When Let's Plays became a thing on Youtube, the spergs on Something Awful got so buttmad that their idea leaked to the outside world that they started raids on Youtube accounts that did Let's Plays.

Must have been super effective, given that I never even knew it happened. I wonder if they'll use the same strength and efficiency to get the electoral college to choose Hillary.

That said, it's really ironic to hear Something Awful Let's Players social justice warriors complain about harassment when they have a rich history of bullying anyone outside their sphere.

TO answer this question you have to look at the circumstance of the average goon. By the early 2000's SA had a reputation as a (as our own forum thread refereed to it) "Web 1.0 Giant". It was the vanguard of internet humor, the proving ground for those who would go on to be defining voices of internet comedy. Mega64, the nightvale guy, someone else probably, and many others have their roots in SA. It was also a forum with a semi corporate set up, where a lowly grunt could climb the rungs to the front page where they could potentially start a portfolio because SA was gonna garner widespread notoriety any day now.

A goon has to have copious amounts of free time to post the tens of thousands of times you need to be respected on the forums so they're likely unemployed, and if they're seeking out refuge online they're most likely anti-social in real life, and the caustic nature of the site means they're probably not very pleasant. There's also the fact that the Left tends to attract the more destitute in society since it has a heavy influence on government safety nets. So now you have an entire forum of people who believe they're going to be the definers of the future with a similar political stance and a caustic delivery system that doesn't allow for a lot of nuance, and of course you're going to get Extremists.

Glad to see this thread. I've thought about making a thread on VoidBurger for a while now,but didn't because she didn't really stand out too much to me as a cow. She just seemed like your average Tumblrina SJW to me. A definite exceptional individual but not really distinct from the rest.

The one cool thing I remember her doing was when she had an argument with Alex Kazai (the Silent Hill Wiki guy who obsessed about circumcision). That was funny, but only because he was a bigger retard than her.

If we're going after SA people now keep an eye on Thornbrain. Guy makes really great content when it comes to LPs, but he has some SJW tendencies that come up on his tumblr. While I don't believe he's ever had a full on chimp out, haven't looked at his stuff in a while, he's still someone worth having in mind.

I ve known Thorn for a while and this isnt exactly new. A few years back when he was still mainly doing Abridged series as opposed to LPs there was quite a bit of drama related to that, most of which is in the Tumblr archives.

Speaking of archives, he has an entire wiki and YouTube channel devoted to painstakingly archiving everything he's ever uploaded to the internet, like that actually matters to anyone but himself. Least it saves us the effort.

As soon as that thing gets mainstream, for the first month you'll see hundreds of commenters with "SA" in their username shitting all over it and talking about how they invented and perfected it.

Which, of course, those fade quickly now because SA is irrelevant.

Despite being a heavy internet user, I hadn't heard of Something Awful until around 2009 when I started looking at LPs.

I did notice when some goofballs all with "SA" in their usernames were complaining that they somehow owned the concept* and that people needed to pay due respect or to do things "the right way". They exuded smug superiority and heaped condescension upon their enemies.
