There is: It was 2007/2008. Not many of the earliest video LPs stood the test of time because nobody could escape the limits of their hardware/software/video hosting. It wasn't until this decade (hell, the last 5 years) that HD video/audio + production values took off everywhere. But technology aside, LPing was new back then and every idiot goon and hyperactive child embarrassed themselves trying to experiment. Slowbeef and Chip have said so themselves they aren't proud of their earliest shit and (to their credit) most goons from back then are the same.

What there's really no excuse for are the washouts who in Year of Our Lord 2017 are still trying to make a career out of LPing and still haven't changed in nine fucking years. DSP is just one example.

Voidburger and co. are special, though. They've managed to float their bullshit into a living wage by hooking into the troon patreon borg. Not many people have that - shall I say - privilege.

I seem to remember a fair number of people on tumblr and twitter and other such Social Justice hellholes that seemed absolutely convinced that there was some weird mRA neckbeard hateboner for the game that I only saw like, once or twice. It was far less prevalent than SJWs complaining about MRAs with weird Undertale hateboners ever were.

I find that people who dislike undertale (myself included) are more annoyed with its obnoxious fanbase than anything else

oh I completely agree the hypocrisy is palpable, it's just the bits of "Their early videos are kind of gross" comments are a little too...empathetic.

Let's just say an unfunny indie game "studio" popped up in recent years and just so happened to actually "employ" them, Voidburger, and PsychedelicEyeball, making crappy FMV and VR games with "ironic" inside/anime humor.

Oh yeah! They made 100 Ft. Robot Golf, a PlayStation VR title that features Void as a voice actor and earned such stunning accolades as

Problems number one and two are that 100ft Robot Golf is neither a good golf game nor a good giant-robot game. Problem number three is that its PlayStation VR mode actually makes it worse. Throw in bad graphics, limited gameplay options, and an attempt at cheesy humor that forgets the humor part and you’ve got one of PSVR’s more forgettable games.

Coincidentally, much of the game's voice cast is plucked from the Youtube comedy/gaming community, which seems oddly self-fulfilling, since the game is likely to be more enjoyable watching other people comment and play rather than actually playing it.

Oh fucking hell, hbomberguy. Forgive this rant, but I think it's worth bringing a few things about this guy to people's attention.

The author of that tweet tries to present himself as a "rational" SJW, but if you look at his videos and arguments he's honestly pretty bog standard. He considers anyone who uses the words "SJW" and "Regressive Left" to be "Reactionaries", so in his eyes someone like me (left of centre) is on the same political wavelength as Ann Coulter, Pat Buchanan or Ted Cruz. Among his friends and acquaintances are fellow lolcows Kristi Winters and Dan Olson, he's on friendly terms with Pedo Nyberg and he's white-knighted for Milo Stewart. Also, Colby Klaus is a fan of his. I don't actually hold that against him unless he's friends with Klaus (I'm not currently aware if he is) since he can't control who watches his videos, I just thought it was worth mentioning.

He also thinks trigger warnings and safe spaces are a great idea and that you're a "baby" if you're against them and uses a Twitter blockbot. He gained a measure of fame last year when he made a video called "Antifeminism VS FACTS". Despite the video title which implies taking on general antifeminism, the entire video was directed against Sargon of Akkad, more specifically a short video Sargon made debunking the 1 in 5 raype statistic. This is the video in question:

Now as you'll see he does catch Sargon out on a genuine fuck-up. However, if even a second's thought is applied to the rest of the video it doesn't hold up. He admits in the first part of the video that the 1 in 5 statistic is probably inaccurate thereby defeating his own point. He tries to get around this by saying: "But there are other studies which point to this being true!" while failing to mention any. And the second half of the video is just him ranting about Sargon's avatar.

Despite this, the video was lauded in the Social Justice community and hbomberguy was cheered on as a hero. But in reality he didn't accomplish much. Sargon later admitted that his video had been lazily made and conceded that hbomberguy was absolutely right to call him out on the mistakes he made. Plus, hbomberguy's video was pretty thoroughly debunked on the Drunken Peasants of all places just to cap things off.

Now to his credit, he has made some good videos about Davis Aurini and the Sarkeesian Effect, but that's a target so soft the bullseye's made out of marshmallow.

Unfortunately, he's quite popular because he built up an audience doing gaming videos before switching over to the SJW shtick. It's quite a clever tactic because he's effectively established himself as a reasonable guy on video games, garnering a lot of good will with his audience which makes them more inclined to forgive him for his SJW videos.

Also, I don't know if this is true or not (my only source for this is a thread on Kotaku in Action) but apparently during his Something Awful days he used to creep on JesuOtaku. Wonder what he thinks now she's a tranny.

Even disregarding his content, the guy's obnoxious as all fuck. His idea of "jokes" is just a bunch of lolsorandom which, combined with the overwhelming smugness just make his stuff unpleasant to sit through. So yeah, if you were hoping to find an intellectual heavyweight defender of far-left lunacy you're gonna have to keep looking.

Seriously, look up how shitty their games are. If anyone ever thought LPers could somehow make fun or playable games, then lol. Guess again. But it seriously serves to show just how networked together these assholes are.

Honestly I do like what no goblin does. The two actual developers there are ex-harmonix devs and their two games play really nicely. certainly not a fan of including the usual suspects but the games aren't bad

Yeah @BlueSpark summarized a lot of what I was feeling about Retsupurae recently, especially about the circlejerk nature of early RP videos and how slowbeef was/is a sperg. Diabetus is chill and a mostly cool guy, slowbeef always came across as a cringy sperg who took LPs too seriously.

I can't speak for the man but I think it's fair to say that slowbeef getting worked up over old lets plays was at least intended to be a joke. I don't think he was actually that emotional that some moron had his camera sideways for the entire video or wahtever.

Yeah, Slowbeef's pissfits were intended to be jokes. But while most of the time he was harmless, sometimes he simply forgot that riffs are supposed to be entertaining, and would just spend 10 minutes screeching at his mic about how bad the LPer was at Contra or how terrible someone else's Snatcher LP was. It was pretty frustrating to see him overreact to get more views while he and the other goons loved to talk shit about PewDiePie for doing the exact same thing.

Here's another example of Slowbeef being a prick that people haven't mentioned yet.
Guy does a pretty good job playing a fairly hard game, records it properly, but makes an annoying gimmicky voice throughout the first minutes of the LP. Slowbeef decides to act like this is one of the worst videos he'd ever seen on the internet.

I realized Fedule was a crazy coolaid drinker when I made my post at the top of the page and saw his "Everyone use CON to protect yourself from dox!" post but holy shit I didn't think they were all that far gone. They legitimately treat GG like it was some sorta fucking war. They're so caught up in their internet safe space that they actually don't have lives.
Liking Let's Plays, sure, I can get liking a hobby. Living for Let's Play and going "AHHH THE NAZIS ARE COMING! BUILD THE WALLS!" like a headless chicken and trying to "vet" people for some random ass chat is so pathetic I can't even laugh at it.
