer.

Aditionally if you have modded nations sometimes you have to go in through text file scripts and set them at their intended starting location, this is also annoying as shit.

So far I like 6 a lot better than 5. This new bless system is fantastic.

Also better soundtrack.

You already got your last attempt at starting an argument moved. Stop trying to do it again.
Isn't it great how they charge $45 for a few small number patches?

Those 5 new unit sprites totally warrant this purchase!

We aren't allowed to criticize bad practices here on KF, so CONSOOM fellow CONSOOMERS! Throw your money!

Ignore him. He is being a fag on purpose.

Been utilizing spells like frighten, which is a death 1 spell that gives -5 to morale, and man I really underestimated these types of spells for awhile. Especially against indies, who the weaker ones usually have around 9 to 12 morale, it's incredibly good. Just a heads up for the newer guys that if you have an enemy units with lower morale stats.
Of course there are more powerful versions of frighten like terror, and glamour also have spells that generate fear. I think the glamour version can be negated with MR (magic resist) while death can't, but correct me if I am wrong.

Thoughts on this pretender for MA Pyrene?

Weightlessness is a flexible bless, but makes it where my sheep mounts can last longer in battles (they have encumbrance of 7, this reduces it to 4 or 3. -1 from Blood Surge reduces this to 3/2 ). Could replace it according to who I am playing against. Having MR and Enchanted Blood brings their MR to 12 which is solid, but not great by anymeans (10 is average). Obviously with Blood Surge and Enchanted Blood, they will be nasty little sacreds. Plus the regen from the latter increases their survivability by a significant amount, especially the mounts. Spell paths give me access to some REALLY nasty spells like Wrath of God, Stellar Strike and easier access to Winds of Arcane Drought. Also want to play around with crossbreeding despite it not being very good. Named him KingCobraJFS and NAL, but who exactly who?
