TGWTG Kyle Kallgren / Oancitizen / Brows Held High - Afraid of the Eggnog Ninjas, "Male Feminist" that Abuses Women, 2nd-rate Cinema Snob, Hugh Hefner A-Log, Fat Creepy Incel Cuck

Kyle put out an anti-Cinema Sins video in 2022. At this point, people have stopped caring about CinemaSins a long time. Don't really get why he felt the need to do this video except being pissy that CinemaSins is still doing better than him even when their format has become completely stale.
Is he trying to be funny? Ironic? Bitchy? I seriously don't know what his point is in this other than saying, over and over again, Cinema Sins was gay.

I haven't seen a single CinemaSins video, yet I immediately understood from this video that Kyle is one of the most bitter men alive.
By this time in his life he was supposed to be a big auteur penning award winning plays and movies that would win awards all over the world. When in reality he's some prick on the internet trying to show people how clever he really is because he's the only one that truly understands movies and nobody seems to care. That's gotta sting a bit.

And the fact that after all these years he still hasn't broken 100K in subscribers. But things could be worse. He could be Armzgurl or E-Rod.

It still erks me how the guy has knowledge and taste in movies and completely demolishes all of those strong points by being Kyle Kallgren. He truly does fascinate me. Also near the end he rips into RLM again. Why? Cause if you don't take sides in culture wars and internet cat fights, you are guilty by association? What a sad existence.
I'm trying to wrap my head around his whole "RLM damaged the discourse" bullshit. Here's my best guess at understanding it:

Plinkett reviews offered detailed take-downs of the prequels (and other movies but those were the most famous). They acted as inspiration for many different content creators of all political stripes (including gay furry leftist YMS), but the Maulers, ERs and other anti-woke media critics were the most blatant. Therefore, RLM is bad by association.

Nonsense. He doesn't even realize how he himself has been influenced by RLM. He shifted from Nostalgia Critic-esque riffviews to video essays because Lindsay Ellis did, and she was clearly inspired by Plinkett.

Kyle is a remora trying to take down sharks.

This right here! Also RLM are very progressive in their own way. They had a lot of positive things to say about trans inclusion in Ed Wood, and Jay is huge John Waters buff. Of course this doesn't mean anything in today's world and it won't reach Kyle's giant consciousness, because you need to loudly virtue signal every single thing and these guys from Milwaukee aren't about that.

It's because he's a neurotic shut in who's still haunted by Crispin Glover.

Seems a fair conclusion, doesn't sound brainwashed at all. Seriously imagine unironically citing Philosophytroon for your political opinions.

Kyle's soy "yikes" at RLM cracked me up though. Honestly can't wait for his video decrying them as Nazi adjacent. Nigga you come at Rich Evans you best not miss.

Red Letter Media are bad in Kyle’s view because they engage happily with “consumer-friendly” movies. To be clear, I’m not saying they’re tasteless or stupid, just that they’d probably usually choose to watch say, True Lies over any given “queer art-house” film. They also gauge quality in the wrong ways. When Kyle looks at a film, he tends to judge it in how it relates to the surrounding cultural-political context. Or in other words, whether it’s woke enough. The Red Letter guys meanwhile tend to judge films based on say, whether the plot and characters are engaging, the coherency of the story (and if it’s not meant to be coherent, does it succeed at the narrative it’s aiming for) and the logic of its internal world, or their technical proficiency and visual flare. Kyle used to talk about these things too, but such things are frivolous in our post Trump world.

Basically, Red Letter Media tend to approach films as things to be enjoyed, whereas Kyle is like a bad wine taster pretending he can tell the difference between the overpriced vintages he’s sampling.

Remember when Kyle was afraid to dump his fat abusive girlfriend because of the intersectional power stats and even the chez Lindsay crew called him out for being such a pathetic cuck. Good times
Remember when Kyle was legitimately afraid Lordkat was going to send Egg Nog Ninjas to his house?

Basically, RLM are the kind of guys you'd have a beer with and watch a fun movie and Kyle is the type when he suggests a film you yell "Will you Shut the Fuck up you Faggot!".

