Between PirateSoftware and Linus now, this has already been a year of lolcow hubris and inflated egos leading to implosion. Two very high profile and intelligent to the average viewer tech sphere personalities have outed themselves as whiny bitches that just have to be right about EVERYTHING and its put them under microscopes.

All Linus had to do was let Steve cover what any reasonable person would agree was a mistake (not covering the Honey scandal when he was one of the first to know about what was happening) or comment on it and just say "Yeah, we fucked up, I had an incorrect view of how the Honey thing would be viewed if we exposed it and I'm sorry for that" and Louis probably never makes this video. LTT probably doesn't have to dedicate 4 podcasts to running defense for Herr Linus.

All PirateSoftware has to do is apologize for making a mistake in a videogame and people probably don't uncover pathological cheating in his singleplayer game playthroughs and cause a Streisand Effect with his old furry things and Defcon badge shit.

Moral of the story that most non-lolcows/well adjusted individuals already realize? Apologize if you make a clear mistake. People are much more likely to respect someone that can keep their ego in check and view situations objectively. His main gripe about Steve was about how he, in Louis' words, "accepted the premise of assholes", which basically means lowering his own standards to the same people that he regularly brings down, like shitty corporations - or in this case Linus. He also talks about how Steve's writing has went from that nerd that reviews hardware and gives consumer advice to a huge mess of legal jargon due to himself lowering his standards to match what Linus wants - which is apparently a journalistic masterpiece that only University of Columbia graduates can make.

Later in the video Louis also points out that Steve hadn't realized that the WAN Show clip where Linus dug in at the unanswered text was clear-cut manipulation until Louis pointed it out to him step by step, again because Steve had lowered his standards and expectations to match the kind of entities he deals with. He just wants Steve to go back to being his own self, and not cave into manipulative pricks' demands.

I hope more things come out from other sources that continue to paint a better picture of who Linus is. He thinks he's too big to fail but if enough people that have crossover with him come forward, eventually the audience will have to choose.
