for context this film was directed by Sergei Parajanov, he was an Armenian film director who was very vocally against the USSR and rejected the standard of Socialist Realism in film. he was commissioned by Goskino (I think) to make a film about Sayat Nova who’s poems and songs were just translated into Russian. but because the film was so stylized and abstract it was renamed to Color of Pomegranates because it “failed to produce education and context on Sayat Nova” and was kinda buried by the censors. but the important thing is that Parajanov was accused of homosexual rape of a KGB OFFICER with little evidence and spent the 1970’s in a gulag until he was released in the early ‘80s.

so Kyle decides to make an “””essay””” on it, I’m convinced it was a patreon request or something because he obviously doesn’t care at all about this film or it’s history, and if it was then it’s significantly worse because someone paid to have Kyle whine about his life and shit all over a dead man. he just rambles on for about ten minutes trying to come up with any amount of analysis, but about halfway through he starts calling Parajanov a “creepy rapist” as he shows the very Wikipedia article on screen, either taking the KGB’s officer’s accusations against a very anti-Soviet bisexual man at face value or not even reading the article that he himself edited into his own video. he backpeddled in the comments but still

the second half is literally just him complaining about burn out and “the rise of fascism in the US” and ends with him disregarding the whole film as weird nonsense “made by a rapist”.

Kyle, you could’ve just not uploaded the video. if it was so miserable and all it accomplished was smearing someone who died over thirty years ago and you bitching about your shitty politics, which you do several hours a day on Twitter, then just don’t fucking upload it.

If it was a patreon request, the only person who half-asses them more is the Rap Critic. He took 3 years to do somebody's request and he also does short videos for those requests for the most part.
