To put this clown in perspective. He’s one of the “useful idiots” in the press that Steele and Fusion GPS was using to publish fake Trump information in the media, back when Kurt was at Newsweek. That’s why the Republicans said “ hell no” regarding being lectured by this asshole. It fully and undeniably came out that Wichenwald isn’t a reporter. He’s a propagandist for hire.

The list of media outfits and journalists made aware of Steele’s investigations is extensive. Reuters reported that it, too, was briefed on the dossier, and while it refrained from reporting on it before the election, its national security reporter Mark Hosenball became an advocate of the dossier’s findings after November 2016.

BBC’s Paul Wood wrote in January 2017 that he was briefed on the dossier a week before the election. Newsweek’s Kurt Eichenwald likely saw Steele’s work around the same time, because he published an article days before the election based on a “Western intelligence” source (i.e., Steele) who cited names and data points that could only come from the DNC- and Clinton-funded opposition research.

“Eichenwald” sounds like a World War II concentration camp.

The SS constructed Eichenwald concentration camp in 1937.

Prisoners from all over Europe and the Soviet Union—Jews, Poles and other Slavs, the mentally ill and physically-disabled from birth defects, religious and political prisoners, Roma and Sinti, Freemasons, Jehovah's Witnesses (then called Bible Students), criminals, homosexuals, and prisoners of war—worked primarily as forced labor in local armaments factories at Eichenwald.

Today the remains of Eichenwald serve as a memorial and permanent exhibition and museum.

It's pretty ridiculous that a "group of Republicans" would ask him to speak at an event, since anything that would make him stand out enough to be invited to an event would also show he's no where near suitable for speaking to a right wing organization. Also, if you're going to burn so many bridges by showing you'll act like a screeching manchild if an event cancels you why not just name and shame the group that canceled you?
