That video gave me brain damage. While he has wifi on every room, this shouldn't be an issue on 5Ghz wifi as it have 100+ channels, if he doesn't want to use auto-channel, he should use a macrocell(you don't use the neighbor cells channels on that AP) design to reuse channels without interference but the tech-soyboys on his company doesn't know how to do it with, that requires only a pen and paper.

Auto channel setup isn't as bad as he made look like, while most implementations checks on boot time only, in reality this isn't bad, people won't be rebooting at the same time and boot times varies between brand, after a few days/weeks it fixes itself organically at least in SOHO and homes.

With what I know and all the wireless devices I have connected to Internet, I only have a single Wifi router. While I could get away with sticking a wireless AP in the basement, I truly need more Ethernet ports than better wireless access.

I guess the closest thing to it from your list would be not caring if something is ethical or not but we do know Linus pretends to care about ethics (in general) and that he uses woke bullshit to propagate his image of being a good guy. His retarded home wifi is just a fucking mess. He constantly cheaps out on the things that truly matter. He has cross talk and bandwidth issues at his tech bunker. Because the retard PUT EVERY SMART DEVICE IN THE WORLD IN HIS HOUSE. He has got light switch's, thermostats, security cams, tv's, games consoles, speakers and subs, then all their phones and tablets. All in the same like 90ft area. His PCs are hard wired as they are all in that rack.

With everything else that is going on in Canada. I would prepare for the worse. It is not just Thermostats, he has hooked up. Its everything else as well. Other than his business ventures, nothing in his house can fail safe. The point of him doing this is to turn every function in his house in to a smartphone app. Home of the future style. So he has a single point of failure for his entire family. It is silly that he has not invested in battery's in the roof, and solar power. 72 hours of power was always the benchmark for running a home.

Most things that you need in drones, like door/window sensors, movement sensors and shit like that are normally wireless and using zigbee. This is because zigbee sensors shut the fuck up 99% of the time until something happens and they need to report it so they can conserve battery power. My door sensors have the same LR44 battery for two years.

He deliberately chose cloud devices that communicate constantly with google & others, so of course he's having issues. Most local home automation devices just give reports every now and then, and realistically you can't even notice them since your phone/laptop/computer won't be on 2.4Ghz anyway.

Most of the things that you'd realistically be able to use during a blackout should still be available. A normal router can sit for hours even on a small UPS, barely uses any power. Home Assistant can run on a raspberry pi from the same UPS or have its own batteries and a UPS hat, or if it's PoE powered then just a UPS for the router is enough.

If your door, window, motion, etc sensors are battery powered then you don't care about those. Not really sure what you could use during a blackout, it's not like he's going to watch tv and need his wifi speakers working.

If he has security cameras, with his wealth I'd assume he has UPS's for them, or at least he got some with battery backups and local storage in case his NAS is unavailable.
