Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

This points out one of the biggest problems. Nobody fucking knows about the website. In all 3 years he has talked about the lab. On WAN, in videos. He has never once dropped a link to the website. At least when i tuned in to watch a review. He mentions that the lab has done testing sure. But the only link that matters LTTstore. It is the same problem as the Honey issue. He got flack because his notification was in a thread on the forum that gets 0 airtime. So he might as well have said nothing at all.
It almost seems like he doesn’t want people to know about the Labs. The site has no ads or any visible monetization.

Maybe he’s worried it would take too many views away from his YouTube channels.

If he were smart, each Labs entry would have an accompanying video breaking down the results. That would capture way more attention than the snooze-fest of "Scrapyard Wars" that no one asked for. Plus, it would provide a steady stream of relevant content that the main channel sorely needs.

I own this keyboard. It’s a pretty solid thing, I won’t be throwing it through a car window any time soon but it doesn’t rattle. So either their unit is bad or it’s written by an AI.
You're talking about people who tested a mouse and didn't take the plastic off the skates. Tested a bespoke GPU waterblock on the wrong card (even though the company supplied them with the right card). LTT is a joke.

I think just about everyone assumed that would be the fucking point. To actually have tech content on his "tech tips" channel and be able to actually post videos with content discussing real tests and actual product reviews.

The fact that he's flushing this money down the fucking toilet on a website no one will read(as if he's some modern day halfassed equivalent of jonnyguru for PSU testing) and a black hole of an AI slop youtube channel with no views, makes you wonder if the whole thing is some kinda tax scam.

Pretend to invest in doing a thing, do the most basic halfassed version of it possible, and then be able to shrug and claim surprise when it fails?

Linus going for the private jet life would be beyond hilarious. Especially when the inspectors find some retarded jury rigging for cruising altitude air cooling of a server rack, and refuse to let it fly.
"We just bolted this car radiator to the outside of my private jet and drilled a few holes through it for copper tube."

"what?..."

The only reason as to why i think he is not promoting it. Is that plausible deniability. He can say labs said this, and nobody would really check a unknown part of his web presence. Perhaps that is why, GN chapps his ass so much. He is ruining the unearned authority in his videos. By calling attention to his operational fuck ups. He can't do Nvidia shill talking points if his own data undermines the contract he signed.
Labs says you are gay. Labs say you fuck your mother. Labs seems to say exactly what Linus wants them to say.

once again reminding you guys that you should know what you're hating before you hate it

labs

exists

they're literally using all that stuff

i tried bro. i picked a PSU they tested and compared it to Hardware Busters which is run by the guy that runs the Cybenetics lab. Look at the fucking conclusions.

Linus Gook Tips https://www.lttlabs.com/articles/psu/seasonic-focus-gx-1000-atx-3-2024

>"Solid overall performance"

HWB.png
Hardware Busters https://hwbusters.com/psus/seasonic-focus-gx-1000-atx-3-2024-psu-review/11/
>new design not as good as previous
>low overall performance
>high price
>here's some better alternatives for same or less money
>fan curve is fucking weird

The conclusions are fucking opposite. HWB points out the very real flaws and makes a case that Seasonic needs to try a little harder in light of the stronger and often cheaper competition and higher price they list at.

Linus's "labs" conclusion is about as useful as one of the Linus Vax Tips videos.

I don't know if their other "reviews" are this useless but this is flagrantly shit, and basically a DNF.

Yep. And now that we know it exists we see it is as low-effort and no-value-added as everything else they do.

They produce AI generated slop videos on a second channel called PSU circuit and have been doing that for some time https://youtube.com/channel/UCeQwQIoGPvEQFZ3jJ1NEJMQ
this is fucking embarrassing and not even a review.

compared to this linus is not even an also-ran.

So I click on a PSU page... and it's a bunch of basic shit and similar stuff to what we've seen from toms hardware, techpowerup, anandtech, etc. that managed to do more with less
Here is my criticism of Labs:
It may as well not exist

Why?
1) The empirical, quantitative data that is gathered is largely meaningless
2) The data is presented in an incredibly useless form
Back to my point
All of this is to say, the majority of data they gather does not have meaning on its own if they cannot package and present it.
Data bukkake, no competent interpretation and based on the review i checked against an actually competent review, the conclusions are BULL SHIT. DNF.

