Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

That's an incredibly 80's/early 90's name. I love it.
Don't play the game (its infamous kusoge) but just look at this boxart!

This Doom mod may look like a joke but it's eventually pretty well-made, and also faithful to the original material. Maybe it could be a better Zelda 1 experience if you prefer theFPS style gameplay.

(PS: my personal 2 cents for anyone who tries the game, make sure you get the boomerang asap. It will make your life easier)

This appeals to me more than Cadence of Hyrule. They should show it to id and try for an official release. (sadly, would be more likely to get them officially shut down, of course.)

Anyone here played skyward sword hd? How are the analog controls? I want to buy it but I only have a switch lite and heard some people think the non motion controls are shit.

It's fucking terrible. Because the controls are mapped to the right thumbstick, you have no camera control other than OOT style 'center behind you'. In addition, forget any quick motions, because the thumbstick isn't smart enough to know the difference between 'quickly go from bottom left to top right' and 'slash from bottom left to top right'. Combine that with SS's already shitty enemy design, and even base ass Blins take about 2-3 minutes to go down, making this already over-padded game somehow even worse.

And that's to say nothing of SS's already god awful everything else.

If you really need to play it, wait for a sale (lol), but honestly, you can get everything you need, save 20-30 hours, and 50 USD, just by watching the cutscenes on Youtube. Though, I'd recommend avoiding that too. SS is the shit stain on the franchise for a reason, and it ain't the bad controls.

This hack makes Zelda 2 so much more enjoyable. It's actually a pretty great game once all the annoying shit's removed.

There's a similar hack for Zelda 1 but I haven't tried it.
There is something even better then that hack now for Zelda 2. Some one completely remade it in Game Engine using a 1:1 translation of the original ASEMBLY code so all the physics and character behaviors are accurate in Widescreen.

Some of the QoL improvements include:
- Saving System: Most towns have an NPC that will save your game
- A dungeon map showing you the rooms you've visited so far
- An overworld map that shows your immediate vicinity in the overworld and the name of the area
- Extra Life Dolls are permanent. When loading a save file or continuing after a game over, your lives are 3 + (number of dolls acquired)
- You retain 25% of your XP when continuing after a game over
- Saving in a town will retain ALL of your XP
- HUD displays an icon of the stat that's next in line to level up
- Background flashing is off by default and instead is solid red. This can be toggled in the options menu
- Continuing a game from a game over starts you at the dungeon's entrance if you died in a dungeon
- Continuing a game from file select starts you at the town you saved at
- The spell chosen for casting shows in the HUD
- Your current MP shows as a number at the top of the spell menu
- Unaffordable spells have different color
- Active spells have a different color, though they can still be cast. (the diff color can be toggled in the options menu)
- Wisemen refill your MP
- Low HP beeping less frequent after 8th beep
- You only have to talk to Riverman once to activate Saria bridge
- Key count shows in HUD
- Faster dialogue speed

Its really, really good. The quests for spells have all been improved, areas/dungeons have expanded in sensible ways, and the added graphics really fit the look and feel off the game. Its like playing the rose tinted 20 year old memory of Zelda 2 today.

That does look pretty cool. I'll have to try it out when I've got some time.

Finished skyward sword, I have to say that I actually like it a lot, pretty much all the dungeons were very enjoyable, the story presentation was fun, the music was fantastic, side missions are fine and
I got used to the non motion controls pretty quickly
It does have a lot of flaws tho, the sky sucks ass, the part when you have to look for the dragons is boring and pointless, etc.
I would say it is a very solid 7

I never played Skyward Sword, something about it always put me off. I didn't like the idea of a prequel start of the timeline style story. Then again, I'm a faggot so what do I know?

OoT was also the game that was supposed to start the timeline back in the day, obviously it left a lot of room for other stuff and it also had its own back story, but so does SS

So I decided to give Immortals: Fenix Rising a try and I'm annoyed with it. It fixes some of the issues I had with BOTW, namely the godawful dialogue and making the combat a little better, but still fails in making the world more interesting. I get the world being lifeless is by design, but shit man I just want some interestingly written quests. You're using Greek mythology there should be more here.

I finished the Aphrodite section and have zero interest in continuing any further.

You may want to give Elden Ring a spin if you have not already.

It has a very interesting world loaded with stuff to find and kill.

I've been wanting to play it but I'm too much of a cheap bastard to buy it for more than $30

You'll get more than 100+ hours with Elden Ring easily if you're the type to explore every nook and cranny. There's always some kind of boss, some kind of treasure, or some kind of new thing looking to get it's ass beat.

I still think back to how I spent quite a few hours in the dungeons scouring the places for all it's treasure. Or just riding in one direction and then accidently encountering a huge Runebear boss or a dragon.

Does it have any actual dungeons?
