Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

Well that makes sense, since TotK is glorified DLC already

The next game will probably be ToTK but with a new map and some new physics gimmick, I highly doubt they will actually change anything fundamental.
Zelda: Drool of the Ocean incoming

So, does anyone have any idea why my TOTK save reverted itself to an earlier state and how I can keep it from happening again? I didn't lose too much but I did lose some shrines and lightroots and had to do the 5th Sage quest over again...and I probably lost some Korok seeds too.

So, can anyone here explain what the deal is with Spirit Tracks? Like, I'm just wondering how fucking trains fit into the Zelda formula outside of being glorified fast travel, and how its Link can be the "Hero of Trains" unless the plot is that Ganon is an automobile manufacturer trying to dismantle the railroads so he can force people to buy cars.

I tried looking up reviews but mostly found lets plays and a lot of "this game is underrated" type videos... and to be frank I think Kiwi answers will be more truthful, more insightful, and probably funnier.

It's wack, Ganon isn't in it but there is a train demon and half train half people. It's probably the leftover weirdness from TP. I never really played it beyond the first dungeon, but it just seems like Phantom Hourglass but more refined, also Zelda is a ghost.

This sounds like its actually a stealth adaptation of Thomas And the Magic Railroad that for some reason just happens to star Link.

Basically it's like how the boat works in Phantom Hourglass, the train is used to get around the map, and he New Hyrule the game takes place in is just more advanced than most other versions. There's a magical train that was the tool of the "spirits of good" that Link uses, so I guess that's why he's the Hero of Trains. It actually is pretty decent, Zelda travels with Link in ghost form, and she actually feels like a character and she gets to bond with Link over time.

Someone on the dev team was tripping balls off some shrooms, the train tracks are literally the chains binding this random ass demon from destroying shit, there's an giant demonic train that serves little purpose in the story, an numerous amount of smaller trains that are perfectly willing to kamikaze you because Link is too retarded to intentionally lose an game of chicken, there's even an random train foamer that'll hitch an ride from you, you can initially hate cows (or some other animal) that was sleeping on the tracks.

Oh, and you're the only sane person who actually has an license to drive an train; naturally, there's an assload of (optional) deliveries that you'll can do.

Everything else is exactly what you'd expect, just don't think about how the only form of transportation is by train, and you'll be fine...Mostly.

At least Zelda is fairly entertaining in that game, though

It'll grow on you. I was pretty put off by a lot of stuff, like the worst Zelda species (train people) and the worst main villain designs, and just the fact that a train is less fun than a boat. But its qualities shine through, I got pretty addicted. It's worth a play.

For a mobile Zelda game on the DS it's so much better than it has any right to be. It's a fun little distraction. I don't have any Major complaints about.

If it took them 6 years to release a game that used the same map and 90% of the same assets then God help us.

It will be a miracle if we see this game before 2028
At least they won't be wasting more time and resources making BoTW DLC's DLC. Count our blessings, I guess... Maybe we'll get a new 2D Zelda before too long, maybe a couple years or so.

How can someone hate that game? It's basically, an scaled down version of WW...Of course, there's the repeated trips to that one dungeon.
I think the perspective of ST's overworld would've been much better for PH too than the zoomed out mini map look it had.

Edit: For some reason my memory blanked out that they both have similar perspectives for traversal, I'm not sure why, I must've just focused on the map screen a lot when I played PH lol

Yeah, TOTK really felt more like a DLC of BOTW than an actual, fully designed sequel; doesn't help that, judging from how past games operated, that a lot of the notable stuff from the past few games like the Sheikah tech, the Champions, the Zonai, etc., is just going to get dropped in favor of new stuff in the future. Some of it is pretty cool, admittedly.
