Rev up your optimistic ratings, I have a personal Hy head-canon.

One detail stood out to me - Hy winked at Kirby after Kirby verified that Pocket_Sand had gone home. That made no sense to me. Then I thought, "why on earth would someone take amused glee at a missing piece of "vital" witness evidence, while working on this case for no monetary gain?"

Has anyone gone over the idea that maybe Hy knows Len is fucking crazy and is willing to donate his time and effort to sink this court case so Len goes to jail? Saul confirmed that his actions are fucking insane, someone who was a lawyer for decades ought to know how a court proceedings goes even if it's not in his specified area of expertise.

What if, instead of Hy being senile/believing Len's obvious bullshit, he is a lolcow observer like us? And is making this court case an absolute farce doing whatever Len wants him to, so Len trusts him more, and the judge gets sick of the bullshit and will likely move against any lenience that may have once been shown.

Hy no doubt has read this thread, has seen all our evidence calling out Len's bullshit over and over, and he would have also seen how crazy effective it is to pretend to be on Len's side, because Len believes it immediately...

Perhaps this is one man just trying to do one last good thing for the community.

That wouldn't explain all of the stupid batshit stuff Hy did during the rest of the proceedings today.

Unless he is so willing to be a lolcow observer that he'd gladly make himself look like an idiot?

I really can't see that. Intentionally tanking a case like this is something that could really ruin a lawyer, even more so than being a senile nutjob. I guess it's theoretically possible, but if that's the case, and it's found to be true then it would cast a shadow across his whole career, and perhaps his son's.

I dont think someone would ruin their professional life and ending its career by acting like a retard to arrest and troll a manchild.

Doing whatever Len wanted done (accusations of Kiwi Farms, screenshots, etc) is a way of guaranteeing that Len will keep Hy for the real trial as well. Hy 100% has Len's trust and demonstrated that today. If Hy had acted professional, Len would've chimped out thinking Hy stupidly let all this evidence go to waste.

Hy has no reason to act professional since he's no longer with the firm, and his antics are known by only a handful of people. His reputation is sound.

The weirdest thing to me is that he's going to a court facing criminal charges, & he takes a nice snapshot of himself like he's headed to Easter mass. "Don't you look so handsome & grown up in your suit, Lenny!"

If its true, then he is the ultimate Clyde cash/Vivian gee

I'm just not seeing it. I suppose one could say that Hy is going into this saying "Eh, fuck it, I'm winding down my career as a lawyer, why not just have some fun?" but even then, I kinda think something like this would, as Kiwi Koala said, cast a huge shadow over his son, and I would hope Hy wouldn't want his son's legacy to be "Wow, so your father went fucking batshit insane before he retired..."

Considering how hard Hy's son emphasised that Hy was no longer with the firm, maybe they had a fall-out/Hy's son knows Hy is doing things for shits and giggles now.

Anyway, sheer optimistic interpretation aside, I still want to delve deeper into the "wink".
@Kirby - any more details on that? What was your interpretation?

Yeah, I agree. I think the guy's legit lost his marbles. But I am with @Jashinist on this, at least---that wink has me completely thrown for a loop. It doesn't make sense. Unless that was Hy's way of saying, "don't worry, you're next"?

I wouldn't overthink Hy Mayerson at this point, the wink was more or less probably just Hy's way of smugly implying "Oh Curt ran away? With all this terrorist evidence from the Kiwi Farms, I'd run away too if I was him."

Mayerson is very clearly the manifestation of Shaner's delusions in legal form. It's going to be a fun ride.

B) Hy hates Leonard Shaner and is doing this pro bono so that he can get Shaner the maximum sentence possible by purposely being a fucking nut job. He didn't help Shaner's case at all. In fact I think he actually made it worse by pissing off the judge.

This was my first thought after reading the post about how it all went down, and Hy presented that handful of Kiwi Farms printouts. No sane lawyer would have gone off the rails like he did.

This story was awesome. I was a little disappointed that Shaner didn't have a meltdown in court that got him jailed in contempt, but this more than makes up for that. Kudos to everyone that was there!
