This looks fun, hopefully you don't end up insane by the third game
Silly you, I might end up insane by the end of this first game if the end boss bugs out on me a third time.

Yeah I didn't mention this before but, while I have gotten to the last boss, I haven't "beaten" him because he kept bugging out and not dying when his HP bar got to 0. Twice this happen on two different play throughs. This LP would be my third try at beating this game. :story:

Still think calling it. "THE EVIL" is stupid. The movie didn't have a better name. According to wikapedia it credited as"The Intelligence".

But you know what, This at least means Cyro was taking inspiration from the movie, by naming it something super generic.

Sometimes I enjoy pointing out the little mistakes like this. They disable you turning in the starting room so you can't go left or right. But you can still hold strafe and go left and right anyway

Once we enter the first room, the door shuts behind us.

For the final boss at the end of level 7 yes.

This room here, is a real Middle finger. Take a quick look, can you spot the mines.

The trick is the mines are invisible, and they also do random-ish damage. Now the mines are always in the same locations every time you play this level, so if you wanted to memorize the locations you can.

Where mines 2 and 3 both did 10'th of that. Sometimes I get hit by 3 of the like 4-6 mines ( I don't know how many there are) and lose 3/4 of my HP, sometimes I get away with only losing 1/4

It's stupid, and bullshit design.

As we walk to the middle of the room , we get ambush.

Do you think the cyborgs are hiding on top of the ceiling tiles? You know that space where the ducting tends to be.

And then they see us, and jump down.

And again when we try to open the next door. Feels like I am a god damn pokemon trainer trying to avoid eye contact at this point.

This does lead to a fun little thing to show off.

I mentioned how Inf hp cheat can bug out the animation on these guys.

Turn down the sound a bit, because people walking in on you might think you watching porn.

As you can see on our way back, new mines got placed. and yes they are 100% invisible. I don't think it's a emulator problem. I think the game just being bullshit.

This is the only reason to even "save him" he'll heal you to full. This also turn that red light over there green. Not that it matters, the door isn't real.

And as soon as you step in this room, you take force damage, because Joan coughs from the smoke in the air. Which you can't see, and never hurts you again.

I didn't even know this guy had only 1 eye till I took this. Hell I might be the only person to care enough to find out this fact, with in the last 20 years.

Check that animation out. Kind of shit I love to find in old games. Pretty sure this was still around the time (1999) that everything is still hand animated. None of that mocap shit.

Just a little teaser. Update 3 isn't anywhere close yet. I am getting data of what the difference between the two guns are.

OH NO! Not escort missions! One of the most annoying way to pad a game length
Funny thing about that. This is another spoiler. This is one of the shortest levels. There a different reason this escort mission sucks.
 
Okay I did some tests with the guns, by using the memory address reader that built into the duck station's cheat manger.

Here are the results.

Inf ammo starter gun: Shit damage to everything, best to use on every day mooks like the shun.

Non inf ammo gun: Seems to be armor piercing the more cyborg/armored it is the more damage it does, don't bother on the shuns it does the same damage to them.

For example let's take shun's

Here is the HP a shun on level 1 I found has which is slightly higher then later ones you meet.

I tested it with the other gun and it did the same 10 damage.

Now let's try this on a more cyborg-y enemy.

Mind you different enemies have different "resistances" so the extra amount differs.


For example I tested this with out looking at the memory address for the first boss, normal inf ammo gun is 4 full clips of 8 shots to kill.

While the limited ammo gun is 3 full clips of 8 and 1 extra shot from the 4th clip.

Sometimes it really doesn't matter much.

Unless the Manuel which I don't have and can't find online tells you this. I would have thought the other gun was 100% useless.

Well I better go start working on the update now that my autism over small details is settled down. :story:

I'm drunk and a retard when it comes to math but I think you said inf ammo gun = good on Shun bad on everything else

Good on everything else so far give or take. But you fight so many shuns you might as well just keep inf ammo gun out 95% of the time as you hit them on accident, trying to aim at the ones the other gun works on, and they love to clump together.

And even then things like the first boss it's really just a matter of how long you wish the battle to take. It still take way too much time for something that meant to be good against it.
(7 less bullets compared to the inf ammo gun)

There is one enemy in the upcoming update where the second gun is hands down the best option.

