I don't know, I find it kind of refreshing that Level1Techs aren't constantly pandering to the algorithm the way most other channels do. Their news show is kind of like a podcast, they're doing a "three friends talking about the news" thing, it's nice enough to listen to during a commute if your other pods haven't put out new episodes, though Ryan tends to dominate things a bit too much for my tastes and I wish Wendell/Krista would just tell him to shut up sometimes. They probably should put the news on a separate Level1Discussion channel or something though, the audience is already so tiny they can't be earning much from the news episodes, particularly not when their audience is skewed so heavily nerd that most of their viewers use adblockers, and they so frequently veer into topics the censor bot will demonetise. You could make a drinking game out of Ryan and Wendell talking about "the collapse", or Krista rolling her eyes at some stupid comment Ryan made, and it would kill you.
I think this is criticism YouTube deserves rather than Wendell&co, though. Lots of channels have to split their content into multiple channels, Linus having a separate unboxing channel because he lost too many subscribers who were annoyed by that spam of garbage content is an example of this. Linus no doubt is equally upset that a lot of his main channel subscribers who would have watched the unboxing garbage won't, because it's hidden away on a different channel. It would be better if you could just have subchannels. Level1Techs could have a Linux, a News, a Hardware, et sic porro subchannel, and when you click subscribe on the main channel you can choose types of content to ignore.
As much as I like Wendell's autistic antics, it's probably best to bear in mind that he is just as biased as Linus is. Linus will shill whoever pays him all day, but you should remember that Wendell was an adamant defender of Vega and Bulldozer right up until RDNA and Ryzen, when he was suddenly free to laugh about how hilariously awful Vega and Bulldozer were, all memory of shilling them but a week prior gone. Intel no longer sends him review samples for a reason.
