No, they have said 'they are not a gaming company'. It has nothing to do with cost, lots of internal shit revealed that Konami doesn't believe games are profitable (lol) and has revealed they only want to exploit their existing franchises for plachinko machines. MGS V cost $80 million (which is cheap as fuck for a AAA open world game). The profit, as of 2016, was $210 million on that game. Probably more now. It shipped 6 million units to start, not counting remasters and re-packs which cost nothing to make. Go to their website, go to games. They don't even list MGS survive. They have no other major releases in development for 2018 despite sitting on a goldmine of IPs. MGS Survive is a project purely to spite Kojima, which is hilarious if you think about it.

Konami basically forced out Kojima because they did not want to make games anymore and are spiteful to the level of autistic children. They didn't 'lose' Kojima. They gave him his own division and made life working there a living nightmare so he'd eventually quit. They gave him a project, let him work on it with people he loved, then basically ERASED IT FROM THE WORLD for no other reason than spite. Another company took that hype and sold 10 million units off it with RE 7. This is not a competent, logical company.

It’s probably worth noting that that’s less than the 100 mil that ME: Andromeda got, and Kojima had to develop a new engine.

Well I gave it the benefit of the doubt pre-release and it seems to have been for naught. Well at least I can be glad I had no intention to buy it at release or around release.

Its steam page is back up and all the reviews are listed as pre release reviews now. Reviews are very positive, and not filled with FUCK KONAMI as I was expecting so maybe they just killed those reviews?

MGS V also had notable actors, and very skilled voice actors and it still somehow cost less than ME Andromeda. It's nothing short of a miracle MGS V isn't a buggy mess like Andromeda once you read what Konami did to the staff, all of it cruel and unusual even for Japanese game developers to go through.

Survive is like a bad joke, something Cambell shitposted about in MGS2 even.
