Let's start this with the least controversial entry in the series, the one one from 96 (Well more precisely the rebuilt since it fixed a few things
Don't go past 2:35:06 as this is roughly when the endings start which will be added in a future post
(I don't have the mean to record this game so i have to make do with this mess of a op, things will get better starting with the first psp game)

I've been meaning to play it but haven't gotten around to it. I've played Mad Father though which I've heard is similar. Quite enjoyed that one, especially the OST.

Enjoyed it for what it is back then, but i remember feeling that whoever wrote it had some sort of sick fascination with gore or something, death scenes went on for minutes too long, describing how much pain the character is going through, their crying, last thoughts... And hey, visual novel, i get it, but even then... A lot of moments here read like the author was borderline aroused by them

Story would benefit from less "Main Character Syndrome", you immediately knew who would survive in canon from the beginning alone. That wouldnt be a problem if any of the main protags were interesting, but they're just bland as fuck, dont even remember the names.

All that said, i do remember being hooked on the series for a while, it'll be nice to relive that

If I remember correctly the maker of the game had a piss/omorashi fetish so him having a guro fetish wouldn't surprise me.

The original one from '96 is fine, Blood Covered and Book of Shadows are good, Blood Drive is hot garbage. Don't really care about Dead Patient and it's anyone's guess as to when/if they're actually going to finish it. Switching to the 3D chibi models was one of the biggest mistakes they made.

I played through Blood Covered, including Gaiden Chapters. I didn't finish Book of Shadows, since i got bogged down with all the filler chapters, plus my friend who got me into the series spoiled me the ending, so no big deal. I liked the story, even if at some points it gets a bit grimderp, but it really goes off the fucking rails with the Sachiko Birthday Party Something-Or-Other game and Blood Drive. I won't give spoilers unless someone wants, but I was sorely disappointed in the direction it went. Sometimes less is just more.

The ending of Book of Shadows is so absolutely retarded that it spun me around from feeling like I wasted my time to being glad I finished it. I didn't even finish Blood Drive.

Corpse Party was one of my main inspirations back in junior high to get into drawing and that got me to do some character design for some friends gsme pet projects. I am not much into horror but somehow this game trapped me from start to finish. I never got around the later sequels and remakes. For some reason the original game with the fan localization patch has a special place in my heart, it carries a weird mix of ugly and charm that I can not quite put on words why I like it so much.

I just remember, earlier this year I started Blood Drive, I forgot about it almost a week later. I think I only played like 2 hours tops and I have no intentions to play it again.

Oh is it really that bad, or just a forgettable game?

It not like it is a forgettable game but it goes into that because it was tedious for me: the story starts kind of creepy and it had a decent build up at the start that hooked me up until the school chapters, where you are exposed to the complete gameplay.

The game is slower to control thanks to the jump to 3D graphics and I see that the developer tried to emulate older entries of the series but it feels underdeveloped on some ways that I can not put into words, and that damn stamina bar makes the game annoying to play, because if a spirit sees you, you will deplete the bar trying to outrun it or searching for a hiding place, and if it goes down to 0 (as it drains way too fast), your character will stop on spot to "catch some breath", leaving you completely exposed. The lantern mechanic did not bothered me at all, it even has a toggle in the options to keep it running without fearing of running out of batteries.

The Chibi style does not help with the immersion and I think since the PSP entries, the scantly dressed magical girls barely tied to the plot for no good reason other than to show tits and ass are an unnecessary addition to the series imho, and this game is no exception. But the game biggest sin of all is that it has a to load. A lot. Even it has a load screen for the pause menu. The game is not graphically intensive, and I have no idea if this is bad optimization or something with the Unity engine (because this game is made on it) but when a game has to show you a "Now Loading" message for a JPG file with some text on it, you really messed up. Other than the "dynamic shadows" that the game has, this could be running on a PSP without any troubles if ported properly. Oh, and iirc, the game tells you to play with headphones at the start, and when a game tells you that is a red flag for me, notable exceptions of this rule of mine are both Hotline Miami games.

I played it on my husband's vita, so IDK if some of the problems with the load times were fixed on the PC port, but from what I had played so far, I have no desire to finish the game myself. Do not take my word for the game, if you have a chance to play it before buying it, give it a try, you may enjoy it more than I did.

It's terrible both in terms of gameplay and story. Which is a shame, because the bonus chapter of Book of Shadows had me excited to see where things were going (save for the stupid way it ended). Blood Drive had a promising premise but quickly turned to shit. If you're really curious, watch a playthrough on YouTube. It's not worth paying for.

Oops did not put thread on watch so I only now realized people posted in it
Here are the endings of Corpse Party Rebuilt, ranging from D-2 (Worst of the worst) to A (Best Ending)

How to get each ending
D-2: Leaving Yuka to her fate in the girls' lavatory and letting Yoshiki be killed by the anatomical model in the science lab in order to save Ayumi
D-1: Leave Yuka to her fate and run away instead of saving Ayumi
C: Have Naomi accompany Yuka in the girls' lavatory or being mean to Yuka when the group finds a corpse for the first time
B-3: Let Yuka die but Ayumi is not dead
B-2: Yuka lives but Yoshiki dies saving Ayumi
B-1: Yuka lives but Yoskiki ran away letting Ayumi dies
A: Everyone is alive by the end of the game
--------‐-----------------------------------

From this point on no spoiling the story (not even in spoilers) since the descent into progressive madness of the series is best experienced blind if you have not seen it yet, discussion of stuff seen in the following games after we have seen the things (like speaking of a chapter or part of a chapter) is ok

Sorry if I sound like a scrub but what is the format, was that a video LP prequel to setup the main LP of the thread?

Yeah
Also first vote: Which version do i use of Corpse Party do i use for the next game? Each release has more content (More wrong ends, EX chapters and the Switch version has even two more characters or so I read)

Part of me wants one of the earlier releases for the nostalgic feels but id say go with Switch if it has more content, it'd be nice to be surprised with new stuff

Well shit, I didn't really find more reasonable length videos for the Switch version so here are the options i have: Do a screenshot lp of the psp version chapters and then upload a video of the Switch version or just upload the Switch version video after I watched it and wrote my commentary which I would put after the video
Option one would be faster while option 2 means we use only 1 version
Oh yeah, THIS IS A VOTE