Imagine having a dude who had like an entire workstation in his apartment to do keyboard stuff because that's his passion (was one of the extreme tech upgrades); but then just have lab tests and a bot read a script. Imagine having a dude who might have some real fucking insight about what the science numbers say, but now let's put this in front of a human who might understand the human part of typing with a keyboard.

You know how I say I like my keyboards; I like the buttons to be a little stiff, good resistance, and a nice solid *CLACK* when I fucking press it. I don't know how many fucking newtons of force my fingers exert, I don't know how many decibles the sound generated are at, I'm not a fucking robot who reads scientific measurements. I want to know if I'm gonna simulate a whip crack if make my hand flat and just slap the top of the damn thing. I want to know that if I get on a call with someone and push-to-talk isn't enabled, I want to know if my typing will drown out their boring shit. Talk to me like a fucking human.

  • a custom in-house benchmark software suite
And yet he has benchmarks as "good" as JayzTwoCents who's like, just a blogger guy. And less detailed than GamersNexus, which is a couple dudes aside from Steve Burke, and Hardware Unboxed, which is two guys and the other guy does monitors, not CPUs and GPUs.

I think its the plastic-y rattle sound from space bars or any keys that uses a stabilizer as shown in the sound demo, a common issue and can easily be fixed with a band aid and the echoing as described is most likely from the chassis being hollow.
Keyboard frames can have an acoustic influence but not signifecent enough for folks to care, its mostly for aesthetics or hygenic reasons. But even then giving frames to this keyboard would just worsen the echoing rather than dampening it.

Also I have read the article and its very basic with unimportant jargon and a normie understanding of enthusiast, like you will come to the same or better conclusions if you tried the keyboards in-person at a store as you can try both the cherry and silver switches.
Honestly I thought they would flex a bit when it comes to keyboards, as they attract the same people that are into Funkpops.

Nice find. Isn't LTT often sponsored by Seasonic? Since there's nothing subjective about reviewing PSUs, there are only two possibilities here. Either their methodology is absolute shite, or they suck their sponsor's dick. I don't know which option is worse for Linus.

this shit is extra useless because various asian turbonerds from reddit have made a hundred of these graphs for each imaginable type of switch (which have become their own cottage industry by this point) and there is no way linus could ever hope to beat them at their own game and provide any actually new information. as evidenced by the fact that his pick was the k70, the most basic bitch gayming keyboard ever where everyone and their grandma has owned one at some point in the last 15 years and knows exactly what it is.

He knows ii is a caca project It was designed to target channels like Rtings, HWbustesrs, and GN as they are more respected in the industry for doing proprer testing work. His content pivot here was supposed to mirror that of HWBusteres where vendors would endorse LTT testing "standards" and pay to play. This is the backup play for when ad and sponsor revenues coniine to decline.

He knows he's ust an entertainment buffoon leveraging highly inflated views to extort MDF. Nobody in the business side of the industry gives a care if wants to piss away money claiming a yacht or private plane.

I don't think he will ever make the shift away form a babysitting channel fot preteens and spectrium, kids. with his creditability as a serious reviewer long since shot. Labs will only succeed if it is spun off and ran separately, without his involvement. With a handful of guys HWbisters. amd GM rum circl;es around therm, and RTings can literally just airdrop any intern and stll coat past them.

Linus incinerates money.

Y'know, Linus saying "Oh I couldn't disavow honey because it's not my duty to protect my peers and viewers from scams" really does ring hollow because of how he had a whole fucking stream nearly seven years ago disavowing Tunnelbear because of concerns about their acquisition by McAfee (which, by the way, nothing he was concerned about with them has actually come to pass yet).

Linus breaking it off with tunnelbear could have been as simple as tunnelbear trying to negotiate prices after years of regular shilling
It really was said best at his roast "This fuck will put his name on anything with a dollar sign"

Probably was, but he acted like it was because he was some big badass consumer rights activist who cares about his audience. Now seven years later, that lie's come back to bite him in the ass.

The "principled stand" around ending the Tunnelbear sponsorship was always total bollocks.

He was taking sponsorships from anyone, whether they were Intel or a Chinese drop-ship landfill factory. We're supposed to pretend it was a principled stand to not take a sponsorship from a VPN that was ultimately owned by Intel? But Intel themselves (who they review the products of) was totally fine? It made zero sense. It was just an opportunity for Linus to cosplay as consumer champion when a new sponsorship opportunity came up.