Part of his... issue with RLM is that they're not "serious" about their movies. It's just a couple guys commenting and occasionally making fun of what goes on. It's the same issue he had with Brad Jones a.k.a The Cinema Snob. Brad is a guy who knows his movies and he likes movies. Kyle felt he wasn't a "real" critic because he went for bad movies and porn. He and Brad never got along. In fact some people think he's the guy behind the "Cinema Snob Sucks" blog.

Kyle takes this very seriously. It's part of the persona he's tried to craft of being a critic of only highbrow movies that other people don't understand. He's all about showing how intellectually better he is for watching and enjoying a movie and examining it's themes than just making jokes at it.

I would think that's why he hates RLM because a lot of people tried to be like RLM.

It's because he's a neurotic shut in who's still haunted by Crispin Glover.
And eggnog ninjas.

Never forget the eggnog ninjas.

Are you sure that's not a new copypasta?

Part 2: Rich Evans and the myth of Midwestern cis blue-collar hetero-normativity

Could probably train an AI to write Kyle's guff if you gave it enough buzzwords.
Didn't they already make one?

*checks*

Awwww. RIP Tumblr argument/rant/SJW blog generator.

It’s also part of his narrative that his Channel Awesome days were like being forced to collaborate with war criminals. He would never have made silly jokes about the excesses of arthouse if mean, dumb Doug wasn’t forcing everyone to be shallow jokesters like him. I’m pretty sure he’s self flagellated about being “sex negative” in Ken Park or “queer phobic“ while reviewing that gay commie zombie film.

Channel Awesome? More like Channel Auschwitz!

Thank you for making me think of this video, as it’s a perfect representation of what Kyle is.

Christ, he's doing Satan's tango. (Yes, I'm an arthouse douchebag, it's one of reasons I contribute to this thread) He'll make this 7 hour masterpiece about: him, us, Jourdain and CA.

This coming from the lazy fuck who padded out his multi hour look at Starship Troopers with his fucking family vlogs? It’s not even funny hypocrisy.

Kyle is late on this one, I remember when it was 4-6 years ago when the hot new thing was to trash Cinema sins.

yeah, Cinema sins sucks, but even the guys who make it say that it isn't supposed to be taken seriously, it is just a joke (but they had to eat some humble pie before that), and now it is just one of those legacy channels that got big in the early 2010 and coast by name recognition.

They are in the same limbo guys like Matpat and Pewdiepie are, they might still get the views to make some good cash, but their relevance is pretty much gone as they get tossed into the old toys box. And even so, Cinema sins is in a worst spot than ost of these channels, since they have lost more than half of the views they had two years ago, won't be long till they are sitting next on the epic meal guy.

But like I said, trashin cinema sins isn't new, here is a video that made the rounds about 4 years ago:

And since cinema sins never changed, I don't think there is any point to keep bitching about this stuff. I mean, really, are we going back to complain about people pretenting to be sacred of horror games in let's plays as well, hell, is "let's play" even a thing anymore?

Oh, and to end on a pathetic note. The video I posted was that guy's most popular one, and just 7 months ago he did another video bashing Cinema sins, can you guess why?

Cinema sins sucks, but them sucking ain't a excuse to be unimaginative boring fucks.

Also, leave the RLM guys alone Kyle, they are good boys.

That's basically it. I binged them 7 years ago and it gave me a giant headache. It's YT fast food, nothing deep.

That also describes Kyle frankly. He basically presents a form of leftist or anti-fascist activism that consists entirely of consuming the right type of media. Now, art is often political—Cannes Film Festival got its start as a less fashy alternative to the Venice Film Festival. But even if you legit think America is about to be consumed by fascism or always has been, surely you have to realise movies will be near the bottom of the priority list for the resistance or whoever? Like, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin didn’t go to the moon to play golf, they just did that for a laugh between the actual work. Of course, Kyle abandoned and deleted his videos on “anti-fascist cinema” (because no one’s ever talked about the politics of The Great Dictator and Casablanca before) because some people were rude in the comments. I’m pretty sure if he was plunged into a fascist takeover, he’d use a Jewish baby as a human shield.
