LGR / Lazy Game Reviews Appreciation Thread - Greetings and welcome to another Kiwi Farms thread.

Used to watch LGR fairly often. Always got a kick out of his thrifting videos. Once he started moving away from DOS games and old tech to focus more on “wacky zany” gimmick gadgets I started to lose interest. Wish the dude no ill will, but he just kind of bores me now.
I'd take those gimmick gadgets over beige boxes he keeps doing nothing with expcept playing the same two games and one midi.

When LGR started it made more sense to have a Win98 box because PC emulation wasn't a thing yet and DOSBox was terrible. VirtualBox still isn't a substitute. 2 decades and later and now we have PCem/86box, DOSBox-X and FPGA up to 486. What's the point of having a 30 year old piece of shit from the 90s that's gonna break at any time when you can just emulate up to Pentium 2 + Voodoo 2 and play all the games as god intended? All you really need is an old monitor and boom.

Been watching LGR for a couple of years now. His older content (anything DOS, early nineties etc.) is more intresting to me, I don't need to see the guy build a Ryzen PC, unbox a PS2 or Dreamcast, mess around with mini PCs or putting more shit in the front of a computer.
I would never send him stuff though, because he has more than enough crap already, and if it turns out the guy fucks dogs or whatever, I would feel pretty silly.

Imagine sending him something and learning it was destroyed when his house got flooded from a hurricane.
I would have sympathy for him, but then I realized that a lot of his shit that got destroyed he probably only kept around in a less safe location so he could use it for his YouTube channel as a prop. He always said he wanted to start a museum with all the stuff he accumulated over the years, then why the hell did he not move it somewhere as safe as possible to ensure it all stays in good shape. Even the fact that he tried to shore his house up against the flooding shows that he knew there was a risk, but he didn't want to move it all. People that actually run museums go through great efforts to make sure that their exhibits are preserved in any circumstance.

I don't think his content sucks by any stretch, but I sure hope people are more wary about sending him stuff in the future.

What the hell do you expect from people sending old crap from thrift stores to some guy who runs a YouTube channel? It sucks that stuff in his house and storage locker got destroyed. But looking at the chapter titles on his 'recovery' videos, the only items that might be anywhere near 'rare' were things that are interesting basically as jokes and that really didn't need to exist after he made videos about them.

Should he have bought land at the top of a hill, downed any nearby trees and erected a giant hermetically sealed concrete bunker? Would you have donated to help establish the 'LGR Museum Foundation', to make sure that various novelty mice, the Avon Beautyvision, and a shitty Ferrari themed laptop survived? Of course not. I'm sure the really good stuff, like the 5 1/4" cigarette lighter bay, survived the flood just fine.

It sucks that an Apple Newton bit the dust. I'm interested to learn that LGR had an Epson QX-10, a system I'd never heard of (because it sucked and was unsuccessful) and sad that he didn't make a video about it, but even that relatively rare (outside Europe) machine is nothing exceptional and no real loss. It's not like an Apple Lisa or a Xerox Star or some vintage minicomputer bit the dust.

I'm sure a lot more of Clint's taff will survive this actually catastrophic exceptional flood than the usual event that this kind of stuff meets, which is that some old guy with a bunch of crap dies and his last remaining relatives throw it all out without even trying to list the cleanest looking stuff on eBay that their crazy uncle was so dedicated to hoarding. After all is said and done, Clint's triplicate boxed copies of every Sims expansion ever will probably be more intact and functional than Microsoft billionaire Paul Allen's 'museum' collection of actually valuable shit after it's all been sold off piecemeal and shipped around the world in badly packaged courier boxes.
I'd say she's more "cute" than "hot", personally.
She's certainly not Clint's equal as far as optimizing for the YouTube algorithm goes, or she would have figured out why this video is more popular than almost all of her others (apart from videos focused on subjects that really get computing enthusiasts turgid like NeXT Cubes) and done more of the same.

I've recommended him before but Budget Builds is pretty good. He's doing a similar thing but he often goes after the cheapest components he can find on ebay, hardware that got massively shit on at the time or oddware graphics cards(or other hardware). I don't know if he does it anymore but part of his testing used to be to make that computer his main for two weeks and edit the resulting video on it. Then give his opinion of how it holds up. That's a fun kind of summary.

Retrocomputing titty streamers are an untapped market. But the NeXT video was infuriating. Instead of showing the screen the camera is behind her shoulder so her uwu cube earings are in frame.

My favorite thing about Macintosh Librarian is that she is one of only two female retro creators I know of who (a) knows what she's talking about and (b) isn't a tranny. MsMadLemon is the other one, even though she's more about music creation on retro hardware (ala cTrix) than tech stuff these days.
If you’re looking for some cozy tech content and learning about weird knockoff phones Smoorez is a good easy watch.
I enjoy his wholesome, somewhat self-depricating style. I also like how he marks out his timeline, making it easy to skip to whichever parts of the video are of interest to the viewer.

There was some patreon update video where he explicitly says yes to trans rights and bitches about the bathrooms for a bit. Still his public facing videos are quite enjoyable and entertaining.
I loved the DKC2 review with the robot voice when he was sick

edit: Found the clip (40:12, is there a way to timestamp in an embed?)
I used to watch him, but I really can't enjoy content from someone who so cravenly and furiously sucks tranny dick. - just can't take him seriously.

This is such an odd thing to me. You'll see some 50-something old mom make cooking videos but her fat saggy veiny tits in view. Is that her whoring out, or is she "Using a girl's trick ;)"?

Genuinely doubt it. It's TOO autism coded. Maybe if she did more mainstream tech shit like that aussie cunt who repairs apple products and had her cans out. Rarely do I come across an "actual" autistic woman on youtube. Even those who do kids movies reviews and star wars deep dives (but against Disney as a producer) are still within the range of normie to me.

I can already imagine a british miniature train chick. She'd guaranteed have her tits out OR wear brown and beige, do the whole "Librarian" aesthetic to pull on the "sexy but clothed" stereotypes. Wait, librarian? Almost as if..
