Heyyyy runners
Was gnarly sick for two weeks, and then lazy for one more. Finally got back into the run tonight. Had a nice evening run with my dogs. And fall is actually showing up here in south Texas; it's slightly less hot and humid, which is nice. Going to miss that late sunset time though. Hope you're all enjoying the run out there.
This month has been a complete fucking write-off for a variety of reasons. Start again tomorrow I guess!

After a couple weeks off due to moving and other time consuming shit, I went to the gym a couple days ago and had a nice 7 mile run. My legs are still aching. Going back tomorrow to make that treadmill my bitch again.

Update: I FUCKING KICKED THAT TREADMILL’S ASS AND DID 8 MILES!

It was rainy as hell in Paris these past weeks, but as a French saying goes, "we're not made out of sugar".

I had a 10k race to support cancer research this Sunday morning during a storm. I finished in one hour, far from my PR (which incidentally, happened at last week's Paris 10k), but I ran and talked with friends that hadn't cancelled due to the bad weather - and thank God they were there because my sister had accidentally taken my headphones the night prior, and I can't imagine running without either them or people to chat with.
All in all, I'm glad I found the motivation to get up and out in the mud, wind, and rain, even though my cold got substantially worse after it.

I've also signed up for my first marathon in April, so if anyone's got any tips or experience, I'll gladly listen!

Great job, and good for you for powering through the dank weather. Just he sure to take good care of yourself and heal up!

Happy New Year, runners!

Just got out of a stint with the fucking coof. Had my first run of the year yesterday and it SUCKED. My body is trashed lol. But I was so happy to get out and moving again, I didn't care. I'm going to try to ease back into it, running every other day probably, with some yoga and mobility training on the off days.

Here's to a great year of running! 🍻

Had a track run yesterday, went well despite the high winds blowing me around. My body is still trashed of course, and I'm basically starting from training ground zero, which sucks, but I'm genuinely happy to be back out there.

Any of you nerds have any favorite running books?

Feet in the Clouds, by Richard Askwith

Running with the Kenyans, by Adharanand Finn

There's some good short films about running too - look up 'A Mile an Hour' and 'Running the Line' by Beau Miles, or any number of Saloman ones on YouTube.

i feel you, @burntgrilledcheese. i ran the local new year's day 10k, felt a little off for the rest of the day, and haven't been able to run again until today because of the coof. it floored me. myocarditis is a bitch.

i managed a decent hike yesterday, so i thought i would give one of my favorite trail runs a try today. it was a painful affair. i couldn't manage the inclines at all. my heart would race, i could feel my pulse pounding through my carotid arteries, and i became light-headed. walking and deep exhales brought my heartrate back down quickly, but i could only manage to actually run down the few 1k descents on the trail. and i was so damned exhausted afterward! honestly, i still am.

if you like his novels, i suggest haruki murakami's what i talk about when i talk about running. run on, frens!

Another run in the books. I usually run with my dogs, and usually off leash unless I'm in a high traffic area. They're usually good off leash and respond immediately to recall. But today the little assholes woke up and chose chaos, so I leashed them while I ran. They usually do well running on leash too, but not today I guess. Made it difficult to get into the rhythm of the run, having to constantly stop and correct them.

There was a lot more traffic on our route than normal, I'm guessing because of the holiday. Happy Monday y'all.

Got my running speed up to 9mph and can sustain that for 7 miles. But today, I was feeling the threat of a quad injury. I'm going to take tomorrow off, and cross my fingers it doesn't come back.

Main thing that puts me off running is the number of injuries I've had over the years. It's so annoying being out of action for a month.

Got new shoes today! I seem to really like Altras, that was my last pair and my new pair. Altra Torin 5s. Wanted to try on some Hokas but I'm in a small town and the local run shop didn't have them in my size (Peggy Hill status).

I'm getting back into running after a long break and it's been pretty rough starting out. My calves feel like they're gonna melt. Still it feels good getting back into the habit and making progress.

The running track at the park I went to had a bunch of outdoor gym stuff like dip bars and pullup bars. I tried doing pullups but my scrawny ass only got halfway up. So that gives me another goal to work toward.

Welcome back! Take it easy to start with, you'll fall back into the rhythm soon

Are you always pushing yourself on runs? Do you ever do easy runs? It's pretty suspect to get injuries often.

My bodies not built to run, I get my cardio fix by biking. And it's absolutely changed my life for the better in everyway. But it makes the winter utterly deppressing when I cant bike outside.
