Klonoa - that one weird rabbit cat thingy is now a quarter of a century old.

After much deliberation, I've decided that the Klonoa fanbase qualifies for exterminatus.

Please line up and you will be awoo'd shortly.
A big agree to this. Especially for this specific turbo-autist (archive) who has been shitting up Google Image search results for literal years with his Super Klonoa fanfiction. Also probably a fetish. I'd say the guy could warrant a thread if only he was a lot more active.

The guy has a metric fuckton of DeviantArt journals going over supposed drama too, though there's hardly any evidence of these things happening and it's a chore to skim through it all.

Yeah, Klonoa seems to attract the worst kind of people unfortunately. Never mind the fact that Klonoa and characters like Huepow and Lolo are children., you also have people making fan art of Klonoa and Guntz who I think is supposed to be an adult. I use use image search engines and inevitably stumble upon something fetishy even with safe search turned on strict.

I shouldn't be surprised though, anything that involves an anthropomorphic animal character is going to be targeted by furries at some point.

I know this thread is dead(like the game series itself) but i just want to say I find it telling how over a year later and there still hasn't been a single patch or update to fix some of the issues and that this truly was just a soulless shitty remake made to get nostalgia bucks and it worked when till this day every review is just some dumb meme shit or telling people to buy it
hope this series stays dead to not tarnish it's legacy further and to spite all the dumbasses who pushed people to buy it

I agree but I'll still shill it regardless.

Well, there is always emulation...

Anyway, I played the first one ages ago and replayed a chunk of it recently, how is 2 compared to 1?

Gameplay, 2's probably better than 1 in most respects. Story, mileage may vary. I love it, but I've also seen people who preferred 1 more.

There was an interesting theory that was proposed by some guy who did a YouTube analysis on Klonoa 2 that the entire game is kind of structured more like Klonoa coming to terms with everything that happened in 1 and I thought the idea was presented in a plausible enough way that it's kind of making me see its story in a new light recently, but you know, that could just be the whole "individual interpretation" thing coming into play.

In terms of gameplay and level design Klonoa 2 is definitely a step up. A solid successor, but I still prefer Klonoa 1, mostly for nostalgic reasons.

2 is really good, better gameplay that's more refined for sure but I personally always found myself replaying the first game more

I liked both 1 and 2. 2 is more fleshed out with its gameplay for sure, though I still have a soft spot for 1.

The most frustrating thing about Klonoa's relative lack of success is that - unlike, for example, Croc - Klonoa was given every possible opportunity to be big. Off the top of my head Klonoa got a sequel, multiple spinoffs, a webcomic (beautifully illustrated, too), they remade the original game (twice!) and they still couldn't get people interested in this series. Croc feels like a series that could have been big if it had only been given a chance; Klonoa was given every possible chance and still failed.

I only bought the remaster because they said "We might make another Klonoa if it sells ;)" (and for the voice samples too).

If they don't bail on us, what I would hope for is either:
  • An all-new Klonoa 3D Platformer (Sonic Adventure-style, switch up the gameplay from Klonoa with Guntz, Shadow the Hedgehog style), and I dont care if it has DENUVO >:(
  • A remake of Klonoa Heroes
However, what is most likely to happen is :
  • The untranslated ROM of Klonoa Heroes on Nintendo Switch Online
  • REM Klonoa Beach Volleyball All-Star EXTREME for the XBOX Series-X and PlayStation 5 (fuck you, Nintendo Switch owners)
If it costs me 80 grand for the formers, I'll sell my kidney,.

I went searching for that old advert for the original game in case it was a fever dream and nope, this is actually how they advertised the original game:

I still don't understand wtf this ad is trying to say.

I highly doubt there will be a new Klonoa game, felt like if they cared they would of been released some patches long ago and also as always with this sort of thing, I doubt any new Klonoa game will be able to capture the magic of the first 2 games as i'm sure the people who worked on the originals are long gone and even then Yooka-Laylee proves even if you have some of the OG devs of something it still doesn't guarantee anything amazing
I'd like to be proven wrong though but i'm not holding out hope and i'd rather see some passionate autist create a spiritual successor of sorts

Furfags that actually have some autistic talent despite their degeneracy have tried for several years AFAIK but their projects always go dead in the water. Probably because of their furry degeneracy catching up to them.
