Except the freakish ears on a stand are only meant to inaccurately show the difference in how they sound based on a single music sample and not to actually measure the frequency response, for that he pulls the data off of other sites anyways.

True, but Dank has an awful lot of Linus dickriders in his fanbase who compare almost anything vaguely tech related to what Linus does. Probably because Dank himself comes across as a bit of a Linus dickrider, or at least was in his early vids.

Be that as it may, the FEOAS are as much a part of the channel as Frank and the Pkcells, so I can't see them going anywhere any time soon.

Dank being a "Linus dickrider" should be a given, since Linus is helping him make a living by allowing him to stream on Floatplane.

The drumstream is just a small part of what Dank does. He could quit that tomorrow and still be comfy.

That said, Floatplane seems like one of the less pozzed livestreaming platforms out there. That, and Linus just shits me to tears, wheres I loathe Bezos and everything he stands for. I still won't subscribe to the drumstream because I'm already a DankPods patron and I have too much other stuff to watch.

Video is actually about legally backing up games with a cartridge reader for use with an emulator, so the title and thumbnail are just clickbait.

I'm pretty sure his floor plan is unique enough that someone could peruse permit records or satellite photos to find his house. I figured out where a streamer lived once just from the price he bragged about, the metro area I knew he lived in from other sources, and what his kitchen looked liked from his stream. 10 minutes perusing recently sold real estate listings and then looking the neighborhood up on Google Maps was enough to figure out the exact location. Can't really blame Linus for being paranoid, but if someone really wanted to find him they could and the only way to truly ensure privacy is to well, be private. Also, his Porsche Taycan review's monologue might have been filmed in his driveway:

I've been retired for 16+ years laughing at people like him, making money while sitting on my old and hairy ass while playing video games.

Oh yea... I love cooking... And getting up whenever I want too. And never having to worry about bills.

He can have his lifestyle. I'll drink my beer on my porch and enjoy life.

Don't like LTT and never have. Also not a huge fan of jayztwocents. Only stuff I'll watch is Steve from GamersNexus. Despite how much LTT sucks, gotta say the beard suits him much better. Without it he looked like a 14 year old that got stuffed into lockers by the football team every day. It was rage inducing seeing him previously. He looked like the ultimate soyboy.

You should give Hardware Unboxed a shot as well, I like those guys, very mellow, and I like when they go revisit old topics or re-benchmark things with new patches or drivers. That's actually very interesting, something that can't obviously be done on a new GPU when the press embargo is lifted.

One thing that annoys me about jayztwocents is how he flubs what he's saying all. the. time. and has to correct himself. That's their cute feature/quirk of the channel. Not fond of it.

I check out Hardware Unboxed sometimes but not regularly. Was watching their stuff on Alder Lake before I upgraded. Thanks for the reminder to check them out again.

I see jayz as just showcasing products. Yeah he can build hardware (that sponsors send him), but he doesnt have much understanding of overclocking and associated topics. He probably has someone who does all of that for him to show off. Linus is mostly the same IMO.

Geez, the lab cost 13 million CAD ($10.3m USD). And it wasn't cash on hand, they financed it. That's a hell of a gamble for a single company almost entirely dependent on YouTube.

Info around 37:00. He's explaining a letter to his Floatplane people and says they have about 21k subscribers over there, and they will be "increasingly reliant" on them for revenue as he expects the lab reviews to piss off hardware sponsors. That's an even bigger gamble, undercutting a main revenue stream and relying on a bespoke streaming platform.

I don't care for Linus' videos, never have. Always came across as shilly, his humor isn't my cup of tea, and the eventual race and woman virtue signaling shoehorning was it for me.

I'm most annoyed by how every other tech Youtuber has to name drop Linus when he's shit compared to Gamers Nexus, Hardware Unboxed, etc...

A quick way of getting a more site-friendly version is to use Invidious to grab a 360p version, but even that was too much at ~237 MB so I re-encoded the video to an avg bitrate of 150 Kbps.

Also I didn't know you could open .docx files in WordPad. I guess I've learned something new from LTT!

A week ago I said the lab wouldn't last a year, and here we are where the lab can't even start. Pre-emptively asking for more support in the future because you realized your mouth is writing checks your company can't cash and won't fight for adequate amends on your new building being fucked up by the leaving tenant, such a fag leaf.
