The new characters (Ryouka & Miku) are only for the new Extra chapter, not for the main game. It takes place in 2020 (during coof lockdowns) where both girls get transported into the timeline of the first Corpse Party, after performing the ritual.

The sole difference within the main game between the PSP and 3DS/Switch/PS4 versions are the few extra wrong ends, the most noticeable one being the bug pool maze (a mandatory section that didn't exist on the PSP version) in the last chapter. Reading every memoir paper in the first chapter makes Seiko literally lose her mind.

I remember this Chapter has one of the most painful or at least messed up death in it

 
My biggest problem with book of shadows is how the game doesn't stick with a type of story and it ends up being a compilation of stories with barely any relation with each other. If it was all "what if" stories taking place on the time loop bad ending, or all stories taking place before the events of the game then i feel i wouldn't mind it as much since at least there would be a degree of consistency.

Wtf why didn't I see this thread sooner? I'm the weirdo who hasn't played the games yet (have the Steam versions) though I had watched playthroughs in college, but I did read the manga and watch the OVA. Honestly really do like it, but yeah, it's definitely a guro series and it relishes in it while pretending it's much more than that. Which whatever, it's still a fun experience, but holy shit it gets masturbatory sometimes. Would explain why Musume happened, honestly.

What's Musume, OP may be asking? It's a more ecchi take on the series.

You really don't want to know, trust me. Like the piss fetish @Coelacanth mentioned was definitely much more focused in this manga than in the games, but there's still a lot of fucked stuff in it.

Anyhoo one day I'll play through the Steam version, but I don't really wanna go at it alone. I'm a pussy when it comes to horror games (Higurashi is like the exception lol).

It took me 6 or 7 tries to upload because my usual browser kept reloading the page and even refreshing the page did not always save my post drafts but at least we got over the chapter with the worst or tied as worst character from the Corpse Party remake

I am not looking forward to next Chapter since it is by far the most pointless one (hey let's taake a bad ending from Corpse Party that was messed up enough with how certain things were implied), it makes me so annoyed i won't spoil it's a Yuka chapter

Well I still don't know if the writer for '96 was the same as later entries (I think not but i could be wrong but the lack of fetish stuff in that one seems to point at that possibly)
