Kiwifarms Official Safe-Edgy Hate Thread - You're neither edgy nor funny, so shut your stupid mouth and go drag your tranny ass back to Reddit.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Misogynistic, sexual, and racist jokes are the ultimate safe-edgy because they aren't countercultural nor do they challenge societal norms and deeply-ingrained societal beliefs.
Not saying that I disagree with you entirely, but what would you consider "true edgy" jokes then?

Sitting there having to listen to their regurgitated socially approved dark humor when you chime in with an actual joke and they all fall silent and one says "hey thats not funny dont joke about that"
Thankfully thats only a handful of people I know, the others will joke with me.

You've made me feel old :(
I'm 40 and I know of the meme but I don't feel old.

This is a deeply cathartic thread and I'm shocked one didn't already exist because these fuckers are insufferable and there's a growing hoard of them.

Most of what's been posted so far has been discussing the kinds of kosher, safe edgy material you get regarding ethnicity ("Fr*nch", "WHO in Paris????!") and violence (referencing the Anarchist's Cookbook, pipe-bombs, etc.). Those are the obvious ones but there's this trend I've seen in a lot of modern, safe edgy writing from shows like The Boys, which I want to dub "Safe Gratuity".

The Boys is not at all alone in this but it's the best example I can think of for the phenomenon in modern TV.
Basically the whole show was sold on the premise of being mature, edgy and subversive and going where other capeshit wouldn't, which would usually entail a bunch of CG ultraviolence and referencing current political events. The show is laden with gratuitous violence and imagery of male assholes, dicks, and consistent references to gay sex and fetishism. For perhaps the worst example of this, see the clip below (NSFW).

And in spite of all that bravado about being "mature", the show refrains from ever showing female nudity for more than a few seconds every season. Male nudity is considered, at least by the showrunners, to be the more subversive depiction of sexuality, but this unwillingness to give female sexuality a similar treatment betrays the image they've meticulously crafted of being willing to "tackle any topic". The answer as to why they shy away from female nudity is, of course, that depicting women as sexual is considered sexist or "objectifying", which wouldn't allow the writer to still feel like a heckin' good person while pushing out this slop. Likewise with nudity, men being raped or sexually assaulted has been used for laughs on the show, while playing a woman's rape for comedy would be apocalyptic for any TV show—not even the fearless The Boys would ever broach such an idea.

In the same vain, the show never has the courage to allow any of its characters, including its villains, to use any legitimately offensive language. One of the characters, literally named Storm Front, who is quite literally a 1940's Nazi brought back to the modern day, never says anything spicier than "yellow bastard" or "black bastard". Because to have a character on a major Amazon TV show, even an antagonist, use the word "chink" or "nigger", or for a woman's rape to be played for comedy would be legitimately controversial and upsetting to some sect of the audience.

Many modern writers want to create something considered "punk" or edgy, but they have neither the guts nor the creative freedom to rock the boat. Really, most of them are demented, creatively-bankrupt perverts who will always kowtow to their producers, and when they're given the reigns you get shows like The Boys.

The Boys is the perfect show for the Bugman. It allows him to feel dangerous and like a rebellious punk, but not problematic. The show gives him all the fuel needed wrap his juvenile, base humor in a presentation of aloof irony and a faux sense of daringness; he's able to laugh at poop and cum jokes and still feel like a mature, brave visionary. It's the perfect placebo to let the dog feel free without him ever having to yank the chain.

Now that I looked it up, not familiar with it but I guess another reason could be they sympathize because they just want to fuck the pink haired one? that’s just a hunch

we should probably have a safe horny thread going counterpart to this one.
Nah, the pink hair girl is a monster. In the anime monsters are a species of predators that evolved to perfectly mimic human looks and speech to be able to get close enough to kill humans. Also she's not a succubus just a powerful magic user whose specialty is puppeteering the dead bodies of her victims as cannon fodder.

Don't do better, be best.
Redditors are the best. That’s why they’re still on Reddit.

I’ve never understood why there are so many wieners, so few boobs and barely any pussies in mainstream cinematography. Are those filmmakers into dudes or something?

It was made fun of in the Hazbin Hotel thread that there are no depictions of pedophiles, rapists, racists or homophobes in hell. Instead there are mostly gays and furries, which I personally find amusing.

Not to mention Adam from Hazbin Hotel ends up getting his point proven that most, if not all, of the sinners in the Pride Ring are irredeemable and that we have yet to see of the residents of the hotel (or anyone outside of it) do a crumb of actual redemption efforts and are instead just fulfilling in their sins or, for the characters, barely getting any development at all. No, Charlie, Angel Dust doing some slight goody two shoe things doesn't magically absolve him from the crimes he's done in the mafia when he was alive.

Like, Vivzie, you unironically made Adam the good guy in the first season since the characters did everything he professed to the High Council about.

As someone said in the HH/HB thread, the shows are practically one of the worst depictions of Hell since it does so little of actually making the viewer feel like they're in hell and not in a Hot Topic promo section. Not to mention its safe edginess is laughable beyond redemption. It doesn't know when to be provocative and edgy or sanatized and full of irrelevant morals.

A massive example being the deadly sins being so out of their sin that you just pretend they're celebrities of hell and nothing would change. Ozzie apparently cares about consent and love "being an art" despite being the embodiment of the worst aspects of lust and how much it can affect themselves and others. Beezlebub cares about people feeding themselves to an unhealthy degree as long as they're doing it for the "vibes" and not generally. Not to mention in S2E11, Mastermind, she looked disgusted at Mammon eating sloppily. Why is the embodiment of Gluttony feeling disturbed about something she would probably root Mammon doing or insult him that what he's eating is the bare minimum?

Someone even said somewhere (I think it was in a YouTube comment section, I forgot.) that all the sins being evil would be boring despite them being evil is the whole point of them being given the label, The Seven Deadly Sins. Make them uniquely evil! Then again, we have Stella, where she's the most cartoonishly evil woman in the show, so I'm asking too much.

Though, hey. Vivziepop asked for such a fandom. A group of edgy teenagers/adults who think they're all that but still demands countless trigger warning labels and still lose it if someone or themselves gets called a slur. I thought you guys liked hell and its inhabitants, that Satan was cool? Of course, it's only cool to them if it's sanitized and put under baby straps to be as progressive as possible.

I feel like there’s sorta a no win situation when it comes to edge after re-watching drawn together where it’s so try hard, or even here with the swastika avatars it’s become kinda banal after a while like if it was now ok to say “nigger” in public it would be overused like “fuck“ and “shit”

like growing up punk when we won were we still punk? No, we started stretching the goalpost to the point it got stupid, and now we have 3rd wave feminists morphing into troon rights groups because we threw the whole idea of woman and men out the window essentially making their original point moot.

now you got the same people who were figting for censorship in the 90s and 2000s acting like their the new punk which is equally cringe, as much as I hate it there’s that side of me that hopes they win again so things go back to the way they were in the 90s back when dressing in black and saying “vampires are the good guys” was new and scary. the only ways to be edgy and provocative these days is go the way of that faggot Mr girl And defend shit like cuties, yeah no.
