The game is slower to control thanks to the jump to 3D graphics and I see that the developer tried to emulate older entries of the series but it feels underdeveloped on some ways that I can not put into words, and that damn stamina bar makes the game annoying to play, because if a spirit sees you, you will deplete the bar trying to outrun it or searching for a hiding place, and if it goes down to 0 (as it drains way too fast), your character will stop on spot to "catch some breath", leaving you completely exposed. The lantern mechanic did not bothered me at all, it even has a toggle in the options to keep it running without fearing of running out of batteries.
The Chibi style does not help with the immersion and I think since the PSP entries, the scantly dressed magical girls barely tied to the plot for no good reason other than to show tits and ass are an unnecessary addition to the series imho, and this game is no exception. But the game biggest sin of all is that it has a to load. A lot. Even it has a load screen for the pause menu. The game is not graphically intensive, and I have no idea if this is bad optimization or something with the Unity engine (because this game is made on it) but when a game has to show you a "Now Loading" message for a JPG file with some text on it, you really messed up. Other than the "dynamic shadows" that the game has, this could be running on a PSP without any troubles if ported properly. Oh, and iirc, the game tells you to play with headphones at the start, and when a game tells you that is a red flag for me, notable exceptions of this rule of mine are both Hotline Miami games.
I played it on my husband's vita, so IDK if some of the problems with the load times were fixed on the PC port, but from what I had played so far, I have no desire to finish the game myself. Do not take my word for the game, if you have a chance to play it before buying it, give it a try, you may enjoy it more than I did.