We can finally go find these people. Here a fun fact. This level is only 7 rooms big. Yet I spent the most time doing stuff for this LP so far on this level.

Yeah more shuns just falling from the ceiling. That's how this game pads this small level out. EVERY, FUCKING ROOM HAS A AMBUSH, EVEN WHEN YOU HAVE TO BACKTRACK PAST THEM. EVEN WHEN YOU HAVE TO BACK BACK TRACK TO GET THE OTHER PERSON TO ESCORT AND ON THE WAY BACK AGAIN.

I do like the way this next room looks.

Maybe this is where the hotel. "recycles the water". IMO it's a giant empty pool.

You get cut off half way across, with one behind you as well. But there a trick to make this room easy.

Stick to the right till they drop wait a second turn around. Dodge the guy behind you.

You want to learn how to back up before they try to attack, because you need to dodge attacks or they will bee line, and target the escort.

Next room has 3 more. Oh and look how much damage 1 ATTACK DOES TO THE ESCORT.
Mind you there is no invincibility frames. If two of these fucks attack the escort they taking both hits. Thankfully they have a little down time between attacking again.

This is the only enemy so far worth switching to the other gun on a fly if you got a clear shot on them . It will one shot them.

You may be asking. How many shots does the inf ammo gun take to kill these guys? NINE SHOTS.

This is the only time this level shitter gives you a medkit, and he doesn't even tell you he did.
This feels like a mercy the devs give you.

But before we move onto our next victim.

If I don't need to show something off with a save state like the door being fake last level. I try to do these levels in one full non save state recording.
Sometimes These runs end up me failing for what ever reason and I delete them. But once in a while you run into bugs you never seen before.

Out of like the 10 times before recording, I practiced this level. I never once had her get stuck .

This is one of the more fun encounters. You have the learn to strafe in the back making you strafe to dodge the bullets, as shuns fall down and start to close in.
Even this game can get a fluke and be fun.

Fun to note is you can't back up. You duck now when pressing back, and it can be used to dodge bullets and attacks.

I always hated short levels that get a thousand enemies as padding, so the devs can pretend the level was totally not super short
It's even worse once you throw in the two escorts. I would rather do RE4 escorts for the 30th time. Because in RE4 it's more like ashly is a tower defense core, and you have a lot of lee way to save her while dealing with all the rest of the chumps.

At least there were options of making her stay hidden and Leon weapons could do decent damage oh and the game was better coded than this mess
 
Finally got around to starting to record level 4. I might as well be a GDQ speedrunner at the rate I run into. "Never seen that before" bullshit.



After some more testing., I did figure out what happen.

Now this is not a bug. It a intended feature.

The game wants you to kill all these humans who are shooting at you. By triggering the next set of them to spawn in, while you still have some of them alive from a previous set. Causes you to DIE ON THE SPOT.

THE GAME IS ACTIVELY PUNISHES YOU FOR TRYING TO GO TOO FAST.

Encase you guys want to know which one I failed to not kill. It's the sneaky little fuck in the door.

You might notice we have a new gun. The game has with out telling us upgraded our old Inf ammo gun to one that shoots a bit faster and has 4 more ammo.

Our other gun is untouched.

When first playing this mission I thought the guys in blue was the police. Because they do "fight" the cyborgs. By that I mean there two times you see a cutscene of the two fighting. Other
wise you fight one or the other.

But this game came out before the anime by a few years. I doubt the french devs was reading the manga at the time. Let's just chalk this up to pure coincidence, and the zeitgeist of late 90's early 2000's cyberpunk.

These guys are all ranged and have bullshit hitboxs on the guns they shoot. Make sure you hug this right wall as soon as you step out and keep firing.

Once the next guy spawns he have time to shoot before you kill him, and if you standing in the same spot you pop out of the elevator from , he will hit you.
This is why we hug the wall.

He has two attacks. One where he shoots a bunch of little red projectiles that don't hurt too much, and one where he shoots two or three big blue/white ones that do.
Otherwise he just stands in place like a turret.
Yes the second gun works best on these guys.

His pattern is shoot at the spot he spawns in. Go to the left shoot there, go back to the middle shoot there, go to the right shoot there, go back to the middle to repeat the cycle.
